Do you hae a part number for the seal they replaced?

I asked them for the part number for the seal. My number was 8T4Z-7275A. They still have my car at the dealer. when they test drove it, found it still leaked, then ordered the whole PTU Unit..........Should be in Monday or Tuesday next week......

Close to the part number they just installed in mine and then took for a test drive and still leaks. At least they took it for a drive to check it before they called me to pick it up.

Just got a call from the dealership. Unit is ordered and should be in Monday or Tuesday. They willl take care of a vehicle for me if need be...I feel alittle better now....Hard to not have a vehicle with 2 kids to cart around!!!

Thank you so much for the suggestions! One problem is that I did not buy the car from where it is now. My dealership is 2 1/2 hours away and if I had known that the problem would have extended beyond the seal , then I probably would have brought it back to where we purchased it. The service manager did say he would see what he could do and call me back. I am just frustrated (like everyone else) that this went from a 4-5 hour job to an almost 2 week job. They did say they do not recommend that I drive it. Not sure if when they chnaged the seak , if the leak became worse.....I will definetly check with them though and if it is not dis-assembled, then I will double check to see if it can be driven until the whole unit comes in. Well they changed the seal , took it for a drive and yup, its still leaking. They now have ordered a whole new PTU unit insead of just the seal. Willl be at least 2 weeks now! Now I have an issue about transportation. Without a vehicle as of Monday and they state that unless I purchased the Extended Warrenty it does not cover rentals....Would think Ford would p/u the rental cost whereas this is an ongoing problem with them...Any input would be appreciated .... Anyone else know if FOrd will pick up the rental cost?

Just dropped of the Edge. They will have it for a day. Part number they gave me was 8t427275-A. Time will tell!

My 2008 Edge will be at the dealer tomorrow getting the seal changed. Only has 2600 miles on it.....We will see if the "New" seal will resolve the problem....

Brought my Edge in this am and it is fact the PTU that is leaking. My dealer has ordered the new seal kit to replace it. He stated that replacing the whole PTU unit will not fix the problem, because they still come with the old seal. He has already done 1 other edge with the new seal and it hasnt been back yet. Time will tell. When part comes in I will find out for sure!!!

My 2008 Edge LMTD will be at the dealer tomorrow to diagonis the bruning smell problem.In speaking with them this morning, I guess they are well aware of the problwm, (they have already done one Edge) They are stating that it will require a new seal.I hope thats all it is ..Only have 2500 miles on it. Like others once the car is warmed up I get a burning smell, almost like plastic burning. Only when it is very cold out though. Will find out tomorrow I guess.....

I just put a tune in my Edge from Evolution Performance. It is the SCT Xcal and has 3 tunes in it. Pretty easy to install . It is a "plug and play" Presently I have the 93 performance tune and it does make a difference in power! If interested call Evolution Performance and ask for Fred. tell him Badgirl sent ya! I just got my 08 Edge Lmted yesterday and so far love it! Have a question. Does anyone know where I can get a seat cover for the back seat? I would like to purchase one so my kids won't kill the leather in them. It is a daily driver and kids will be kids, but I would like it to stay nice for awhile! :happy feet: :happy feet:

Sounds like we have the same or extremely similiar Edge! Just picked up mine yesterday after researching this vehicle for 8 months and I love it. Still have alot to learn with all the features but have plenty of time! I have the Vapor Silver with camel leather , vista roof, nav system. So far so good!!!!
