I purchased the unit off Ebay you also need the amp, as long as the unit comes out of a Ford unless you want the Lincoln or Mercury flashscreen to show when the radio starts up. Model # doesn't matter, yes the wiring harnesses are the same for the 2008 thru 2010 models as long as both have factory navigation the unit plugs right in. I reprogrammed the unit myself both sync and steering wheel functions all work and I even installed a backup camera as seen in pictures. I first checked with our local Ford dealer and they told me it was not posible to do but it is posible if you know how to do it. You have to program the unit when it is installed in the vehicle.

I tried this without any luck. I removed the 4 screws easily enough but the plastic cover wouldn't pull off. How hard do you have to pull after removing the four screws? I don't want to just keep pulling until something breaks.
It should pull right off. I've had mine off a few times without any problems.

I want to install a rear view camera on my 2008 Edge.
What I need help with is how to remove the trim panels on the liftgate.
Any directions or diagrams would be greatly appreciated.
Bruce
Remove the four screws for the handles on the bottom panel. Then just pull the panel towards you starting at one corner it will pull right off.

Yes, I am assuming you had to run wires and there were not factory rear camera wires there.
Yes I had to remove the rear hatch interior panel and ran the wires on the passenger side. I just removed the door weatherstrip along the top and pushed the wires into the headliner. I also removed the passenger side front pillar moulding and ran the wires to the radio. I purchased the camera harness for the Lockpick which plugs iinto the radio unit.

Nice, where did you run the camera wires? Thank you.
Are you refering to the camera wires themselves

er65nsunny, How is the Ford Lockpick working for you?
So far it seems to be working great. The vehicle health report wasn't working and I could not figure out why until I checked the Lockpick website and saw they had an update which fixed the problem.

There is a Ford rear view camera listed on Ebay # 130478016599 That says it has the sync mic on top for $150.

I have a 2010 limited the 2011 have backup camera, is it the same Navigation as the 2010, and they added the camera? Or is there a system with color that will work with my OEM Nav? Thanks. Chris

Apologies in advance if this is unrelated- but any chance that from here you can change the lighting on the gauges??
I seriously detest the green lighting! It looks so dated to me and completely clashes with the otherwise nice looking interior.
My '03 Escape had green instrument lighting as well which I also hated, so I was really disappointed to realize come night time that my new Edge has it too!
I don't understand the logic behind this- my dad has an '08 Mustang and it allows for the instrument lighting colors to be changed to any color as a part of the ambient lighting controls, but that's not the case with the ambient lighting feature on the Edge for some reason??
You could but you would have to change all the leds if you know how to solder, I believe someone on the fusion forum did it to their Ford Fusion.

It's located at the back of the console below the hinge, they did not prewire for the lighting
You wouldn't be able to take a picture of it would you. I would apreciate it.

I think his is till for sale btw- in case you are just looking for parts, rather than DIY work.
Jeff
Thats for the cup holders, the wiring diagram shows one under the console lid. I was just wondering where it was located.

I was wondering where the leds are located under the console lid on a 2009 - 2010 Edge with the factory ambient lighting. I looked at the wiring diagrams and it shows the wiring under the lid on the left side. I was wondering if anyone has a picture showing where the led is located. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Sorry,I should specified a non-nav unit.
This is how for a non nav unit. PRESS AUX TO ACCESS SATELLITE RADIO Retrieve 12-digit ESN: In satellite radio mode, press AUX and preset “1”
simultaneously.

For those of you with a 2007, remember that the liftgate design is different. There is a liftgate release button directly under the trim piece where the emblem camera goes; this gets in the way of the camera body. To make this fit, the trunk release will have to be removed and relocated (new button added). Just a heads up.
er65nsunny what year is you Edge? Seems like a 2008 or newer with the newer liftgate handle design.
Thanks.
I have a 2008, The release button is located in the recesed portion below the license plate. the 2007s might be able to relocate to that area.

On the nav unit there is an / button for information press it and then select system info. There will be the information for the sirius ID number.
-
Yes the 2009-2010 nav units play DVDs, the 2008 units do not.
-
my wife has 2008 is it possible to add nav unit to car that did not come with it? is all the wiring built in to the car? anything extra to purchase besides the nav unit? thanks in advance
You would have to remove the radio to see if there are three wiring harness behind it, The none nav unit radios only use two harnesses, but the other one may be there. If the harness is not their you would not be able to install a factory nav unit in the vehicle.

Remove the center finish panel that surronds the radio then remove the lower panel under the steering column, then remove the two bolts for the cluster. . There is a rubber piece between the upper steering column and the cluster that snaps into the cluster housing just pull up on it to release it. The cluster then can be pulled out which allows you to disconnect the rear liftgate connector if you have the power lifgate option. After the cluster comes out remove the wire harness for the cluster. It's pretty easy once you figure it out. It took me awhile since I didn't realize the rubber piece was there.

The gauges are part of the cluster, It's just the face that is replaced.

I was wondering if you might have the usb and audio input from the console, and the panel that has the power plug from the lower instrument panel that meets the console in black.

You should be able to purchase it from a local Ford dealer. I did a search for the number that was on the harness but it doesn't come up, Ford must have a different number that they go by.
