I was just told that I have a sever transmission leak at 90k, my husband is a great mechanic and has been fixing my car since it went out of warranty. I want to know if anyone knows what kind of transmission fluid the 2008 Edge SEL AWD takes. There are so many kinds out there, I've seen F, S and several others so I'm confused... HELP!!

I understand your concern. The whole situation was slight after they greased the calipers, it only happened once each week for 2 weeks but, it was only the other day that everything went south when I was coming home from work. Trust me I would endanger my own life before I would someone else's. Without us knowing each other and our level of responsibility I hope you would understand that the Mustand is a show car and not a daily driver. Unfortunately the Edge is my daily driver. Since that day April 1st on my way home from work it has been sitting in front of my house waiting until Saturday when a friend of ours will tow it to the dealer! I have been driving for 40 years and I have had my fair share of mishaps (my own) and some are the responsibility of others. Just to clarify I haven't had an accident in over 20 years and don't plan to start now. I absolutely LOVE my Edge and I want to get to the bottom of this horrible problem. I pride myself on the fact that since I drive the Edge daily I know exactly when I can control it or how to control it. Being a Drag Racer in local Pro Stock I think and I would hope I know about safety! The last thing I EVER want to happen is to hurt another person! While I drive daily or at the track. I hope that you and I can move forward after this fencing match . I hope if you know anything or hear something about this issue you would please let me know!! I wish you the best and I look forward to some more of your posts as long as they deal with how to get this issue taken care of!! LOL

Shrug: I thought his was a site to help people and ridicule them. I have stopped driving the car, for your information the issue had stopped and them started again! I don't feel the need to explain myself to someone like you! If you can't say anything nice........don't say anything at all! And if you can't help try and figure out what it might be wrong with my brakes please don't comment!! I see that your rudeness runs rampid

I have 77k on the rotors and have had the brake pads changed out about 3 years ago. I was Coming home from work yesterday and my brakes wouldn't stop me. Good thing I leave at least 8 car lengths in front of me or I would have rear ended the person in front of me. I called my service guy to tell him what happened and he knew I wasn't happy as he always says no matter what the problem I'm always happy and understanding so I told him that I wanted him to take a good look at the brake booster. But having to work during the week it's hard to get the car to the into the dealer due to working an hour away from where I live and the dealer is another 45 minutes from my house. He said they would pull off the brake booster and check it thoroughly. I do trust he will as I have a good working relationship with him. I'm very honest with him in my feelings about how this issue is causing more stress than what is needed. My husband has been working on cars for years and we have had several discussions as to what it might be. Being with him for all these years has really educated me on my car and any car. And this forum has given me the ammunition to tell them exactly what I want them to check and why!! Thanks to everyone of you who have posted and keep posting!! I have to say my 2008 edge is having major brake problems. About a month and a half ago I would step on the breaks and it would be pulsating bad. Took it to the dealer and they turned the rotors with that old standby of the rotors have rust and the pads had glazing. They did that twice, I seem to think it's more than that. I went to brake today and it wouldn't stop ! Talk about someone who was so scared they didn't want to drive the car anymore! The car will be parked until Saturday when I can get it back to the dealer one last time. This time I'm TELLING them to replace the Brake Booster and I'm not taking no for an answer or the Maryland Attorney General's office will be hearing from me. I know that the dealers know there is something seriously wrong with these brakes and were probably told not to acknowledge it to their customers. How in good conscious can they continue this atrocity? This is a safety issue, if I have an accident who's the person in the other car going to sue when I run into the back of them, certainly not the dealer or The Ford Motor Company! The more I read on this forum the more pissed off that Ford refused to acknowledge publicly that they need to replace major components of the brakes! Thank you all for opening my eyes and making me aware of what I have to do on Saturday! I will call the service guy to tell him to expect to replace the brake booster and they ARE NOT going to turn my rotors again. I can't afford to pay for new rotors since I just spent 4 1/2 hours sitting at the dealer and $697.00. For the inconvenience they need to pay me &1000.00 for my time!! Will update as to what happened when I went in!! Thanks again all!! And yes not all women are stupid when it comes to cars. My husband has taught me a lot and this forum reinforces that I know more than I thought I did!!

If this continues and you get nowhere, I would contact the states attorney's office! I am having a severe issue with my 2008 Edges brakes and they are wonky! They make a horrible sound when I stop, you can feel it in the break peddle, sometimes it won't even stop! The dealer greased the calipers, turned the rotors (twice) get the rust off and too the glazing off of the brake pads. I brought up the forum while I was sitting at the dealer and my service guy comes up and asked me what I found on my machine (iPhone) I told him what other issues everyone was having and I absolutely know that they know it's something serious! I am demanding they tear the brakes apart and I will be telling them that they are not to turn the rotors for a third time! I know that's not what it is, if my car fails to stop and I hit someone who is that person going to sue? Certainly not my dealer and Ford!! I really would like to demand new boosters and calipers. I will be taking the car in Sunday for work Monday! In the meantime I will be driving Ford Mustang to work. I hate taking my baby into the city with all the crazies but I have no other choice. Can someone give me feedback one post so I have some ammunition when I talk to my service guy!!

I am sitting here at the ford dealer service department and I am having the same issue with my brakes. They keep turning the rotors to take the rust and scuffing the brake pads! Thank goodness I had this forum to refer to as they did lube the calipers this time. I showed him the responses and issues and he was impressed that I am doing my homework. I LOVE my Ford Edge which is a 2008 and I do t intend to get any other vehicle any time soon since it is only 7 months of paying it off. I faithfully keep up all maintenance when it states. Thank you all for your posts and educating me on certain issues! This forum is now a bookmark for me. I have to say I was beginning to be afraid of driving my car back and forth to work! Let's see what this visit has I in store for me!
