I have an '07 Edge and have been through 7 PTU seals and 1 axle so far. On the 6th replacement it was the "New" engineered seal, it only lasted 2 days and the car was back into the dealer for the burning small and leaking. They have replaced it once again with the "New" engineered seal this week but I don't have much hope that it will be the final cure. I hope you all have better luck than I have had.

I have a 07 Edge with 6500 miles. It has been to the dealer 3 times for a burning smell, stats small and progressively gets worse to the point of smoke inside of the car. The have been replacing the PTU seal but I have no confidence in this repair.

I have a 07 Edge AWD SEL and it has been (and is again) 3 times to the dealer for leaking a red fluid from the PTU. It is first noticable by a burning smell and smoke coming up from under the car - presumming it is the transmission fluid that is burning causing the smell. Eventually it is noticable as the leak begins to be seen on your driveway. They keep replacing the PTU seal but I no longer have any confindence in this repair =( I am beginning to wish I had never bough this car, it only has 6500 miles on it.
