  1. I'm looking at a set of Nexen N'fera RU5s for my next set of tires. I've been hearing a lot of good things about them, and $500 for a set of 65K warranted tires ain't bad. They are a V rated tire, rating shows 104H for my stock 18"s. Car came with a set of Wild Spirit CXVs, not too bad, for Chinese brand, but only 40K tires. Nexens are S. Korean, so if I get them, I'll be sure to post my experience.
  2. Edmunds.com often has links to car listing, as well.

  6. Many of the newer vehicles are getting well over 300 K with good maintenance these days. I test drove a car with 312 K a while back and it was Solis as could be. (Lincoln Town Car) It was a 2002.
  7. We had two Luminas that required the intake manifold gasket replacement on the 3.1L,last one was a '98 we got with just under 190k on the odometer, beat and scratched all to hell, something splattered all over the interior, for $700. Drove it 5 years as the family car, and passed it down to a teen son that managed to kill the ignition switch in 3 months. They wanted over a grand to install and program the security feature. I looked at them like they had 3 heads, laughed, and to 'em where to stuff it as I walked out. Now we are busy loving our 08 Edge SEL, so much more fun to drive. Welcome to the Edge Forums!
  8. I wish they would offer the Edge as a diesel in the US! I also recently saw that Asia was getting a 7-passenger version of the newest Edge. Welcome to the forums!
  9. Nice ride. I understand the deal with the wheels, prefer the 18s myself. Prefer having some side wall to absorb the road shock. The wheels look cool, but larger wheels usually mean higher weight, and less wall. Friend of mine found out the 'hard' way, when he had several pothole-induced flats, and finally went back to his factory wheels.
  10. Something about contrast on the wheels, it looks good, dark car=bright wheels. Having the Orange Crush, I like the Dark Graphite look on them. That's a good looking Edge, for sure. As far as looking back to the 80s and 90s,todays cars just flat blow 'em away. Remember driving a stock Mustang GT in'89,and the '08 Edge I have now is just more fun to drive in comparison.
  11. Oh, and I forgot to mention finding them new in box for $20 on Craigslist, it made perfect sense to grab a bargain.
  12. Well, we have a lot of hills in the middle of Missouri, and I'm actually considering using them for personal preference, having used them before. They tended to be a bit cleaner, and quieter than organics. And while regular driving, stock brakes do the job well, put a ton of weight or more behind the vehicle, add hills and such, that extra grab and heat disappation can be appreciated.
  13. I've been using K&N since we had a 3.0L Vulcan powered Aerostar. We bought it with 85K on the odometer. It had a new paper filter when we bought it, and two weeks later, my wife drove I-44 in Missouri, and reported the the engine was dogging it. A week later, I installed the K&N and we took a trip down to the Lake of the Ozark with a full load of family and gear inside, and two roof carriers on top. The little van didn't miss a beat. On the Edge, you could feel the improved throttle response, and this is using just the stock air box. I ordered ours through Amazon, got it for roughly $25, shipped, and delivery was super fast. Another example, V-10 Ford Excursion. It had strong acceleration with the stock filter. First time I accelerated with the K&N, it chirped the tires with a moderate accel, which kind of startled me. That truck really benefitted with the extra air flow. Coupled with a 3" Gibson exhaust, we went from 13 to 18 MPG Highway. Still gave up the truck later, because even with better MPG, it was eating us out of house and home in gas expenses.
  14. None of that sounds normal in my book, especially as a former salesman some 20-odd years ago. My Edge is quite tight at 94K, and these problems you're describing are not right. Definitely need to escalate your complaint up the line.
  15. Glad I originally watched the video before I started prying on mine. Proper leverage allowed me to pop it off gently, and I was glad to find out Wally World sells replacements that cost less than some online outlets. The wiper that was on ours was gapped and rather useless, and now we get a clean swipe.
  16. Dropped in a K&N standard filter, right off the bat. Have planned upgrades pending, new suspension parts, ceramic brakes, and a few other tweaks are in the works. Debating going to a dark grille, and sport taillights and headlights, but haven't decided.
  17. Rear driver's side plug on a 3.0 Aerostar was a nightmare. Had to take it in and put it on a lift, and took a mechanic an hour to get it in.
  18. 08 SEL, here. Not overly loaded up, but far from base model. We have a slightly different color mix as we have the Graphite wheels instead of chrome or silver. Do have the cloth seats instead of leather, but negotiating with a fellow that has a full set of tan leather seating in almost new condition. Found a receiver hitch, recently, and I'm adding some other goodies to make our capabilities even better. Just love the way they made these vehicles!
  19. My wife calls ours 'The Spaceship'.
  20. I was reading an article recently where one of the biggest complaints people had was with infotainment systems, and people are dinging reviews for them, big time. Sad, but if something isn't dirt simple, there are gonna be complaints. My wife loves Sync, but then, she's taken time to get familiar with it, too.
  21. Hello from the middle of the country! My name is Jim, and we bought our Orange Crush Pearl Metallic 08 Edge last year. We drove one back in 07, a rental, to my wife's 20 year reunion. We wanted one after that trip, but things went banana wacky, and we had to put it off. When we saw the copper-colored model, we both gasped, and knew that one day, we'd love to have that very color. So, when the 97 Lincoln Town Car started getting finicky, I sent my wife to our local dealership, and by strange coinkydink, there was one being traded in as she started looking. It was splattered with mud and dust, but for her, it was love at first sight. So, the car had barely been assigned a stock number, but she drove it, dirt and all, and sent me pictures. I gave her the thumbs-up, and we were finally Edge owners. It was really neat to see after I got back home, that the original window sticker for the car was tucked into the back of the owners manual, and she was first sold in Omaha, NE. She's had 3 prior owners, all of whom took really good care of her. So, that's our Edge-troduction!
