  1. Is this something I can do myself or I need to bring it to a dealer?
  2. Hey everyone- Started noticing this warning pop up randomly over the last month or so. Seems to happen if my car is on but idle (like sitting in a parking lot.) If I turn the car off and back on, the warning disappears. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Kate. Ford Edge Limited 2011 AWD
  3. I don't want to pay to fix it when I see that it's only lasting for so long. I've been arguing with Ford that they should fix it. I wasn't feeling that unsafe until the other day, at which point I've decided I don't want this car anymore. Now that I see how unsafe it is, I'm not being an idiot and I'm moving forward with getting something safe. I have an extended warranty, was sold to me when I bought the car, not through Ford unfortunately, and they don't cover this...I've checked. It's shitty customer service, plain and simple. Other than this issue, I love my car. If there is a fix or something happens before I sell it that fixes this issue for good, I'll keep my car. Until then, I'm done.
  4. Or Ford could just fix it knowing the safety related issues? Nope, out of principle (and for my safety), selling the car is the plan. I refuse to pay over $500 for something Ford should fix. Friend had her sensor replaced, 4 months later it started up again.
  5. Alright, I've absolutely had it! I'm ready to throw this damn car off a mountain. I CANNOT handle it anymore, it's actually driving me crazy. I had a terrifying experience the other day when some stranger followed me to my car and tried to get in my passenger door when I got in the driver's side...AND I COULDN'T LOCK MY DOORS! By the time I reached over to slam the actual lock closed on the passenger door, he had already opened it. Thankfully, there was a guy who was watching this all go down and literally raced to my rescue and chased the guy away. I'm about to sell my car, or go lease a brand new one. And it WILL NOT be a Ford. I called Ford the next morning to report this, and they had nothing to say about it. I told them I called 6 months ago with this exact fear, and it came true. I have a very good friend who is a news anchor and will be going to him with this story...I don't see any other way at this point to get Ford's attention. It's disgusting their lack of customer service over a door latch sensor. Just thought I'd share...
  6. So aside from constant door ajar warning, I've loved my car, up until now... I don't know what happened, it started about 3 wks ago...my phone has been paired with my car since I bought it, no issues, even when I upgraded to a new phone. I was always able to use the voice command "bluetooth audio" and it would automatically start playing my phones music. Now? It just comes up on the screen saying 0 or 0 (as if no songs exist) and it says unknown for name of song and singer. I have to physically go into the music app on my phone to press play, then the car picks it up. But if I close the app on my phone, the bluetooth audio stops playing it too. I really don't want to do a complete reset because I have so many specific settings that I don't want to lose. I've called Ford, I have the latest version of software. I did a soft reset of the system which I read about somewhere on this forum (removing a side panel near the gas pedal and unplugging a plug and replugging it)...it turned off MFT and said it was updating...but no change once it came back on. Any ideas? It's getting really annoying. I'm in my car a lot so it'd be really nice to have my music automatically start playing again.
  7. Ok so months back I went to the Ford dealership I go to...the fix that Ford had for this was literally to take a pen or some object that would fit, stick it in the latch and push it back and forth 20 times to "clean" out the crap in there. Um, CMON now...doesn't work for sh*t! Sorry, I'm starting to get beyond fed up with this. Had a few months of no issues, then it came back, sprayed it, got worse, now it's getting a little better again. But, my car alarm went off again in the middle of the night last night. Is this fix something different than what the guy did for me? He never removed the door latch. Oh, and now my bluetooth and my sync aren't working...loving Ford so much right now.
  8. Ok so no alarm going off after I sprayed, but that could be just coincidence. However now my door ajar sensor is back, but not as bad as it originally was before ever spraying. Too much spray? I can't win. Saw the recall...I was SO hoping it was for an 11 Edge door sensor.
  9. Alright I sprayed the crap out of the lock (without taking the door apart) and got the straw all up in there, LOL. I'll check back with you guys in a few days to see if it's worked. Oh the struggles...thanks everyone
  10. Thank you! At least I know I'm not going crazy and my car is about to fall apart. I called Ford Customer Service yesterday and let them know how ridiculous this is getting. I work in an urban area in an emergency room and on an ambulance....when I work second shift and get out in the dark of night, the first thing I used to do is lock my car door. Well, since this has started happening, I can't lock it with the sensor still going off...it pops up all my locks, which makes it easy for anyone to slide in any door if they wanted...so I used that as a real pushing point with Ford, didn't seem to matter though. I'll try spraying the entire rest of the can in there today, and maybe one of my mechanic friends can figure out what to do. My extended warranty is expired, but I do have another one with Zurich...however they are saying this isn't covered, and taking the door apart at Ford will cost me an arm and a leg. Ugh. I'll take a look at those pics. So glad to have this forum otherwise I'd be spending money left and right. This has been my only Ford problem ever...hoping it's my last problem because I really do love this car.
  11. Please help!! I'm not sure if this is related, but I've been having the door ajar warning issue for months until I finally sprayed it with electrial cleaner and 90% of the time it works, when it doesn't, I just reopen and shut the door once and it's gone. BUTTTT, I noticed the last two weeks my car alarm will start randomly going off...for literally no reason at all. I didn't think much of it, but last night, and on and off ALL night until I finally got my ass out of bed to unlock the car door (I'm thinking that did the trick or it was coincidence) my car alarm was going off. Is there a chance this is related? Does the car alarm go off because even though the doors are locked, for some reason, the car senses the door is trying to be opened when that door ajar alarm starts acting up? My neighbor called me at 3am saying someone must be trying to get in my car, so it's really getting annoying. Can anyone chime in on this with some advice? It'd be greatly appreciated. THANKS.
  12. I synced my phone so that it can read text messages to me, and it does that fine. However, not on the main LCD screen, but in the mini screens in the dash (the one on the right where you can switch from phone to nav to entertainment, etc...) when a text message comes in, it brings it up, I choose for it to be read and after its read, the same options still stay on the screen. If I press cancel so I can go back to the radio or something, the next time a test comes, that screen doesn't pop up letting me choose for it to be read...it only comes up on the main LCD screen, and if I don't touch that fast enough, it disappears. Does anyone know how to read the text on the small screen on the right, exit out of that screen, but still be able to have it pop up again when another message comes through? It's not that big a deal, but I find it much easier to use the controls on the steering wheel while I'm driving. Thanks!
  13. What do you guys use for all weather mats? I have a white 2011 Ford Ege Limited with medium light stone interior. I was looking at these... http://www.amazon.com/WeatherTech-Custom-Cargo-Liners-Ford/dp/B000YC6QF2/ref=pd_rhf_se_s_sp_2_2_Y6SH?ie=UTF8&refRID=09MTW6ENR1PC773AY6SH http://www.amazon.com/WeatherTech-451102-Extreme-Floor-Liner/dp/B000Q81B4K/ref=pd_rhf_se_s_sp_2_1_Y6SH?ie=UTF8&refRID=09MTW6ENR1PC773AY6SH http://www.amazon.com/WeatherTech-Custom-Front-FloorLiner-Ford/dp/B000VB8EJW/ref=pd_sim_auto_1
  14. Does anyone's collision warning system just go off randomly when driving in the Ford Edge? It happens sometimes to me when there's absolutely nothing in front of me.
  15. This is the review I posted on dealerrater.com "My Review Of Danbury Kia: I'm not even sure where to begin. I have never been treated so badly regarding any customer service at any kind of business. Just writing about this makes me so angry. I bought my used car from there, and besides the fact that that experience wasn't nearly what it should have been, I wanted the car so I made the deal work. We made a deal that there were a few things that needed to be fixed that I would come back for once the parts were in. Well, after weeks of trying to get a hold of them, and I mean multiple phone calls and emails, I tell them the day I can come in, they call me back to confirm and they confirm a different day! So I have to completely rearrange my schedule to make it down there, I live over an hour away from them. I was only going back there for service because of the deal we made to fix some aesthetic things when I bought the car. They told me it would take an entire day to give me two new rims that were scratched up really bad, fix a piece of plastic, a tiny rip in the leather, and put a new air filter in. I get there, I give them the keys, and I sit down ready to wait for hours. A couple of hours go by and I go to check on the progress. My car had a donut on it. I asked why and they said the "rim guy" came and took my tire. First of all, he took only one, there were two that needed to be replaced. Again, replaced, not fixed. They said they ordered two rims and they were in. They never ordered them. They also told me the rim guy would give it back in a few days. What?! I told them to get my tire back here, that was unacceptable. They couldn't get a hold of him and didn't know where his shop was. Are you serious? They also being to argue with me that it was only one rim to be fixed. So not only do they lie telling me they ordered two new rims and they had arrived, now they're retracting on their agreement. The plastic piece was also not ordered. They did fix the slit in the leather and replaced the air filter. I made them do an oil change for free at that point because when I bought the car, it apparently wasn't done recently. I walked in to speak with the manager, where I stood outside the room because I heard my name, and I continued to stand there and listen to them say some pretty nasty things. I walked in after I heard enough and let them know exactly what I had to say. They began to apologize, offered to pay for gas (but then didn't) and said they'd order the plastic piece and send it to my home. I grabbed my keys, telling them this was the worst experience I've ever had. In fact, I get home later that night and notice that there's a dent in one of my license plates (I'm an EMT and have a EMT license on my car). I have never received the plastic part from them. I wish to never speak to them again and hope only that others read this and don't do business there." This was putting it lightly, without sharing the choice words I overheard them speaking about me. I did get a response from them, saying they'd like to fix the situation, I've emailed them back and still haven't received anything, especially the plastic part I've been waiting on. Awful experience.
