  1. Well, if it cleans the engine and give a little performance gain I do not care if it is essentially a dry K&N filter under a different name. I rather like K&N as a company, but just wanted to use oil-free air filters when I drive cars under warranty ,so the powers that be can not use the air filter oil as an excuse to not repair my car.
  2. Do you have the drop-in filter or air intake filter kit? FYI, I have never got good mileage from any performance filter if I floor it. Only when I drive conservatively do I notice the extra mpgs, if any. My wife do drives more easy going than me so the Edge should see some fuel economy improvements over time. Do the Edge have adaptive automatic transmission shift logic that adapts to the driver style of driving?
  3. Well, I just installed the AFE Dry S filter and it fits perfectly in the air-box. Now I will have to test it sometime when the wife lets me drive the Edge. Here how it looks installed.
  4. Hi everyone. I am new to this forum and I am a certified tweak-er. Today I will install my new AFE Dry S to my new acquired 2011 Edge 3.5. I would do a how-to on changing the air filter ,but it too simple. However, I will give some feedback on how the Dry S performs of the 3.5 engine over time. I used to buy K&N oiled filters until I got wind of these. I used a AFE Dry S on a 2010 VW CC 3.6 I used to own, and it worked pretty good by giving my CC better throttle response and a couple of extra mpgs. So, I will try it on the 2011 Edge 3.5. Here is a pic of the filter.
  5. Thank you. Good to know, because my wife really likes this car. I guessed that it could be one of the two problems or maybe even both. I have an service appt. with Ford next week so I will get the specifics on what the problem is at that time.
  6. Hi everyone. I am the new owner of a loaded Black 2011 Ford Edge SEL AWD. It only has 22000 miles of the clock and seems like a decent used car so far. However, I have noticed a couple things about it after a close inspection recently. For one, it drips black oily like fluid near the belts that leaves stains on my garage floor, and has oil residue on the engine block on the upper rear of the transmission. Two, the power-steering fluid reservoir was very low on fluid(about an inch below the low mark). Is the 2011 Ford Edge a reliable car to own for the long term or any year Ford Edge? What do you high mileage owners think or have experience dealing with when it comes to this particular car? So far it looks like I may be putting my mechanic skills to use after my Ford power-train and extended 36 month comprehensive bumper-to-bumper warranty expires. P.S. The only ever Ford car I have owned was an 2005 Mercury Montego Premier AWD, which was trouble free until I sold it when it hit 100k miles due it having the discontinued CVT transmission( I only had to change the spark plugs, oil, and brake pads during my ownership).
  7. Thank you. I have just bought a loaded 2011 Edge SEL AWD with 22000 a few days ago, and just noticed that it leaves a oil spot on my garage floor near the front passenger side under the pulley/radiator area. I will take it to the dealer next week to address it, and look at the rear near the transmission since I noticed some oily residue near the PTU/rear engine area when I crawled underneath it for a more in-dept inspection. Not a good start to my new relationship with my Ford Edge or the dealership I bought the car from. Luckily, I bought an extended full comprehesive 36 month warranty to buff the remaining Ford powertrain warranty considering a Ford service guy told me over the phone that the fluid on the floor could be coming from the power steering pump, transmission cooler, or ac condenser which are not covered by the power train warranty.
  8. I have a similar black oily residue on my passenger side. However, I look at the PTU and it looks dry in the area except some old residue on the block. Where is the PTU vent?
