  1. But is mine that unique? The TSB mentions cycle ignition issue-

Why Question to all.... on MFT3.6.02 have you set a different color default than white mkx /blue ford? have you set different ringers or text message ringers- have you noticed those settings over time changing? If so, than my issue not unique... if many do not pay attention or do not make the changes- doesn't mean the issue is not there- just not seen

I've never changed anything except the ambient lighting color.

  2. There is a TSB (posted here) for the ambient lighting that should normally repair the ambient lights resetting issue. Since it involves software updating on the APIM (MyFord Touch) it is included in the 5 year extended warranty. You should be able to get both your cars programmed by a dealer.

Drpepper's issue is that even with this update he is still getting the problem.

So if Drpepper's still experiencing the problem after having the TSB update performed, then it obviously doesn't fix it. So why waste time taking the vehicles in to have a procedure performed that doesn't cure the problem?

  3. One left, mine is out for delivery today. 2 days from Puerto Rico

I’ll do a write up and take pic’s for anyone that needs it, should be a 15 minute job

    Total cost $151.77

I bought one from this same eBay seller in Puerto Rico. Very fast shipping. It's a very easy job. While you have everything torn apart, it'd be a good idea to clean your MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaning spray, and get some TB cleaner and spray out the intake and clean it where the TB mates up to it.

Also, disconnect the negative battery cable while you're doing the job. This will force the computer to relearn air/fuel ratios/settings for the new TB.

  4.

Thank you for the information, from what I can see it should be plug and play but I'll look into it. I planned on taking it in to a dealer soon as I to have time to check that the firmware is up to date in the ECU anyways.

It's totally plug-and-play. Just swap out the TB and you're good to go. Took less than an hour in my own garage.

  5. 2011 Edge, just less than 62,000 miles

Vehicle lost power pulling out in traffic and would not accelerate and the yellow wrench appeared on the instrument panel. Restart engine and back to normal (this happened 3 times trying to get home). The third time the Service Engine Soon light came on and I was able to pull the codes and had a P2111 and a P2112.

Reached out to Ford Yesterday via PM and had a reply later that day from Tricia recommended taking my vehicle to the dealer to get diagnosed and she would look into it on her end. First I would like to say thank Ford for the prompt response. I have made the choice to order the new OEM Ford throttle body (P/N: AT4Z9E926B) and repair it myself seeing how i only have CPO powertrain coverage. I have always done my own service and just can’t bring myself to pay a higher price for the part, labor and taking time off to get it to a dealer.

My wife is an LBK amputee and just started driving after 12 years away and this was kind of a setback as now she needs reassurances that the Edge is safe; luckily I was driving when it happened; she would have freaked out. Anyways the part should be in on Thursday so I’ll drive it for some time and see if it corrects the problem and report back.

I would like to add for the poster who doesn’t think it is an issue. The first time this happened I was pulling out on a very busy street that you have to be a little aggressive to pull out (no one wants to let you in). I looked for an opening, get on it to pull out and it died with a car approaching fast with nowhere to pull over. So glad we didn’t get rear ended but I have to say I’ll be a little gun shy to pull out in the Edge for a bit. I’m not sold on the “Drive by wire” that’s for sure.

I've had this same problem. I ordered a TB and replaced it myself. I've had no problems since then, so you should be just fine after the repair. And I agree with you that this is a serious safety issue. Like you, I had it happen in a dangerous situation. Mine crapped out on me on a busy freeway where everyone was traveling 70+ MPH, and I was in the middle lane. I was very lucky to have not been hit by other traffic as I limped the vehicle across lanes to the shoulder.

  6. same issue here - my wife closed the roof on one of the side pieces and now it's buggered up - i am trying to find replacement pieces online but can't seem to figure out what they're called. Anyone know? Dealers will charge too much for this, I fear, but i may have to do that as a last resort.

I believe they're called "side curtains".

About two years ago the passenger side came loose and actually came apart-the rubber wore through. Mine is an 09 Limited. When I took it to my dealer to get it replaced, the shop manager said they weren't really needed. After some discussion, they replaced both-I figured if one went bad the other was sure to follow. About two months ago, the passenger side came loose from the front. I ended up using just a dab of super glue on the front, between the accordion looking thing and the bracket it fits in. No problems since.

However, if Ford is still using these, they must have some purpose.

My passenger side one is acting up-It pulls out from the front position as the roof opens, and the glass seems to stick to it, causing it to close abnormally slow. I'm going to try super-gluing the piece into the front metal piece and see if that helps. If not, then I may just remove it.

  7. Update on my situation: I did the re-initialization procedure again tonight, and it appears to have fixed almost all of my issues! Both the shade and glass open properly. The glass still moves a little slow on the last six inches portion of the closing, but I think that's an issue with the passenger-side "side curtain". It sounds like the glass is sticking to it a bit, and it pulls back from its normal position with the glass when opened. I've cleaned and treated it, and also put some baby powder on it, and it still seems to be sticking to the glass. I think it just needs to be replaced. I may remove it and see how the glass performs without it. It's not a part that's required for water-sealing purposes, I believe it's just for reducing wind noise. So I don't think it'll hurt to just take it out until I can get it replaced.

  8. What kind of problems are you having with your roof panel?

Does it fail to open entirely, or does it open or close slowly (takes more than 12 seconds), or does it reverse when opening? Does it stutter step open when operated from the roof opening panel control switch?

Does the tilt mechanism operate correctly?

I recently started having issues with my BAMR too. It was always slow to close and then got even slower. One day it would get about 4 inches from closed and stop, then retreat back to the partially open position. The only way to get it to completely close was to pull it with one hand while holding the close button.

It seems to open normally and close to the partial position normally, just can't close all the way. Because it seems to slide normally I don't think it's a lubrication problem but not sure what the "out of sync" issues would look like so I haven't re-initiated them yet. It also pops up to the vent position and closes from there with no issues.

Any info would be helpful since I have this awesome glass roof that I'm afraid to open for fear that it won't close!

    Thanks,

    -Russ

enigma-2: All of the problems described by Russ above are the exact same symptoms I"m experiencing. I tried the reinitialization procedure, but now it doesn't open at all: neither the shade nor to glass. When I press the buttons, it starts to move, then goes back closed. I'm going to try it again this week and see what happens. If that doesn't help, then I'll have to bite the bullet and take it in for repairs.

  9. I know there are tons of threads about the problems with the closing of the vista roof. Mine has been giving me fits for a while now. I tried cleaning/re-greasing the rails last night, and then tried the initialization procedure. Now neither the shade, nor the roof will open properly. I know that this needs to be corrected, but I'm still thinking that the motor needs to be replaced.

So my question is this: Has anyone tried to DIY the glass roof motor? I've watched the YouTube videos from the guy in Germany about this, and it doesn't look too difficult. So I'm thinking of just buying the motor and attempting replacement myself instead of shelling out a ton of $$$ for the dealer to do it. Has anyone else here done this successfully?

    Thanks,

  10. I know this may not help but, No. I was cleaning the railings the other day and they are still in place after about a year of opening a closing. (I'm in San Diego so they are open a lot).

Again, are you pinching them at the top and bottom and then pushing them into the black slot? They should fit but extremely tight.

If that is not working then you either need new ones, which to may knowledge may only be available through the dealer or their outsourced mechanic OR just don't use them, I don't believe they even have a real function that I can think of..

Yes, I do "pinch" it to put it back in place every time it slides. It's only happening on the passenger side. And I can't tell what keeps it firmly in place on the driver's side. It doesn't appear to have any sort of adhesive on it.

Anyone know the actual name of this item in the shop manual or Ford parts catalog, or have the actual part numbers for this part on both sides? I thought it was "side curtain", but every time I search for that I get stuff related to the air bag systems.

  11. My 2011 is in for APIM replacement, and the sun roof stalling at that point. they've "lubed the rails" so when I pick it up .. I will review it with a critical eye. If they've eliminated the symptoms and not the problem I'll push for a real resolution. If they were truly successful on resolving the issue, I plan on getting the 411 on what they've done and will relay here.

    Any update on this?
