Well if anyone is looking for a factory subwoofer, minus the plastic enclosure let me know and I could be talked into getting rid of the factory enclosure as well. I also have the original door speakers if anyone wants to buy them. Lee

I am just trying to figure out the factory amp uses a speaker level input? I know it plugs into the little amplfier with a square plug. So just get an RCA converter and that will work? Also is it true mono going back to the amp? Lee

Well I washed the tail lights with soap and water then rinsed off then used rubbing alcohol to the lens and wiped off as well. For the other person who posted on here, they look good, glad you shared what you used. It takes approximately 3 coats to turn aroound 35% and then a few more and it will be totally black. I used the testers brand, but any translusent black paint will work, it is all in the prep and having a dust free zone and laying the paint on it good, overlay it only 50% per swipe and always start the can before you have it on the lens just in case it spits out like any spray paint might do. You can use high end automotive paint from a store that can put it into a can for you as well, but here it is $20.00 per can. I showed my results and like them, like I said I screwed up the first time by trying to rush it. If you did not like the testers paint, try the other one that is listed on here and see if it works better, but as for any paint job the prep work is where the paint job is at. I have painted my wife's Edge lights, my neighbors Nissan and also painted a custom chopper tail light with great results. Also remember after you get the black right, clear coat it, it will look foggy at first and then when dries will be protected, but if not then probably will do it again in a year or so. Lee

I agree the Ford Edges come with Semi-Syntnetic from the factory, the only reason not full synthetic is the cost. But all new vehicles can use synthetic from 0 miles all the way up. As for K & N filters, I have used them on all my race vehicles and on road vehicles with the best of luck, it is just an opinion thing. If in a dusty climate a pre-charger is recommended but if using a K & N filter you can not just spray it and get it soaking wet with the oil. Also they work better when they do get dirty and do not recommend cleaning for 50,000 miles but of course I clean it every 5,000 miles. I have raced the Baja 500 and 1000 as well as district 38 AMA and never had an engine failure with K & N and some people use the foam type and never have failure either, it is preference, yes the paper allows more air then foam but the Edge's airbox is enclosed and not running a conical style air filter as in cold ai intakes. My experience is 22 years certified mechanic, I also am OMC certified as well as Paxman Valenta racing diesel RP200M certified and racing offroad vehicles since I was 5 years old. I believe in K & N and IMO they work great as well as synthetic, less heat, more HP and MPG as well. Also take a look at Amsoil site, they will provide analysis on their oil and do not recommend oil changes for 25,000 miles and I put in my 05 Harley and lowered engine temp but 18 degrees, which is a lot for an air cooled engine and dyno tested 3 more HP and got 2 more MPG.... Look under Ford Edge Accessories online and there is some stuff you can buy that is plug and play for the radio system in the Edge. It is a Blaupunkt package which consists of a bazoka style tube with a 12" woofer and a Blaupunkt Amplifier and all the plug in cables, not wiring to the battery at all it uses the stock harness. It is expensive too, but if you want to keep it all factory Ford this is the way to do it. I contacted my dealer here and they were able to find information about it but do not know how to install it and never did one. It is a 300 Watt amplifier and one 12" that gets strapped in the cargo space. So if that is what you are looking for there is some information. I for one am an MECP installer and installed a converter and plugged in my own amp and wired a new 8 inch woofer but am going to put a new amp in and wire up some 12" woofers. I was scared about it since I have a 7 year 70,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty but this does not void the warranty, only if it can be proven that your system did whatever might be the problem if warranty work is needed. Will try and get clearer pics of the tail lights best my cheap digital camera did at the time will have to break out the super slicer dicer camera. But for $20.00 and a few hours of your own time it is worth it and it turns out really nice. Just remember that the prep and having a dust free area when painting helps in the finish. As stated if you do not feel like you can do the job, I will do it for you, just send your tail lights to me, with return shipping paid for and I can do it and have it back in 24 hours... I will only charge $75.00 not including shipping and if you want to have them back ASAP then pay for overnight both ways and have them back in about 3 days. I will make them as dark or light as you want and can do your emblems as well. But since I like to save money I would honestly do it yourself, one can of Testers Transparent Black is $4.99 and it will take 3 cans and 1 can of clear coat and that is the same price. So approximately $20.00 in material, pull the light off so no masking needs to be done and it is easy. I messed up first time trying to rush, so use light coats to do it, let me know when someone else does it and how they think about it. Lee

I posted in another tint posting and was asked to remove it because it is a posting on his business, but I thought you can add positive and negative postings, I guess when you share information about how tinting tail lights or head lights and emblems it upsets people who do it. Here is the picture of my rear tail light with 3 passes on it and it can go completely black but my state law is 35% so 65% light must be able to be seen when brakes are applied. I have tinted my own tail lights using transparent Black paint and clear coating after the three coats I applied dried and I am amazed at the results. I will post a few pictures, but if you want to save a lot of money and are not afraid to do it yourself then for about $15.00 in material you can tint your own lights. I got the tip from a custom shop here that tints tail lights and emblems and they use different transparent paints but the funny thing is that it is Testers Model Paint they use, I walked into their shop and watched how they did it. It is really easy and you can add coats to make as dark or light as you want too. If you mess up it is easy to come off as well, took me twice to get it right since I had a run in the paint the first time, but that was my fault trying to rush it. If you have any questions feel free to write, but they also use the Transparent Red to make tail lights more red, but Testers Has a lot of transparent paint and this is what is used on the lights so the tail lights can still shine thru. Did you have to use one of their LED flashers or did you use individual resistors on the tail and turn signals? I bought the same bulbs and mine super flash and I was told I need an LED flasher from superled or resistors. If you bought the flasher where is it located on the Edge and which one did you buy since they have 8 on their website. Thanks, Lee

Thanks for the information, no one mentioned about the stock speakers in the doors if they were plates since that is what mine looks like. I am planning on changing both front and rear door speakers and have a few brands that I am partial too, but as for the factory speakers in the 08 Limited, they are okay, but need some quality at higher volume. Any help again would be appreciated especially if a amp bypass needs to be used and if the amp powers all speakers including subwoofer? Since I do not care about the space in back, I will be making a 38 htz ported and tuned box and using my HK12X2 subs and wired down to 1 ohm since the old school fosgate can run all day at a 1 ohm and barely get warm. I will disconnect the factory sub but have it all there so if I need warranty work I can remove fast. I have been told that aftermarket does not ruin warranty, but I also know Ford and they can blame it on an air freshner attached to the air vent as the problem.

Just bought a 2008 Edge Limited AWD with Panaramic roof and dual DVD headrest unit and pretty much all the bells and whisles on it. My question is that the audiophile system that comes with it sounds lacking, guess I have been spoiled by 5,500 watt system I did have. I was looking at the speakers thru the doors and can see that it looks as though Ford used Plates since my tweeter is seperate then midrange. Does anyone know what size it is in the front and back? I have 5.25 seperates as well as 6.5 seperates that came out of my old system that are brand new and would like to use them. I want to keep the factory head unit, yuck but since I have 7 year 75,000 mile warranty I want to be able to remove fast if a problem. Do you have to run an amp bypass on this unit like with the old explorers? Also is the stock subwoofer RCA output from deck or do I need an RCA converter to run to amp then to sub box? I want to replace door speakers, run one amp just a Fosgate Power 500 that I have sitting around since I don't want to upgrade whole electrical for my competition amps one is a 4000 Hard Core and the other is the 598 all modded by MA Audio, I was sponsored by them. Any help with wire colors or knowledge of hooking up amp to factory deck would be appreciated since I am spoiled with RCA jacks already installed. Also does anyone know if the whole ford system is ran by the one amp or is it used for sub and door speakers are powered by deck.
