  1. DJwhlo - you're right about why there is extra cost. The extra cost of relays isn't too bad, but if a less expensive unit will work, I'm saving extra money. My options are a one-button after-market unit, or a more expensive five-button after-market unit, plus the extra costs for programming extra buttons. But if the buttons on the key still work after started remotely, there's no need to buy the more expensive device or incur the extra cost.
  2. Thanks Beasley. However, the Ford remote start devices are one-way systems only. I want a two way system to know whether or not the car started when it is out of sight. I have remote start on my current car, and hate it when I think the car is running, wait for it to warm up, then go outside and discover it never got the signal. Anyone else with an after-market remote start? Can you unlock doors or open tailgate with buttons on key after the car is started remotely? If not, I'll just have to program these features to the remote start. Not a big deal, but they charge extra for each additional feature. Nickel and dime...nickel and dime....
  3. Anyone else have an after-market remote start on an Edge? Can you unlock the doors or open tailgate with buttons on key after the car is started remotely?
  4. Thanks for all the info everyone. I went with cheapo aftermarket remote start for my Accord. It works, but here's a few complaints. The remote start is only a one-way system. If I can see my car, I can tell that it started because the lights turn on. However, if I can not see my car, I have no idea whether it started or not. I really want to put a two-way system onto my Edge. My other complaint with my cheapo remote start on the Accord is that the buttons on the key do not work when the car is started remotely. So I have to unluck the doors or open the trunk manually. I want to be able to do these things with a remote start. My 2008 Edge Limited should arrive any day now. As I understand, the Ford remote start products are one-way systems only. As I mentioned before, I really want a two-way system. So, Ford pulled out the accessory binder and offered me the following aftermarket models: 1) AstroStart 2205A - Cost is $469.50. However, I think they will need to add a transponder bypass for another $85 or so. This unit is a 5 button device. Sounds like it can also be used for door locks, power lift gate, and anything else you want it to do. 2) Audiovox 1 Button Confirming Remote Start (AUD93250) - Cost is $339 and will also require the $85 transponder bypass. So here's my question..... If I start my Edge remotely, will the buttons on the key work? If they do, I could go with the Audiovox option and save some coin, while still having all of the features that I want by using the key.
  5. Whew. Sorry folks. My last post may have been pre-mature. When I go to fordvehicles.com, it's still the same story. However, if I go to the dealer website, the same $1,500 or incentive APR offers are available through the end of the month. Looks like the price stayed the same. Whew!
  6. I really hope that the price of my Edge didn't increase $1,500. We ordered in January, expect delivery during March. Ford's website looks like it's been updated for March promotions. When I look at the 2007 Edge, I see the March promotion. When I look at almost any other vehicle, I see the March promotion. However, when I look at the 2008 Edge - it still shows the expired promotion. Not sure what I'm going to do if this is true. A $1,500 price jump hurts the wallet a bit.
  7. Would you mind checking order status for me as well? My dealer told me that it had a VIN number, but I was driving and couldn't write it down. Didn't think I would need it for anything. Here's the info I do have... Order No: D100 Dealer: F58018 Order Date: 1/23/08 K39 2008 Edge - Limited Creme Brulee Appreciate any help you have. I am absolutely agonizing with anticipation.
  8. Agree with BBF. We ordered our Edge in late January. The dealer instructed us that we will be available for the rebate that is in place when we take delivery of the vehicle. Rebates with Ford are regional. We are in the Minneapolis area and our current offer is $1500 cash back OR incentive financing offers. Our vehicle should be delivered in March and we are hoping for $500 of additional bonus cash due to the Minneapolis Auto Show. Of course, they could reduce the regular incentive to $1,000 and we are still in the same situation. We have not heard of the iPhone promotion up here yet. Agree with BBF again. You should be able to get a better deal on the car, definitely more than just the $1500 cash back offer.
