  1. I can see your guys point of view, but if either of you have a 2015/16 Edge take a look at this piece, this location seems like it would be near impossible to be hit by something, and even if I did ram my hatch into the garage door it wouldn't hit there. It's my first new car, first warranty, I guess I just expected to be treated a little more like a human being. I understand that dents and scratches and such aren't covered, but this, to me is much different. By denying it, I feel as though they think I did it and are essentially calling me a liar. It's just disappointing. Regardless of whether these will crack a la 2002-2004 Explorer back hatches, or if this is just a fluke, they should stand behind the product. An "I'm sorry sir, here's a loaner, we'll have this fixed up in a couple days" should've been the response as opposed to "Thank you for your $45,000 purchase, now screw you, it'll be another $700." Ultimately I guess I'm just furthering my education about how the world really works. At least the comprehensive deductible is only $250...
  2. So I'm pretty pissed. This piece failed out of the blue about a month after taking delivery. I know it's not something we could've done because it's not in a location to hit a garage door, etc. Even if it was, I haven't slammed my back hatch into anything. I messaged the dealer with pictures the day I noticed it. It's taken 5 weeks to get three replies out of them. Ultimately today they told me that they'd have to replace the whole rear window for $700. The vehicle is under warranty...this is not a scratch, or dent, this is a piece of plastic that cracked and broke. I'm livid, I've never had to pay that much to repair something on a junker much less a brand new car under warranty. Anyone else ever heard of this piece failing? Any suggestions to not be stuck with a ridiculous bill?
  3. So, I ordered a 2016 2.0L AWD Titanium Edge. My Edge was built on 2/1 and just arrived at the dealership today, over a month later, after an initial ETA of 2/5-2/11. I stressed to my dealer that I needed a reason for the delay, and in an email today he told me this: Our Ford rep got back with us about the delay now that we have the vehicle on our lot. About 400 Edge AWD Titnaium 2.0L's were held at Oakville assembly for a transmission rotating clutch hub assembly inspection. The inspection was performed, and everything is per Ford specifications. Anyone heard of this? How concerned should I be, if at all? Thanks!
  4. So it finally shipped. It was built 2/1, shipped 2/29. That's 4 weeks of sitting. Has this happened to anyone on here? Any hypothesis as to what might cause something like that? Thanks.
  5. Meant all of the options...dealer did a search and none were within three states. I ordered Titanium AWD, 2.0L, shadow black, ebony, 302A. Drivers package, cold weather package, trailer tow package.
  6. The only reason I'm doubtful about the quality control issue is that for the past two weeks I've been told "I don't know" or "it's just one of those things" in response to my inquiries about why the shipping is delayed. Only recently was it presented as a possibility (not even confirmed). Seems like all of a sudden they're trying to find something to justify the incompetence...I called them out since they took delivery recently of other Titaniums that were built after mine (none configured quite right unfortunately). Now that they've planted the idea of quality control in my head, I'm thinking that I'll need a reason as to the delay before I take delivery. A car doesn't just sit for 3+ weeks for no reason..lie don't want to be stuck with a lemon... Like I've told them, it's not necessarily the delay that's upsetting, more so the lack of communication and transparency.
  7. Very frustrating, eh? Lots of guys are taking delivery in 8 weeks or less now. Salesman last night tried to theorize that Titaniums were having quality control issues...yeah right.
  8. So...my Edge, ordered on 10/26 was finally built on 2/1. At that time the ETA was 2/5-2/11. Well, here we are on 2/22 and all the dealership can tell me is something along the lines of "I dunno what's happening". I'm starting to get pretty pissed...is that an appropriate reaction at this point? Any tactics I should use to light a fire under their arses? I love in the Detroit area btw...close enough, I was told, that delivery from Oakville should've been lightning quick...
  9. We pretty much use the credit card for all expenses and then pay the balance in full monthly. Two cards total. Always paid in full, never late. No student loans, mortgage, or auto loans. Our bank provides a free credit score, and I'm in the mid 700's, I'd like to be 800+. One of the "dings" against me was a lack of revolving payments...I interpret that as them wishing that I had more accounts, thus my inquiry as to whether a long term (72mo rather than 36mo) loan might be beneficial, and if it matters if the loan is $5000 or $25,000, and whether the credit score guys "punish" paying loans off early and thus not having them. My only other "ding" is duration that the accounts have been established, but I'm young, so I assume it's just because of that.
  10. Slightly off topic, but I haven't been able to find much useful on Google. We could pay cash for our vehicle when it arrives (been saving for quite a while) but feel as though we should get an auto loan for credit score purposes. Given Fords current lack of financing incentives, the rate for 36 months looks a lot better than 72; BUT 72 would double the length of time we have an auto loan, thus making the credit score people happy. So...my question is, does the size of the loan matter? If we paid the car down to $5000 or $10,000 the interest would be negligible, but would a small auto loan not provide the boost we're hoping to get to our credit? Just trying to play the game to our advantage...we're finding out that paying things off early can have negative side effects.
  11. So I've posted so etching similar before, but still find myself confused and perhaps frustrated with my dealer. My order for a 2016 2.0L Titanium AWD was placed on 10/26. I'm seeing A LOT of people who ordered around that time or later who've already taken delivery, or are at the least much further in the process than me (tentative build week of 2/1). I can only imagine two possibilities: one, complete incompetence on the part of my dealer; or two, that I selected options that may have been late availability. I did order all the bells and whistles, 302A, cold weather package, etc. Would the adaptive steering be slowing things down? Or the park assist? Heated steering wheel? The color (black) perhaps? I'm in Metro Detroit, so it's not like I'm that far from Oakville either. Just looking for theories. I'd love to be content with the dealer and know that it's some option that I selected slowing things down, but if they were being lax (I was very specific in telling them that placing an order in October was very purposeful since I wanted it ASAP), I need to rip into them with the highest level of relevant information possible. Thanks for the input.
