Our ford edge kept up with a vette the other night........ not smoked....but kept up.  we probably dont count tho

And your about 150 hp on a tuned ST, based on Xtras rules you totally smoked it.

Please don't confuse what happened in the video., all my comments are about what happened in the video . The Vette spun out and the ST drove away from it therefor smoking it. In another time or place the Vette would smoke the ST but in this video it did not happen that way. If it was the last lap of a race it would have been Lambo First, ST Second and the Vette in Third place. I am not saying anything like the ST is faster than a C6 Vette.  Never said that. Just talking about what happened in the video. I posted the C1 through C3 Vette 1/4 mile times just for comparison.  How amazing that a 2.7L SUV is as fast as a Big Block C3 LS6 solid lifter 454 with a 4 speed @13.8 seconds.  And the ST gets much better MPG.

ROFL, comparing a carbureted, outdated engine to a car made 4 decades later?! I mean okay, ST is as fast as the Lambo Miura but I don’t think anyone cares why.

How amazing, a fuel injected twin turbo vehicle with 4 more speeds on the trans and with 40 years of technology can beat an outdated dinosaur in a straight line ??

I’m sure the Vette driver went home and posted on the C5 forums (cause that Vette is a C5) asking how he can beat an ST... and he/she didn’t get smoked, they got out driven, there’s a difference

Omg this forum has gotten terrible over the years.

91 pump gas, full tank with spare tire and jack , 100F,  DA over 5,000. 91 Tune. Last Year first time at track.

I was trying to get to the track all winter in hopes of getting a better day with lower DA  a 93 tune and race gas on a 1/4 tank without the spare and jack. But it was a very wet winter and the track canceled the Wednesday Night Street Races. I am posting this as I am out of commission for a few months and the weather is getting hot again so there is no reason to race with a super high DA and high temps. I know the car has more in it and I have made some more mods to it. Perhaps if I get lucky and they host a street race day I will be able to race in the fall and then we will see what she is capable of. Until then here is my time slip when I raced the BMW M4.

You can find the DA here -> https://airdensityonline.com/track-history/Auto_Club_Speedway/2018-09-06/

Also whats the mod list again?  Upgraded turbos? Intercooler? Exhaust?

So I just flashed car after saving stock map.  Put in 93 octane tune and started the vehicle. It began to idle rough and check engine light came on. I immediately turned car off and reinstalled stock map. Car started fine without issues or lights.

I think the issue is that I have some residual 89 octane in car.  Yesterday I had about 2 gallons of 89 oct in tank. I put in 8 gallons of 93 and was hoping I would be able to tune car. Apparently not.  Will have to dilute this gas even more tomorrow with 93 oct.  Sorry for the delay guys

You didnt try driving the car to see if the CEL would turn off? Or even run a scan to see what the code was? Fuel shouldnt be throwing a code.

Its not bad gas.  No idle or start up changes are made on tunes.  It’s a bad flash or LMS uploaded the wrong tune.

  5. Thanks for the review.  Three things..

    1. Are you located near a track in the New England area?  Be interested to see real world results.

    2. What did you use to measure 0-60 1/4 mile times?

    3. The 21psi you are referring to is found in the Focus ST manual, not the Edge ST manual based on what I can see online, feel free to show otherwise as I am going to highly doubt 21psi is the stock psi as that puts it on the same boost as a tuned vehicle. 6. Per post #228 in topic string: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/21117-intercooler-sport/page-12

We are road racers, not draggers

We are over 60 and no longer have to prove or substantiate ourselves however, as a courtesy to 037, yourself and few others we are working towards making that happen strickley out of courtesy.

However, there have been several failed attempts made to date to provide slips but for one reason or another something would interfere with providing good solid data i.e. excessively high DAs, weather, track wait times due to accidents or fouling and my favorite "BLOWN OFF BOOST TUBE HOSE...LOL

If it AIN'T one thing it's another but we'll be relentless and do our due diligence to make it happen before the winter shutdown.

I don’t think anyone is doubting claims or saying you need to prove yourself, but 1/4 mile times speak bigger then whp numbers...

  7. I am just learning about DA and how it effects the car. Unfortunately I don't know the DA the one day I tested. All I know is the elevation of the track is 1,158.1 FT and it was 100*F and the car fought for traction.. I found that the track has a site with the DA by the hour. Looking at 93*F today and a 3,938 DA at the track. At 100*F it would be have been more than 4,000, -1100 DA thats nuts. My 60 ft was 1.942 that day. I have decided that there is no reason to race the car when it is over 90*F so it may be awhile before I run again.

Ah, I see now what you ran. We’ll go when you can when it’s cooler out and good luck! Hope you can dip into the 12’s soon.

  8. That is fast ! The track must have been sticky to get that and you hooked up good. If you use the correction chart above your 12.7 would be even faster . Do you know the DA when you ran that record? I would be interested in seeing what you would have run at sea level.

It was -1100 or so DA for the 12.7, so not going faster if you go to 0 DA unfortunately.

What was your time and DA?

  9. Today at work with it being a holiday on Monday is slow. So got thinking about E30. Only issue is around my house I do not have anything for E85. From work I have a station about 2 miles down the road. Not finding much on the Edge and E30 but the Focus forms there is a lot of reading.

Just wondering have many of you tried running E30? If so are you running anything that shows how good your fuel mix is? Seeing the RS guys running a flex-fuel sensor and gauge. Not sure is there is a setup like this that will fit the Edge. I am going to keep reading up. Thought I would ask to see what we have done.

    Ran E15, E30, E50 in the Edge.

No external modifications needed such as sensors or gauges. Stock is not recommended to go over E15, if you are tuned there is a tune for it.

  10. Earlier this year we had 3 vehicles from different tuners in the 12 second quarter mile drag racing club. Right now we are down to 1 and I already have a replacement vehicle.

It would be really nice to see a few more Edges running 12s before I give up my keys in January.

See drag times for current record listing.

    http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford--Edge-Drag-Racing.html

List of my mods: Livernois V3 tune, KN drop in filter, LMS 160 tstat, HR springs, 20" light weight wheels with 245 x4 summer tires.

As you can see, nothing extreme. Hope to see you in the 12s this year!

You should really add DA to these records in your signature and posts. Guys in Texas don't get the luxury of having -1000 DA for their 1/4 mile runs like us up in the Northeast.

Nothing extreme... true, but a DA swing in the +1300 range and your 12 second Edge just turned into a mid 13 second Edge overnight.

  11. Answers:

    1. Don't know

    2. Think it was 3rd gear.

    3. Turbos are not stock and move more air. This why I posted here.

    4. Thanks, we think so as well .

    5. EB programing will always run the most timing possible then the knock sensor kicks in and retards it. We did not disconnect the knock sensor.

Thanks for the info. Seems like the wrong gear and will give higher numbers but the dyno is impressive non the less. Boost stock should be lower as if they are moving more air it would require less psi to make the commanded torque and load.

Most timing yes, but are you seeing 10* or 20*?

Also interested in trap speed times as it appears you are FWD and you won’t be breaking any records with stock tires.

  12. Xtra, took some time for me to find this post but I just wanted to get on the same page.

I went racing on Friday in 80 degree heat with 2000DA and the LMS v3 93 tune fell straight on its face.

I got 2 runs close to 14 flat at 95mph, car was getting stuck in 4th gear and refused to shift to 5th.

    I upped the octane to about 97 and went 13.4 @ 103.

Upped tune to 100 and smaller issue in 4th gear, trapped only 101 even though 1/8 started out 1mph higher than 93 tune.

Went back to 93 tune and back to 103mph trap speed.

Point is, I think I see the source of your low power issue on LMS v3 and I think they over cooked the tune.

I was racing in the 40s and did not have that issue so our view points were different.

Since I'm not on LMS payroll I call them like I see them.

I sent them a message to alert them to the issue.

Hopefully this helps with your build too.

Point is DA will effect power, Friday was +1300 to +1950 DA with a lot of humidity. In the 40’s with little humidity and -1000DA the car will run like a champ.

Slips to back up the above post, ran 10 times on Friday @ Island Dragway with GT500Rs X3 M40i.

    STOCK M40i ; )

  13.

You shouldn't be drag racing on the street, therefore it's negligible in daily driving.

Nice pivot, but there was no drag racing involved, and again shows the difference is huge when accelerating from a light or on a highway :shift:

The current Edge Sport already goes 0-60 in that same range. The ST is at least a few tenths faster. I would say maybe closing in on FuSpo territory for straight line performance.

But back to the original comment, not in the same range.
