  1. Thanks for the reply. I stopped by Ford and the Trans mechanic explained it's a rare occurrence and only had heard of this one other time. He reset a chip to default code (not sure which one)....have not had any problems since. Of course this only happened twice in 2/half years but both times in the last month. Question: Did Ford replace your trans valve body? Curious if they mentioned anything that may have caused this in your car...? Thanks - d
  2. 2008 SEL - Any thoughts on this occurrence would be appreciated: Today I slowed down on the main road to turn into into my driveway. I was moving pretty slow when I entered the driveway so I slightly pushed on the gas to drive up to the garage and to my surprise the tach was revving up but the Edge was just barely moving forward. I looked down at the gear shift as I thought it slipped into neutral or something...? I could rev the engine but the Edge just barely moved forward.I put it in reverse and then Drive again and it came back to normal. I had this same thing happen a month ago but I thought it was just some kind of low gear shift change or something. It's funny that it has only only occurred twice under the same situation: I slow down on the main road to turn into the drive....then push on the gas slightly and the tach revs but the car barely moves forward. It would be as if you're on an ice rink trying to accelerate. I have 32K miles on the SEL...has been a gem up unto this occurrence...? Thanks for any thoughts, Andy
  3. Thanks for the reply - I think it's just an isolated incident with the latch freezing as you had mentioned.
  4. 08 SEL with 30K miles: This morning the driver door couldn't be opened from the outside and I had to pull the lever inside from the passenger seat (the other doors operate OK). When I started the engine, the "Driver Door Ajar" alert on the dash stayed lit. After I drove for about 15 minutes, I opened and shut my driver door and the :Driver Door Ajar" sign went out. This has never happened before - I was thinking since the temps dropped in the teens over night, could this be a temperature related issue? Does anyone know of this scenario happening? The problem of course is that the Edge will not allow the doors to lock while I'm driving with a "Door Ajar" alert lit. I'm still under warranty and Ford said I would have to keep it overnight so the problem can be duplicated for them to look at. Thanks for any suggestions - A
  5. P245/60R18 - they do a good job. The dealer mentioned he has a sale running on Continentals that he claims wear better than the Michelins. Hmmmm..? Not sure what to make of Continentals vs Michelins but I'll stick with the Michs for now.
  6. I've had good experiences in all weather conditions with the 18 inch Michelins that came with my 08 SEL. Curious if anyone has used a different tire and liked it better than the Michelins for traction/control/snow/water..., etc...?
  7. FYI: I removed the under-hood heat shield and found the passenger side pray nozzle had cracked off where it connects to the fluid hose and was just hanging....hence the fluid was just pumping out under the hood. The Edge is under warranty so Ford replaced it at no cost. Not sure what caused it to crack in the first place,,,
  8. Enjoying the 2008 SEL - no complaints. I tried to clean my windshield yesterday and the driver side windshield sprayer nozzle (on hood) just dribbles and the passenger side quit spraying completely....? Any suggestions where I should start trouble shooting would be appreciated - thanks!
  9. I drive an 08 SEL - now 26000 miles - really enjoy the Edge but the AC vents could be more effective. Drove an 08 Taurus-X (same engine layout as Edge) and was surprised how cool and powerful the dash AC vents were. I was wondering if anyone has had to recharge the AC system refrigerant in their Edge....? Maybe this is a 30K mile check point at Ford?
  10. Alternative which I've purchased that is custom fitted and cuts down on the dash glare and heat build up (protects the dash also): http://www.dashtopper.com/
  11. I've driven an SEL FWD for 2 years and have never had a problem with pulling grades, hills, etc.. I disengage the 'over-drive' when pulling steeper grades to downshift which gives more RPMs and quicker acceleration. Ford seems to have done well on the auto trans gear ratios and overdrive in/out button. I have 18 in chrome clad wheels and get a lot of compliments on them......never thought about removing them so I['m not sure about the stock rims' appearance.
  12. Thanks - I've always used full synthetic 5W-20 in my SEL. After reading Amsoil's white paper I'm going to have the Ford dealer change the trans fluid to full synthetic.
  13. Curious if anyone has had the Edge trans oil changed with pure synthetic? Could you tell any difference in sound or gear shifting?
  14. I guess the Edge will still take 5 and half quarts for oil change and the newer filter?
  15. Why are you parting with the Edge?
