  1. I normally lock my Ford Edge when pumping gas to prevent potential theft of any contents while I’m busy filling the tank. Can the passenger door be opened while I am standing right next to the car at the gas pump? https://www.edmunds.com/car-news/technology/how-to-protect-your-car-from-keyless-entry-hacking.html What about hacking the keyless entry as described in the above article? Thanks.
  2. Hello, everyone. I added new playlists to the iPod, deleted others. I plugged it into the USB input. The odd thing is that although some of the playlist titles play back just fine, other playlist titles only briefly show up on the screen--about a second or two per title. If I let the titles continue to change like this without stopping them, they will cycle endlessly from the first track to the last and not a single tune will play. What's going on? The iPod plays every track faultlessly if I connect it to headphones or connect it to iTunes on the Macintosh. Has anyone else seen this kind of strange behavior? Does anyone know how to correct this? Many thanks.
  3. Many tracks on our iPod play exceptionally well without any drama whatsoever, but some tracks just appear one after the other on screen without playing as if I were scrolling for a track. One album had this searching tracks without playing problem until one day, without any reason, it began to play each track as it should. Other album tracks just refuse to play but flash track titles momentarily from one to the next. Has anyone else had this happen? How does one solve it? Or does it solve itself somehow? Mysterious!
  4. On a recent 700+ mile trip, our 08 Edge averaged 27-28 mpg. The heavy snowstorm in metro Detroit really slowed us down, but during most of the trip, we set the speed control to 55 mph. On I-75, I-275, and I-96, we saw some thirty cars stuck in the median, in off ramps, and spun around into the shoulders. All wheel drive and our lower speed helped guide the Edge through some really deep stretches of snow on the road. We really didn't notice any slippage on the ice and snow-covered roads. Of course we didn't tempt fate either. But 27 to 28 mpg was a pleasant surprise. Now I wonder what the gas mileage will be during the warm months?
  5. We have almost 4,000 miles on our 2008 Ford Edge. The Edge joins several favorite cars we have owned down the years: a 1996 Chrysler Cirrus, a 1988 Honda Civic Wagon, a 1984 Dodge Caravan, a 1990 Dodge Caravan, a 2002 Buick Rendezvous. Regardless of whether they were American, Canadian, Mexican, or Japanese made, each one provided good value for transportation and memorable trips around the country. We have never owned a car so well equipped as our Ford Edge. We think it will provide us many years of exceptional service as did our previous favorites.
  6. Hello. We've only had the new '08 Edge Limited AWD for a week and we are very happy with its vapor silver metallic color and 20-inch wheels. We have never owned a car with a navigation system and we like that as well. We had the optional headrest dual DVD system installed as well for the grandkids. The modern design appeals to us, and together with the dark leather interior, the car has a serious stance. It handles very well and the sport suspension does not punish. One minor issue was a malfunctioning wireless headphone and that will be taken care of next week. I think you will enjoy your Edge as well. Regards.
  7. Why did we choose the Edge? We take delivery of our 2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD tomorrow (Monday) morning. We had noticed the Edge in TV ads, in Consumer Reports, in the car mags, but we first tested the Buick Enclave, Honda CR-V and Fit, and gave a good look at the Toyota Prius. These cars were impressive in their own right, yet my wife kept looking at the MKX and the Edge. Our 2003 Buick Rendezvous was drawing fast toward 100,000 miles in less than five years. I think we could have gone to 150,000 miles, but we're both retired and wanted a new car. We drove a 1972 Dodge Dart some 130,000, two Dodge Caravans to well over 125,000, and a Chevrolet Citation to over 100,000 (liked the concept, detested the car). We enjoyed a nice 1988 Honda Civic Wagon as well. We bought a new 1968 Mercury Cougar, but, although the styling was quite attractive, the poorly engineered seat backs really soured us (a single support with all the weight of the back concentrated at that one point--ridiculous engineering!). We are pleased today to return to Ford to buy the very well designed Edge. We think it will serve us well for quite a long time. The moonroof is magnificent and the 20-inch wheels with the vapor silver metallic color give the car an imposing and serious stance. Our grandkids will really enjoy the headrest DVD entertainment centers. We would have preferred a backup camera, but we may have it installed after the warranty has expired, if we still think it's needed. We were getting 23 mpg highway mileage in our similar sized Buick Rendezvous with its four-speed transmission and 3.4 engine. The six-speed with Ford's far more sophisticated 3.5 should allow us to get even better mileage. There have been a few complaints from others in these forums about the premium sound system. They are probably valid, but for almost all males past puberty, high frequency notes beyond 12,000-14,000 Hz grow increasingly difficult to discern. Besides, we prefer our home audio system to that of any car. We will see if the Edge woofer offers sufficient bass. After 42 years of marriage, I trust my wife's taste in cars. I agree with her that this Ford Edge is one of Ford's best.
  8. We first test drove the Flex and liked it, but as empty-nesters with two-four grandchildren as occasional passengers, we felt it was too much car for our everyday use. We tested the Edge and liked it so much that we ordered it with 20-inch wheels, moonroof, and nav system. The dealer found what we wanted here in Michigan and tomorrow we will pick it up. Our son brought our attention to the Flex several weeks ago. He is a former Explorer owner and sees the Flex as a possibility for him and his family.
  9. Hello, everyone. Tomorrow morning (Wednesday, 20 August) we will be the new owners of a 2008 Ford Edge Limited AWD after some six years of driving a Buick Rendezvous. With the Buick we were seeing 23-24 mpg highway mileage with a 3.4 liter engine. We expect to do at least as well or better in the Edge.
