  1. Loosen filter cartridge cover to allow oil to drain down.

Remove oil drain plug (plastic type and can be done by hand). Replace drain plug.

Replace filter cartride and use new supplied o-ring. Re-install cartridge cover.

Fill engine with oil. Allow 15 minutes for oil level to read correctly as there is a chamber where the dipstick goes in to that has to fill.

  2. Dealer is installing tow package on my 2015 Sport next week. He is including a 7 pin connector and transmission oil cooler but said I didn't need a larger capacity radiator as tow limit is only 3500 lbs. Does this sound right or do I need the larger radiator? Thanks

The tow rating on the Sport is 2000lbs, check the owners manual. Having the dealer install any of the listed items does not increase it's capacity.

  3. I noticed that the '16 Explorer is available with Smart Charging USB ports in the rear of the center console for 2nd row passengers. SInce this is more useful for my kids to charge their electronics than the standard 12v oulet, I decided to see if I could install one in my '15 Edge. I found a wrecked '16 Explorer online and had them send me the whole rear panel. I used the outlet cover, USB cords and the power inverter. Only had to connect 12v and ground and used the existing wires from the 12v plug I replaced. Just had to use a dremel to make the outlet cover fit. Took about 30 min total.

  4. Do not go by the people on the website chats, they have no idea besides the specs in front of them. Trust me, the seat backs are supposed to be cooled also. There are two fans in each seat, one in the bottom and one in the seat back. I've seen the dealer repair manual and it specifically states there are two fans. The repair illustrations also show two fans. It's a poor design with no way to get ambient cabin air to the seat back, and no way to exhaust it out. I have looked at my seats to see if there was a modification I could do to get cool air inside the seatback but there is no easy way to get to the fans. The whole seatback is basically sealed up. The F150 is easilly accessible with a zipper while the Edge is sewn up and uses metal rings to hold it down.

  5. Hmm .. i did not even know the back of the seats were supposed to cool too. Now that you guys mention it the back of my seats don't really cool only the bottom does. I have a Titanium. Should i take it to the deal or just wait it out? Does this mean that in the winter time the back of the seats should heat up as well ??

Take it to the dealer, the more people that complain about the same issue the better chance it getting investigated and resolved.

  6. I've searched, but does anyone know the actual summer tire used? I have not seen one Edge in my area (NJ) with them actually optioned on. And looking at summer tire prices for 21" wheels, $995 is a freaking steal. And even though my area doesn't really require a winter wheel/tire setup, I like to go that route.

And for those who have stayed with the AS, have you liked the Pirelli's that are on? I have had Pirelli's on older Audis and have hated them. So it's a mild concern of mine to have a new vehicle with Pirellis. They do get good reviews on tirerack but curious what owners here feel.

Optional summer tires are Pirelli P-Zero. Same model as the summer tires on Mustang GT's.

  7. Ya know, I was starting to think it didn't have cooling in the back part of the seat. Checked the parts catalog, and it does indeed have 2 cooling fans per seat. The fan motor for both the F-150 and the Edge are the same. As mentioned, no TSB for the Edge, only the F-150 and it basically says to just cut away some of the material from the inside of the seat cover..

The TSB for the F-150 has a date of Sept. 8th.

It also says to replace the blower motor with an updated part that has a redesigned air intake.
