  1. Took a quick look but couldn't see anything out of the ordinary...but I'm not a expert on cars so may have missed something. I was thinking something like that, couldn't really find access point inside the Edge to take a good look. Any suggestions on this one?
  2. AC drains fine, no issues there. Replaced the air filter in June, but I'll take a look. No check engine light, loss of power, decreased milage, etc.
  3. Rolling marbles is a good description. What are the consequences of not having it fixed immediately? Id like to have that specific Ford dealership to look at it but work full time in another city (just graduated).
  4. Just over 96k miles, FWD. Rear brakes replaced last winter at Midas while in college, entire power steering had to be replaced last August by local mechanics while home for the summer, got new tires towards the end of May/early June at highly reviewed Ford dealership. The dealership did say my power steering was starting binding and the rack needs to be replaced but it's not an urgent issue (under 3 year warranty thank god). Edit: it sounds like metal tools or nuts/screws rolling around
  5. Hi all, Sometimes while driving I hear a metal rattle noise coming from the front driver's side, sounds like it's under my steering or center console. It's pretty intermittent & doesn't happen every day, sometimes it's once a day or a few then a couple of drives before I hear it again. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Steering and breaks feel normal.
  6. Good news! There's a 2 year warranty on what the mechanic fixed (they have a few locations so they're an established company, but not a big corporation like Jiffy Lube). I have to call a Goodyear service center to set up an appointment, where they will take a look at everything and make any necessary fixes. I'd still rather have VanBortle Ford make the fix, but if there's a 2 year warranty in place then I feel more at ease.
  7. Pretty sure it was aftermarket, which is why I want the Ford dealership handeling the fix this time. Didn't have time to get a second option because I just moved out and started a job, but I do trust the dealership. Based on my own experiences vs other dealers and online reviews.
  8. Hi all, Got new tires today and when I dropped off the Edge I asked if they could look into the plastic rattling noise that would occur while driving on the highway. Turned out to just be the air damn, but the dealership noticed my steering seemed off. With my permission they took a look at the power steering. They called to say it wasn't leaking, but that my rack should be replaced in the near future because my steering is binding. What does that mean? We just had the entire power steering system replaced last summer by a trusted mechanic. I want them to pay for the Ford dealer to replace the rack because it hasn't even been a year with the new system. Is this possible/realistic? Side note, my new Michelin Premier LTXs are awesome and the car is a lot quieter now!
  9. Worked perfectly!! My steering sometimes made this weird whirling noise which I found strange bc it was new, and that took care of the noise & stiff wheel. I just graduated college, and I'm moving out of my parents house tomorrow. I'd love to learn how to do these things on my own but right now is not the time, nor do I have the equipment Edit: Regarding your LGBTQ comment..I'm gay and find this whole situation kinda strange. I didn't think it was a problem until we started making a big deal out of it. I doubt anyone noticed a trans-male going into the womens bathroom or vice versa
  10. Here's a before and after from my break flush . The breaks feel a little less spongey & seems to have more confidence Last question I promise... I think there's air in my power steering system. It's all brand new (replaced early Fall) but it's pretty tight. Would a power steering flush take care of this? I have to get new tires soon and would get this done at the same time.
  11. Just called local ford dealership, a flush is $99. Having it done tomorrow Edit: checked power steering and transmission fluids and they're all good & at max level. Stopping at Autozone today for a new air filter that I'll throw in my self. My dad helped me clean off the gunk on my battery and added water
  12. Soooo for my break fluid: good, bad? Leave it, replace it, or flush it?
  13. Would it be better to do a brake fluid flush or just change the fluid by draining & refiling?
  14. I'll have to wait 'til I move this weekend, but it's on my list! It's funny you mentioned power steering, because in the fall my entire power steering system had to be replaced
  15. Edit: I orginially posted about the trany AND brake fluid flush, but axing the tansmission flush. After doing some searching online I checked my fluid and it smells new, is still pink and between the fill lines. My 2008 Edge SEL has ~92,000 miles on it. We bought it used at around 60-65,000 miles with no records of previous maintanence. Since I got it it's been through mostly city miles. Would you recommend a brake fluid flush/replace? The car always felt a little spongey when breaking but that seems to be a thing with all Edges this year. Bonus: I need new tires!! I'll be living in Buffalo, NY this winter, so that means lots of snow. I did the penny test the other day and all tires are pretty worn. I'd like to get a good pair of all seasons that handle reasonably well in the snow. I just graduated and will be moving out next weekend so I don't necessarily have money to spend on 2 sets of tires. Any recommendations? I have FWD if that means anything. Thanks!
