I updated my 16 Sport Sync 3 from 1.0 to 2.2 yesterday via flash drive and I worked flawlessly. I also ordered the USB hub from Walt Sweeney and it will be arriving tomorrow along with some plastic pry tools from Amazon. I've watched a few videos and the install doesn't look too bad at all. Originally I thought I could just pry the USB hub itself without touching anything else (hence the pry tools) but that's not the case. Have to remove side panel and get at it from inside & behind. Still looks pretty easy. I'll update on the install with pics when I get the part. 2.2 seems better and I like the few small additions to the UI.

Installed the 2.2 update in my 16 sport and ordered the USB hub which is arriving Wednesday. Software updated flawlessly. Hopefully USB goes just as smooth.

So iPhone has to be plugged in via usb to use app link? Can someone explain how exactly it works? Is It a native version similar to CarPlay? I'm actually pretty excited to use CarPlay on my 16 sport when upgrade is available. But in the meantime would love to try applink. I've been really busy and haven't had any time to read about anything since I've gotten the vehicle. So any quick rundown about applink would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Exactly why i'm paying for tire/wheel coverage on my 16 Sport. Wheels and tires are crazy expensive and I was a little shell shocked after replacing 3 tires on my 13 Escape within a 6 month period WITHOUT wheel/tire coverage. $180 a piece. The extra $7/mo is totally worth it imo.

Don't know why Ford is keeping this update so hush-hush. I was assured that when I got my 16 Edge Sport that I would have CarPlay by summers end. Still hoping that happens! I was also told it will be a $100 software upgrade by my dealership. I take what they say with a grain of salt because sometimes I know more then they do when it comes to things like this. But unfortunately I cannot get any answers about anything when it comes to the upgrade for 2016's. I sometimes wonder if Ford is still trying to figure it all out.
