  1. quote name='Papa' post='24947' date='Feb 16 2009, 09:49 PM']Thanks for your input. I knew that it would be close by starting at 2800 dry. My wife and I will be the only ones traveling, so we might not have as much stuff as a larger family would. But I bet it adds up! What difference does it make as to putting the stuff in the Edge vs the trailer? Does the total car and trailer weight come into play as well? I have attached a picture of the camper. What is the dry weight for your Fleetwood? Thanks! This should help. WE have the Sunvalley with AC,Furn,& hotwater heater. About 2500-2600Lbs Loaded. Bryce noted earlier that the total weight was 8400Lbs Works for me.FleetwoodFoldingCampingTrailersBrochure2008.pdf :happy feet:
  2. I think you may be pushing it. You need to take into account the frontal area. This is the front of the camper that offers wind resistance. Also some campers do not include the battery and AC in their dry weight. Your STUFF!!,and propane, water add too. I do not carry water in my unit. You only have 350lb hitch weight on your Edge so you are going to be very close if not over. I have a Fleetwood Sunvalley with sway unit and brake controller. When loaded it has about 250lb hitch weight and gets around 18-19 MPG. Tows like a dream. The sway unit and brake controller is a must. I have pushed limits on TV/trailer combos before and it really was not much fun to drive.
  3. I agree. I get the same type of mileage #'s you have and only have 3300 miles on it. Just changed my oil with Mobile 1 yesterday and am going to the Outerbanks next week. Lot of open road to see how it does. I think a heavy foot is the main problem. Got to admit it's fun, but I enjoy the difference between the Edge and the F250 deisel I traded for it in reduced cost to operate.
  4. I know this is off topic but ,a lot of people are complaning about the gas milage. I have 3,200 miles on mine and average 19 MPG and get between 23 to 25 on the highway. It's fun to drive and the lower MPG could sometimes be due to that FUN factor. :happy feet:
  5. I have had both. A 2004 Escape and now a 2008 Edge. Love them both with no problems at all. Guess love is blind.
  6. Welllll , guess I will let you guys know how it goes when I get back.
  7. Going to the Outer banks next week, has anyone had their AWD Edge in the sand. :hyper:
  8. We are using the class 2 hitch that Ford uses from the factory. I have only towed the trailer about 100 miles but it towed great. The unit weighs about 2400lbs - 2500lbs with every thing in it. We got 21mpg but will really put it to the test this weekend. I did install a brake controller and have electric brakes on the trailer. You should consider brakes for your unit. Some of the trailers like yours have surge brakes that do not need a controller. Botton line is plenty of power and no squatting in the back. With 2000lbs you will barely notice it back there. I towed in overdrive on the interstate but will probably take it out when we get in areas where there is a lot of up and down hills. Did fine on the interstate. Hope this helps.
  9. WE have 2008 Edge SEL AWD with tow package and am looking to add a transmission temp gauge. Just Bought a Fleetwood Sun Valley popup and have been really impressed with how the Edge pulled. Nice and level from trailer rear bumper to Edge front bumper. Just thought the gauge would be a nice for insurance. Any ideas as to mounting,type,vender,ect.... Thanks George & Karen
