    MPG ?????

2012 Sport AWD - Checked the mpg this past weekend on a 200 mile trip, all highway. Best mpg was 24.4mpg, but averaged 22.4 mpg @ 65-70mph. My in-town ride (lots of lights) averages 18 mpg (not bad for a Sport AWD model plus heavy rims). I will take that any day... My SLK55 does 14 mpg (when I am babying it, yeah right...), but then I didn't buy it for its fuel efficiency Not nit picking, but I wonder why anyone would complain about gas mileage in an SUV/CUV weighing >4,000 Ib.... These vehicles are NOT designed for fuel efficiency no matter what the manufacturer claims on the sticker... Just MHO.
  2. Dipped on-car... I will re-dip the AWD. Thanks buddy.
  3. Today, plasti-dipped the rear badges, except the "AWD". First I dipped the AWD then undipped Just not sure about this badge yet.... But I love the black-colored "EDGE" and "SPORT" on the tri-coat platinum white color (compare it to the chrome version which you can barely see from a distance). You may not see it that well, but I left the "red" flank on the "SPORT" to give it some xter... Next will be swapping out the blue "FORD" oval emblems on the front hood and rear trunk to BLACK. That will mesh with the blackened grill and the plasti-dipped rear emblems as well. And that will complete Phase-I of my mod list (minus the Halo LED headlights). I am pretty happy with the small, but noticeable changes that make the EDGE SPORT stand out from the crowd. After some rest, I will begin Phase-II soon enough.
  4. MGP caliper covers "EDGE" branded now on. This has to be the easiest mod for an Edge Sport. Literally like 5-10min tops and don't need the wheels off. Ridiculously easy.... Now loving the new look - subtle yet crisp. The ride down the road now makes a statement... Love it.
  5. My MGP calipers shipped today. So looking forward to installing that this week. Seems like some people claim they installed these covers without taking off the wheels. Will be giving this a shot to see if it is indeed true... Pics coming real soon.
  6. EcoGreen Edge... You got that right!!! I like the term. And thanks for the help and the props... Sometimes I forget the truck is my wife's and not to mess with it that much. Gotta remind myself...
  7. This is one of the best transformed Edge LTDs I have seen yet on this forum. Great work, Splork. You did great and the outcome is 1000% better than where you started. The mods were tasteful, elegant and transformative. Love the rims, love the headlights and the blacked out grille. And especially those red caliper covers. I guess I am transforming mine in similar fashion altho' can't spend all that $$$ too quickly. The halos have to wait for now... else I've got the rest on my To-Do list and almost there. Thanks for the thread and the pics you posted...
  8. Swapped out the switchback with a silver-chromed turn bulb. Turns out it was a "greenie" turn bulb. Had no idea until I installed it... But loving it all the same.... No more hyper flashing, and I still get the front fascia look I desire... Love it. Now all of the interior lights and license plate lights converted to LEDs... And then want to add MGP caliper covers... On order. Should be on by end of next week... Mods never end.... Decided against the true dual pipes/exhaust, now seriously considering the H&R lowering springs, but worried about all the crappy roads out here in New England... gotta do something about the ride tho'... Should I or should I not??? Arghhhhh......
  9. I can confirm that this works as described. Thanks drpepper. The first time I followed these steps it still didn't work, but second time, I checked the BT on my iPhone5S to ensure that "Notification" is set to ON on the phone. Then I went thru the steps again, and this time the warning that my phone is unsupported is gone. Texting to speech is now enabled. Nice.
  10. On second thought, I just remembered that on my SLK55 AMG I replaced the amber turn bulbs with stealth/chromed bulbs and got rid of the egg-yellow look on my front headlight assembly area. And it worked perfect (see below) Stock Chromed turn bulb So I am going to take off the LED switchbacks on my Edge and put in chromed turn bulbs (already ordered)... This way, I get a clean front and avoid all the troubles of these switchbacks... If anyone is interested, found it on Ebay at the Link here (clicky clicky...).
  11. Oh wow!!! Thanks everyone for the wonderful support and suggestions. Gotta love the forum for the good people here. How hard is it to add resistors? I found the Edge Sport leans too much around corners. Nothing sporty about that at all. What is the best way to correct that? Put on strut bar in front? Would that work or do I have to change the entire suspension by lowering the car? Won't like to do that at all... Also,
  12. First set of mods, with pictures... 1- Short stubby antenna (DONE) 2- HIDs (55W/5000K DDM Tuning + Relay) - DONE 3- Front dome lights now LEDs (white) - DONE 4- Nice cut-off HIDs (kinda, sorta,.... ) 5- Sync A5 Nav Card updated - DONE (no pic, sorry). Don't know if anything changed so far... Will find out what changed in the update soon enough. 6- Turn signal Switchback - Ahhhhh!!!! Funny thing here. No white light shows but amber light blinks (left, right and hazard)... so how to fix this issue???? More mods to come 7- Looking at potential true dual piping + exhaust (maybe) 8- LED license plate 9- LED trunk dome lights (actually have these LEDs just need help on how to replace the stock ones.... anyone have a YouTube video of this?) 10- Halo LEDs on projectors (still debating this, cos I have a quote of $1200, ouch!!!) Thanks all...
  13. How does your pricing compare locally? Hope you have checked local ad prices and set yours competitive.... Haven't seen a Sport with a single moonroof until yours. Interesting.... Anyways, as a quick ref, here in Boston, a local dealer has/had a 2011 Edge Sport AWD (Red) with 58K miles, loaded with Nav, Vista roof, keyless entry, push button start, remote start, BLIS, etc... etc... but has a couple cosmetic issues with the body panel. The list was $24,500 and willing to deal for a bit less to drive it home... Just an FYI... Hope this helps somewhat.
  14. @specialk4523: It's a 2012...
  15. Already ordered.... Phase-1 mod list 1- Switchback LEDs (front turn signals) 2- Short stubby antenna 3- HIDs (55w/5000K) DDM Tuning 4- Interior + cargo area roof LEDs 5- 30% front tint (done) 6- A5 Nav update flash disk Pics will be posted as soon as all are installed....
  16. Platinum White, 2012 Edge Sport AWD with 35K miles, loaded with every option.... $28,900 + $2000 bumper-to-bumper extended warranty (5y/60K/$0 ded.) = $30,900 + TTL.
  17. Just newly purchased for the missus.... 2012 Edge Sport AWD... My grocery getter, and mod project... 2013 Hyundai Elantra, Lowered on Eibach springs (~2" all around), rolled fenders, 18" rims (staggered), rear spoiler, Tuix front lip kit, rear diffuser, LED fogs, LED DRLs, Halo LEDs, HID lows (35w/6000K), LED high beam, etc... etc... etc... And the weekend ride, my little pocket rocket... 2005 SLK55 AMG with 357 ground-pounding horses in a svelte 3500Ib skin....
