  1. What makes you think that they are? Question can go both ways. I've been in 3 times and had my wheel swapped 3 times. Along with other folks having problems. Report it to NHTSB to get an escalation started for a Ford recall. Simple.
  2. We really need to push for FORD to issue a RECALL for an actual FIX. The only way this will happen is if people start reporting this issue to the NHTSB. Please if you have not already, submit a Vehicle Complaint here: https://www-odi.nhts...hicleComplaint/ It only takes about 5-10 minutes, please make sure you include details of steering wheel going off center and error codes. Thank you.
  3. After the 2 newer replacement (SECM aka Steering Wheels) from Ford which didn't work, they pulled one out of a new car from the dealer lot. So my fix in the end was to swap the wheel from a new car. So I'm actually still using an old part. Wonderful.
  4. Bingo. My dealer replaced the Steering Wheel... TWICE. 1st one Adaptive Steering wasn't working, 2nd one was Grinding when turning the wheel. FWIW, the steering wheel part number has been discontinued, Ford referred to a new steering wheel part number. (of both didn't work) After escalations with FoMoCo and having my car at the dealer for about 20 days, 3rd pickup. Ford realized that one more trip would meet Michigan Lemon Law. It would be qualified for buyback from the manufacture. In Michigan it is 4 repairs for the same issue or 30 days on in-service. Anyways, I got my car back on Friday and it seems to be fine for now. Only put a couple hundred miles on it since I got it back. How did they fix it? Let's say there is a new Edge Sport in the back new dealer lot that is missing a steering wheel.
  5. It does more than require more effort. It changes the ratio of the steering so you can have the best of both worlds. Relaxed driving and then a sportier steering response. SECM is basically the steering wheel. There is a module behind it that has a ring pinion gear and motor attached. The ratio changes in the steering in BOTH modes according to the speed of the vehicle. This system is never fully OFF.
  6. VERY IMPORTANT to get action on this.... Make sure you report your issue in detail here: https://www-odi.nhts...hicleComplaint/ It only takes about 5-10 minutes.
  7. Sorry to hear.. Nope, not software. It's a steering module harness problem. Make sure you keep a log of dates/times it happens. In most states, after 4 times for the same issue it's considered to be lemon and eligible for buyback. The loaner is all on the dealer. I would push the dealer for one. Mentioning of the service survey works like magic in some situations.
  8. This is VERY IMPORTANT. Report this as a safety issue to the NHTSA. I actually got a reply from someone asking for details. The more they get of these, the faster they will investigate. Only takes 5-10 minutes to complete the safety complaint: https://www-odi.nhts...hicleComplaint/
  9. I wish I would have kept my previous VW... :-( They supposedly replaced the steering wheel twice on mine, and the adaptive steering still isn't right. The part #s of the replacement wheels were different than the original one that came on the car. 3 weeks and still going.... Yes and better be covered under the bumper to bumper warranty I also have 2 kids and have lost all confidence in this car. I refuse to drive my 2 kids in it. I'm driving a loaner from the dealer. Ford Customer Service is the worst that I have ever experienced. They are playing a game. The rep accidentally called my mobile instead of the dealer and they left a message regarding me and my vehicle as if she was leaving a message for them. The things that were said did NOT have the customer's best interest or care in mind. I'll leave it at that. Absolutely horrible service and treatment.
  10. Got the Edge Sport back last night after the dealer replaced the steering wheel and module again for the 2nd time. Went straight back to the dealer today and the steering column sounds like it is grinding something when you rotate the wheel. Not good.
  11. Unfortunately with 2 kids in the back seat I will not be doing that anytime soon. My thoughts will be about gripping the wheel and making sure it does want to turn or change direction unexpectedly. I'm glad that stomping on unsuspecting ricers helps you personally. It will take a bit more than that for me.. especially when I'm driving around with precise cargo that is irreplaceable.
  12. Definitely a safety issue, that is why I reported it here: https://www-odi.nhts...hicleComplaint/ The dealer gave me an update today, they are now trying a 3rd steering wheel and module. Will probably know more tomorrow. Kills me, because I really like the car. But this made me very uneasy.
  13. The Cust. Support Manager of the managers was named "Chris." In the emails they send, "Julianna" is the Cust Supp Manager, but she doesn't work there anymore and she reported to this guy named Chris.
  14. Everyone should report it to NHTSA for investigation! https://www-odi.nhts...hicleComplaint/
  15. I filed a complaint / report with NHTSA board. The more reports there are, the more they will be forced to correct this safety issue! File your complaint here: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/
