I would highly recommend PM'ing fordpimods (fordpimods.com). That's were I bought my replacement and programmed APIM for around $600. Very fast and efficient service. I haven't had any issues after replacing my APIM. You can find instructions on how to replace it on YouTube. IMO, this is your best option. I looked at other options: dealership replacement, upgrading to SYNC3 replacement and both of them are much more expensive options.

I am also interested in this thread. My Edge is a 2011 Sport (w/ Nav) and the 5 year extended warranty on the APIM is expired. I have the Black Screen of Death and I believe the APIM has died. I have tried pulling fuse 29 and removing the negative terminal of the battery. I tried both overnight, but the screen is still black. When I pulled the negative terminal and put it back the next morning, the radio stayed on for approximately 50 seconds and then turned off. My DIY question is: Is it possible to buy the APIM (w/ Nav), remove the dead APIM and replace/reprogram the new APIM?
