  1.

And your point is? How many different trim levels are there, and with how many different engines are within those trim levels? Basically what I was saying is that just because a Titanium has a moonroof, doesn't mean it has different springs than a Titanium without a moonroof with everything else being the same (wheel size, engine, AWD etc)

  2. Lots of manufacturers price parts on model trims. Have a high end model, it may be the same as a base model part but because you paid more dor your vehicle we gonna make you pay more for a part. All about taking advantage of the unknown

What does the price of parts have to do with my post about springs?

  3. Can't comment on something I don't understand. But different part numbers can be for any difference. Even the same model year with & without vista roof would have different part numbers.

No, they wouldn't. A different trim level might have different spring part numbers, but having different options (except tire size) has nothing to do with what springs it has within that trim level. Now on a truck, that's a different story.

  4. I think they received a lot of negative feedback when pricing was announced two months ago. This has caused them to delay releasing it until they re-think the upfront and monthly costs. I'm not paying $12 a month just to use the remote start feature, especially when owners with the system built in have it free for 5 years. And who really would use the wifi hotspot in the thing with many people having unlimited cell phone data plans? They need to offer it for a one-time fee (no more than $200) and $0 a month to use the basic features.

  5. Getting ST in 3 to 5 months?

Most likely not. One of the other reasons that pushed me to an '18 is I don't care for the looks of the '19's. The 15-18's look more aggressive to me. The '19's look like a step back in the styling department. Plus I'm sure the price of the ST will be well over 50K. Mine stickered for just over 48K as it is. Also don't care for the rotary shifter as I like to rest my wrist on the shifter handle while screwin' with the radio. :)

  6. For some reason I think the Edge is the perfect size/vehicle for my needs and I love everything about the Sport version. Hence the reason I have leased 3 Edge's in a row.

    2015 Sport AWD Silver 401A

    - Loved the power and looks

    - Hated the constant creeks and rattles from the Vista roof

    - Quite a few TSB's and SSM's on this early build model

    2016 Titanium AWD 2.0L Magnetic 301A

    - Regretted trading my Sport for the 4cyl model almost immediately

    - Seemed underpowered to me

    - Gas mileage not the greatest, 20mpg average mostly city driving

    - Got out of my 3 year lease 22 months early as I disliked it that much

2018 Sport AWD White Platinum 401A

    - My favorite one so far

    - Love the power (still) and looks (still)

    - Not one squeak or rattle (only 1000 miles so far)

    - Don't care for the new chunky keyfob

    - Wish it was available with Sync Connect

    - Hope the windshield wiper de-icer keeps wipers clear of ice in winter

Some things I've noticed that have changed on the 2018 versus the earlier ones. Not sure if the changes began in 2017 or 2018

    Losses:

    - Ambient lightning no longer under the front seats shining on the back floor, no longer in the front door pockets either

    - Little drawer below headlight switch has been replaced with a removable door to nowhere (looking to swap this out)

    Additions

    - Under certain temps when using the remote start, heated/cooled seats and heated wheel stay activated when vehicle turned on to drive

    - Heated/cooled seats will revert to last setting the next time car is driven (If remote start not used first)

  7. Last week I traded in my '16 Sport for an '18 Sport. Tonight while walking up to the rear of it in the dark I noticed the reverse LED lights were on when the taillights are on. In this situation the reverse lights are at a reduced intensity vs being in reverse gear. I would say about 5% brightness. Has anyone else noticed this on a '17 or '18 model? Normal or is something not configured right?

  8. Could someone with a factory hitch please take a couple measurements for me? I'd like to know on level ground what the measurement is from the ground to the bottom of the receiver and from the bottom of the red reflector in the bumper to the top of the receiver.

Going to figure out roughly about where it would land if it was installed on the Sport.

    Thanks in advanced!

Ground to receiver is 14". Bottom of reflector to top of receiver is 7 1/2".

  9. You can return it to any dealer. Sounds like your original dealer wanted yours on return to resell it.

Here in the States when you turn in your lease it has to go to auction. The dealer you turn it in to cannot keep it, unless they buy you out of the lease early. And I believe they cannot even do that with less than 4 months remaining on the lease.

  10. The F150 does not have the vista roof. It is considerably heavier than a normal moonroof and the normal pinch sensors used to detect an obstruction don't work so they don't allow auto-close.

    You sure about that?

And they do have auto-close on the vista roof, I have driven a few with it and wondered myself why my Edge doesn't have that feature.

  11. Would you happen to have part numbers for all the parts or if it comes in a "kit"??

    Dual USB cable JL1T-14D202-GA

Dual outlet cover FB53-045N67-A ('16+ Explorer rear of console)

Single outlet cover FB53-R045N22-A ('16+ Explorer inside center console)

    Power inverter GU5T-19J211-AA

Wiring connector for inverter WPT-982 (6U2Z-14S411-JB)

Only the 2 outer wires are used for power and ground. See pic above for power (yellow) and ground (black) as the service parts may have all the same color wires.

I got most of my parts on ebay so the outlet cover part numbers might be engineering numbers, but the dealer should be able to cross reference the service numbers.

  12. Since the kids are always on their phones or iPads in the car I decided to install a couple Smart Charging USB outlets using all factory parts that's available in the newer Explorers. I suppose I could have just used adapters in the existing 12V outlets but that's no fun, plus the Smart Charging ones allow a faster charge, especially on the iPad's. I did the 2nd row version on my '15 Edge and simply transferred the whole panel to my '16. That portion required some trimming of the panel to allow the USB mount to fit where the 12V originally was. I decide to install another charging outlet in the front passenger area as I have an iPod continually plugged into one of the radio USB's and my phone plugged into the other.

Parts needed for charge ports, only 2 wire connections using the existing 12V wires.

Stock outlet in front passenger area

Parts needed are the same, except I separated the dual USB wires, and used the single mounting plug that's used inside the center console of the '16+ Explorers

Need to remove 2 side panels, simply pull out.

Power converter tapped into the existing 12V plug

    Power converter secured inside console

Everything put back together, can be put back to stock at any time and took all of 10 min for complete install

  13. You need wiring to connect the modem regardless. When you plug into the OBD-II port you're using the OBD-II port wiring which is already present in every vehicle.

But the factory sync connect solution doesn't plug into the OBD-II port - it requires dedicated wiring which isn't present in all vehicles.

The upcoming OBD plug-in device will allow the use of the Ford Pass app to start, unlock, locate your vehicle and all of the features currently available in vehicles that have Sync Connect from the factory. Instead of the modem being hard wired into the vehicle it's in the plug-in device itself.

  14. Any rattling issues in the 2017 with Vista roof?

My early build 2015 had a few ticks/rattles with the Vista Roof, especially when the outside temperature was over 70 degrees. When the temperature dropped below 20 degrees and I first drove it in the morning it would creak so bad I thought it would shatter at any time. On my late build 2016 I have not heard one peep from the Vista Roof, or any where else in the vehicle for that matter. I think the early build bugs are finally worked out.

  15. Really doesn't do much unless you have the 2017 year model. Than you can remote start and unlock doors via its 4G connectivity Pretty much like GM OnStar

Sync Connect is not available on the Edge yet, only the 2017 Escape, 2017 Fusion and 2017 F150 have it now. With the upcoming Ford Smartlink device you will be able to use all the features currently available with Sync Connect / Ford Pass on earlier models.
