  1. I purchased the unit off Ebay you also need the amp, as long as the unit comes out of a Ford unless you want the Lincoln or Mercury flashscreen to show when the radio starts up. Model # doesn't matter, yes the wiring harnesses are the same for the 2008 thru 2010 models as long as both have factory navigation the unit plugs right in. I reprogrammed the unit myself both sync and steering wheel functions all work and I even installed a backup camera as seen in pictures. I first checked with our local Ford dealer and they told me it was not posible to do but it is posible if you know how to do it. You have to program the unit when it is installed in the vehicle.

  2. Yes, I am assuming you had to run wires and there were not factory rear camera wires there.

Yes I had to remove the rear hatch interior panel and ran the wires on the passenger side. I just removed the door weatherstrip along the top and pushed the wires into the headliner. I also removed the passenger side front pillar moulding and ran the wires to the radio. I purchased the camera harness for the Lockpick which plugs iinto the radio unit.

  4. I have a 2010 limited the 2011 have backup camera, is it the same Navigation as the 2010, and they added the camera? Or is there a system with color that will work with my OEM Nav? Thanks. Chris :shift:

I added this to our 2008 Edge follow the link and look fo er65nsunny http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/2710-2009-factory-sony-nav-system/

and this link for the camera http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/2768-backup-camera-install-into-factory-nav-unit/page__st__20

  5. Apologies in advance if this is unrelated- but any chance that from here you can change the lighting on the gauges??

I seriously detest the green lighting! It looks so dated to me and completely clashes with the otherwise nice looking interior.

My '03 Escape had green instrument lighting as well which I also hated, so I was really disappointed to realize come night time that my new Edge has it too!

I don't understand the logic behind this- my dad has an '08 Mustang and it allows for the instrument lighting colors to be changed to any color as a part of the ambient lighting controls, but that's not the case with the ambient lighting feature on the Edge for some reason??

You could but you would have to change all the leds if you know how to solder, I believe someone on the fusion forum did it to their Ford Fusion.

  6. For those of you with a 2007, remember that the liftgate design is different. There is a liftgate release button directly under the trim piece where the emblem camera goes; this gets in the way of the camera body. To make this fit, the trunk release will have to be removed and relocated (new button added). Just a heads up.

er65nsunny what year is you Edge? Seems like a 2008 or newer with the newer liftgate handle design.

    Thanks.

I have a 2008, The release button is located in the recesed portion below the license plate. the 2007s might be able to relocate to that area.

  7. my wife has 2008 is it possible to add nav unit to car that did not come with it? is all the wiring built in to the car? anything extra to purchase besides the nav unit? thanks in advance

You would have to remove the radio to see if there are three wiring harness behind it, The none nav unit radios only use two harnesses, but the other one may be there. If the harness is not their you would not be able to install a factory nav unit in the vehicle.

  8. Remove the center finish panel that surronds the radio then remove the lower panel under the steering column, then remove the two bolts for the cluster. . There is a rubber piece between the upper steering column and the cluster that snaps into the cluster housing just pull up on it to release it. The cluster then can be pulled out which allows you to disconnect the rear liftgate connector if you have the power lifgate option. After the cluster comes out remove the wire harness for the cluster. It's pretty easy once you figure it out. It took me awhile since I didn't realize the rubber piece was there.
