  1. I've also noticed that these seals can be sticky. Lately mine were sticky, and would stick to the glass and slide back as the glass opened. So another trick I've used for the seals is to rub a little baby powder on them. I've done this for years on the rubber seals on my RV slide-out. Keeps them from being sticky and other things won't stick to them when they slide.

  2. I used both K&N drop-in filters and K&N CAI's for years on many of my cars. I've cleaned/re-oiled the filters at the recommended intervals and never, ever had a problem with over-oiling and/or damage to the MAF. It's just a matter of not spraying on too much oil, and then letting the filter sit for a sufficient amount of time to allow the cotton gauze to fully absorb all of the oil that has been applied.

Not sure how much actual HP I've gained in the vehicles with K&N's, but my "butt dyno" usually notices a slight difference. The biggest bonus for these in my opinion is the fact that you never have to buy another air filter as long as you own the vehicle. The cost of the K&N filter vs. replacement paper filters is usually recouped in a few years, depending on your driving habits and environments.

  3. When I first bought the KUDA mount, I also purchase an "iMega Cradle" to use with it. After I changed my phone case to a Lifeproof case, the iMega cradle was no longer compatible, so I took it off and bought a different holder to use with the KUDA mount. So, I have an iMega Cradle for sale if you're interested. I've linked it below.

    PM me if you're interested.

  4. I've been wondering how to do this mod also. On my wife's 2012 Fusion, both of the front window switches on the driver's door are auto-up/down. Other than that feature, the switch looks identical to the one in my Edge. Seems like it may be an easy mod just to buy a Fusion driver's switch assembly and put it in the Edge. Thoughts?

  5. It's a two-part system. The leather KUDA mount clamps around the dash trim. Then a second item attaches to it with 3M body molding tape. KUDA offers several add-on mounts from which to choose, depending on your particular device. See my original post in this thread for links to the KUDA mount for the Edge and the iMega phone clamp that goes with it that I'm selling.

  6. sixponies, can you post a picture of your cell phone in the Edge? I looked at the links you posted but the pictures there really don't give me an idea of how the phone is held.

    Thanks

I can't do it right now, as I'm at work. But I'll try to post something a few pictures in the next few days. Did you click on the "larger view" links in the photos on those pages? They give a little better view. Basically, the KUDA mount in the first link clips around the trim piece, the the "iMega" cradle in my second link attached to the KUDA mount with 3M body-side molding tape. It's solid as a rock.

Here's a link to the instructions for mounting the KUDA mount on the console trim that has a few more pictures:

  7. We actually have a '13 Edge loaner right now as my wife's Explorer is back in the shop for the exhaust smell issue; if you don't mind the reach, that is a good mounting spot...

That's why I went with the KUDA mount. A mount on the passenger side dash trim was too far of a reach for me in the driver's seat. More importantly, it would seem to me that having anything mounted on the passenger-side dash area would pose a serious safety risk, as it could interfere with the normal operation/deployment of the air bag.

And finally, I chose the KUDA mount for the trim just to the right of the MFT screen because to me it presented the most "clean", "almost factory" looking installation of any mount out there.

  8. I have a KUDA mount. It mounts on the console trim and is encased in leather. Looks great. I also had one on my 2004 Sport Trac. They offer two different ones for the Edge. One mounts down low, and the other mounts up near the MFT screen. I tried the lower one, but it interfered with the cup holder so I exchanged it for the higher one,and love it. I don't have any pictures right now, but you can check them out at the link below:

Also, are you using an iPhone 5? If so, I've got a mount from KUDA for the iPhone 5 for sale that goes with the piece above if you're interested. See the link below for info on this mount:

  9. Hi! Both systems are stainless steel. I'm partial to Gibson, having installed them on six of my previous cars. However, unless your Edge is FWD only, the Gibson system will not fit an AWD without extensive mods. Also Gibsons are louder than Magnaflow because of the chambered design with no packing. I just installed the Magnaflow 16871 system on my 2010. However, I removed it and reinstalled the stock system after leaving it on the car for one week. Why? Because my wife who has always enjoyed the sound of our exhaust systems didn't like this one. Too hotroddy?? she said. Also, I didn't like the big 4" trashcan tips. I'm going to put it on Ebay since it's still like new, and maybe swap the front stock resonator for a Magnaflow muffler, but leave the rear stock mufflers in place. .

Thanks for the feedback. I was aware that both systems were stainless steel. My Edge is indeed FWD, so the Gibson system should fit just fine. However, I wasn't aware of the chambered vs. packing design difference between the two brands. I've had Flowmaster mufflers on several vehicles, so I'm familiar with the chambered muffler sound. In fact, I really like that sound. So knowing that, and the fact that the Gibson system generally runs about $300 cheaper than the Magnaflow system; I think I'm going to install a Gibson system as soon as the funds become available.

  10. One of the mods at the top of my list is either the Gibson or Magnaflow exhaust. A little further down the road, I'd like to install a hitch. After doing some research on this forum, I've found a few aftermarket hitch possibilities that won't require cutting the rear bumper and also look pretty good (i.e. not too visible from the rear). However, I have a question about combining these two mods: The OEM exhaust appears to use two mufflers, whereas the two aftermarket kits use one transverse mounted muffler at the bumper. So has anyone installed either the Gibson or Magnaflow kit along with a hitch? Or is it not possible to install the hitch because the muffler's in the way?

  11. Love that Red Candy =P

You'll love the ride. Just cruise around the forum here and you'll see plenty of great ideas and exactly where to get them as well. Some of our members are also distributors of some mods! Post any questions at all in their proper section and they'll be answered by some very knowledgeable community members!

Welcome and Hello Train Trac, Terbo Trac here from mysporttrac.com. I went to a F150 for a couple of years then recently to a 2011 Edge and very happy with the Edge.

Welcome, sixponies! Have you/are you planning on adding more tint to the windows? Black interiors ;)

    Thanks for the greetings, all.

KingMike: I'm loving the ride already. It's a big step up from my '02 and '04 Sport Tracs. The mod list is growing faster than my wallet (isn't that always the case?) :) I've got some ideas based on mods I did to my Sport Trac, and rest assured I'll be picking the brains of the "experts" around here. ;)

fledgex: Yeah, I didn't want an F150 as a replacement for the Trac. I just don't have a need for a truck that big. Plus, I didn't want to spend that much for either the truck or the gas it would consume. I'd been looking at Gen 2 Tracs and Edges, but low mileage, good condition Gen 2 Tracs are very hard to find. After talking about Gen 2 Tracs vs. Edges with Dingo, I started leaning towards the Edge. And when I found this one, that sealed the deal on my decision. All of the other Edges I was looking at were 2009 or 2010 models. The were in the same price range is this 2011 with similar or fewer miles, but I really liked the Gen 2 Edge interior better, and the fact that it was Certified Pre-Owned helped too.

Dingo: Not OtherAndy! Just fair warning, my friend: As my mod list grows, I'm probably going to be firing a lot of questions your way, so bear with me if I seem like a pain in your @$$.

  12. Hello All,

I just purchased a 2011 Ford CPO Edge Limited last weekend. ~32K miles, Red Candy/Black interior, MFT, Vista Roof, 20" wheels/tires. I'm loving it so far. Moved "up" from a 2004 Sport Trac Adrenalin that I'd owned for nine years prior to selling it a few weeks ago. I was a longtime member of The Sport Trac Website (where I went by the handle "TrainTrac") and a good friend of Dingo's. He actually helped me in deciding what to purchase to replace the '04 Trac. I'd been looking at Gen 1 Edges, Gen 2 Tracs, and Gen 2 Edges. Finally decided on this 2011 when I found it. I actually drove about 3.5 hours to get it, because I couldn't find anything closer equipped the with the options that I wanted.

I joined this site a few months ago when I became interested in the Edge as a possible replacement for the Trac. I pretty much trolled the site until today, doing a ton of research on here about different model years, options, mods, etc. Like many of you here I love to turn wrenches on/mod my vehicles, and I've gotten plenty of ideas from this forum already, and the list is growing!

Along with Dingo, I see a few other familiar names on here from The Sport Trac Website like Spaceman Spiff and Bob C. I guess the Edge is what many former Sport Trac owners migrate to if they don't want an F150. That's what I did. I love the interior space in the Edge, it drives great so far, and I avergage of 28MPG coming home from the dealer on Saturday.

So, as I said earlier, let the modding begin. I'm sure I'll have questions for the veterans on here about mods. Have a great weekend!
