  1. Mine cracked a couple months back. Don't have any idea what caused it. Didn't seem to be hit by anything according to the repair guy. We have never had it open so it didn't crack due to movement. The crack started on the front edge of the glass about 3 inches in on the passenger side and made a U shape all the way around to almost the front edge of the glass on the driver side. It was not a cheap piece of glass. Sure glad I have glass replacement on my insurance policy!
  2. I took the car back into the dealership in March. They put all new rotors on and also "sanded" the brake pads. We were able to go 1300 miles before they starting howling again. Which is the longest we have ever gone without squealing or howling. The dealership had us bring it in but could not duplicate the problem. I will have to wait until it gets more consistent and then take it back in.
  3. Ford Customer Service instructed me to take the car back to the dealership once again to verify if there truly is a problem. Guess what, they said there is definitely a problem. Now we have to drop the car off Monday so they can troubleshoot the problem again. In the last month the noise is slowly getting louder and now there is a ever so slight vibration in the brake pedal. Maybe they will just start from scratch with new calipers, rotors, and pads. Probably not though.
  4. I never stated it was a good or bad idea. And I do believe more that one individual gave examples of more than one case where they benefitted from an ESP. $7500 expense spread over 5 vehicles is not a lot of money for piece of mind. In the case of "abused' vehicles ESP would not cover that anyway. I could not disagree with you more on the gamble of an ESP. The big gamble is not buying one. I guess one shouldn't buy life insurance because the odds or that you will not die tomorrow. Or heck screw buying auto insurance, the odds are I am not going to be in an accident. If you want to talk about odds stacked in the house's favor look at a profit/loss of a major insurance company. With the cost of parts nowadays it is pretty easy to have an ESP pay for itself in one visit. I had my rear tail lamp brake light go out on my '15 Edge today. Guess what there is no bulb to change had to replace the entire lamp assembly. Had this lamp gone out in 3 years from now...$895 for the part plus labor(if you don't install it yourself). Was the brake lamp 'abused' maybe my wife does tend to use them more than most. Or was I "unlucky". If you truly believe in luck, I have some cans of moon air I would like to sell you. I will give you a great price. Only $7500. I kid, I kid. And no, I do not make a living selling warranties. Yes, some may see an ESP as a gamble. Or, maybe look at it another way. If your salesman tells you after you drop $42K on your new vehicle that for an additional $2K you will not have to worry about any major repair bills for 4 years after your 3 year factory warranty(or until 75K miles total) does it now seem like that big of a gamble. And in my opinion if you can afford $42K for a vehicle you can afford another $2K. I hope you receive good info from both sides while trying to make a decision to buy the ESP. Good luck. LOL
  5. I have an ESP on all 4 of my current Ford's. And had it on a '11 Edge that I no longer have. It paid for it self on the Edge when the power steering pump failed and the alternator failed. I just got my '11 F150 back two days ago after $4000 of work done. Head gaskets, 2 injectors, and a water pump. All covered by my ESP. I bought these vehicles brand new and they have all been serviced by the dealership at the proper intervals. Unless you trade off every couple years in my experience the ESP is well worth it. I prefer Ford's ESP simply because it is less hassle than a third party plan. Don't have to wait for approvals or arguing with the warranty people. Just drop off the vehicle get loaner and go. FYI the '11 Edge I had was totalled in a wreck a year into the ESP. I received a refund check for around $700 from Ford. Definitely well worth it in this case.
  6. I have found that the surround setting sounds much better than stereo. After several months of minor adjustments I have it sounding decent. Not anywhere near as good as sound as my '11 Edge with the Sony system. I ended up backing down the bass a bit and bumping up the mids to even it out. Treble is maxed and could still use a little more. I would love to replace the speakers but I have enough small creeks and rattles to deal with now. I'm afraid pulling door panels would create more.
  7. The car has 7,500 miles. I am trying to avoid coming out of pocket for aftermarket pads. I am gonna stand my ground on this and make Ford fix it. The crazy thing is it is all 4 wheels not just one. And they are right, the rotors are glazing. Looks like dried Coke on rotors, and they have a tacky feel to them. From the lack of responses to this thread, it doesn't look like others are having an issue. So I don't believe this is "normal". What really pisses me off is that the dealership agrees that there is definitely a problem. It is Ford that won't pay to find the problem. I am going to have to put Ford Customer Service on my speed dial.
  8. Thought I would post an update. Took the car back in as the brakes are getting even louder now. I am being told that the noise is no longer an issue, now it is considered normal. So basically Ford has changed their story. They are instructing me to bring the car in every time the brakes squeal and the will deglaze the rotors. The problem is they start squealing a few days after the deglaze them. I am getting tired of people stopping me in the parking lot to let me know my brakes sound really bad. Guess this is going to be another battle like the cooled seats. I am going to edit this. I would no longer consider this a brake squeal. It is now very loud howl.
  9. I have had my Fwd edge into the dealership 3 times now for squealing brakes during light to moderate braking. The squealing comes from all 4 wheels. The dealership has replaced all the pads with a "newer version" and deglazed the rotors. None of this has corrected the problem. They suggested I ride it out and get some miles on it to "bed" the brakes. That was 4500 miles ago and the noise is getting slightly worse. Is anyone having similar issues? Any suggestions?
  10. Which Hankook tire did you have? Also Discount doesn't stock Hankook tires they are "special order", maybe try another shop to see if they may have them in inventory.
  11. Had a warm day here. I left the car in the sun for a few hours. Took it and drove it. I still have no cooling in the seat back. It doesn't get warm like it used to, but there is no cool air like the seat bottom has. IMO this TSB is a failure. I will let Ford know again. Very frustrating.
  12. Got my edge back this evening. Not sure if the seat back is now "cooling" but it is definitely not getting warm anymore. It was a cool day here so hard to tell if they were actually cooling. The fans do sound different, kinda like the aren't as restricted. Will post again on a warmer day if they feel like they are actually cooling.
  13. Between the Edge and my daughters Fiesta, Ford will be doing a lot of greasing.
  14. I did get a response back form Ford Customer Service regarding my case. They said they are aware of the problem but at this time there is no fix for the issue. I spoke with the rep this morning and she checked the status of my case once again for me. It states as of today "No repair at this time". I have been instructed to check with my service rep from time to time to see if a TSB has been issued. Not exactly the response I was expecting. I thought they would at least notify me when a fix became available. After dealing with the dealership and now Ford Customer Service the impression I get from their responses to this issue is that cooled seats aren't a big deal and why are you complaining. I guess I will start bugging the dealership every couple of weeks and hope a TSB comes down soon.
  15. I currently have a case number for this issue. Waiting for Ford Regional to contact me as to how they want to proceed. The representative on the phone made it sound like they were going to want me to bring my Edge back to the dealership for further troubleshooting. I spoke with my service guy at the dealership and he says there is nothing else they can do until Ford comes up with a fix. According to my dealership some type of exhaust ducting will have to be installed in the seat back to get the hot air out. Will post more when I hear back from the regional reps.
