  1. Aye.... ~120,000km in our hands (141k km total) and its only cost us tyres and two batteries (they don't last well here)... albeit 4-off 22" Pirelli Scorpions! No other issues so just got to bend over sometimes.... bill was 2330 AED including the diagnostic, would've been about 2900 without service contract discount. Cheap in comparison to the timing belt service every 60-80k miles on my Pajero..... Tyres for it at least are half the price....
  2. Diagnostic report done.... fan fault P0480 6C - failed to initialise in previous key cycles. New fan unit unless you strip the thing to bits yourself.... car front bumper to low to get under without a ramp.... take my credit card please. Thanks for your help guys..... was still cheaper to do diagnostic with the service contract discount than replace without, so worth a roll of the dice.
  3. http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=dejfiSz9YzVtSINZIu6eqw%3d%3d&id=430440793&m=2&search=true&year=2013&make=Ford&model=Edge FYI - just lists it as a high ambient temperature kit vs lower/average ambient temps. Whole unit, no parts break out.... if you want it fixed you'll need to get your hands dirty.
  4. Thanks guys.... most helpful. 2500 AED is approximate.... that was including fitting at Ford and pre-discount, it was a little less but for easy counting. Interested in what CGG spec actually means in that regard.... the workshop manual I looked at had a separate section under drivetrain engine & emissions management which I couldn't open from the dealers tablet. Will have a look at the parts list for info.
  5. Thanks guys.... so to confirm; the passenger side fan will only come on when it gets too hot (like all cars before boiling point) and the other one runs the whole time the AC is on? It was the passenger side fan that they said was not working, or latterly working intermittently.... wasn't convinced at all and annoyed that I left work to go see them and they kept me hanging about for 1.5hrs, then couldn't give a decent answer one way other other. Its gone for diagnostic to see if any fault codes have been logged, because the weekend is Friday Saturday here, will find out more tomorrow.... either way going to take it away and test it myself. Sooner do that and check connector, blow out and grease the fan before shelling out the equivalent of £500 for a new unit.... will need that to pay for the tyres on the thing! Do Ford or anyone else do a good online parts fiche so I can check the breakout of the parts and serviceable items? There's a whole cluster of places which sell OE spares for various manufacturers in the industrial areas near all the garages in Mussafah, got to be worth a punt for connectors/leads if one is broken.
  6. Hi folks, got a query about the cooling fans after having an unsatisfactory experience at the local Ford garage.... they wanted to charge me 2500 AED (3.67-$/5-£) for a whole new fan unit, based on visual inspection that one of the fans was not working... details are follows: Should both fans work at the same time? - Erm don't know Is it a two stage system (second one kicks in when car gets two hot or one spools up) - Erm don't know What diagnostics did you do - none Why - from experience we just change, its a safety concern Did you do a diagnostic test - no Why not - not normally required Why should I give you a large sum of money on this basis - erm.... You get the gist.... if its broken, no issues as its very hot here and my wife is too precious to kill for a few hundred quid.... however I work in power plant maintenance, so no convinced its as broken as they say. Asked them to do a full diagnostic examination and report back before I decide anything. What I want to establish: What is the logic? Both run and one speeds up? Or one kicks in at a different point? What is the likelihood that the second fan simply has a broken connection / wire? What is the likelihood that one of the fans is choked with dust/dirt/sand? (live in the UAE, do a lot of miles) Are these units serviceable individually or is there a simpler fix? Do we need to bend over and buy a whole unit? Advice / experience / guidance welcome.... please let me know about the above. Cheers.
  7. That'a Scottish for hello, howe are you on this fine day.... :D Hi folks, my name is Jamie and I'm from Scotland, living in the UAE... also exist on many other forums under the same username, I own a CBR600 and some KTMs, a Gas Gas and into offroad/track riding..... if you are on any of those forums we may have crossed paths, otheriwise welcome! Got a 2013 Ford Edge Sport 3.7L GCC spec car, cracking big motor, never had any issues so not registered.... its run so well not needed to. Came out of Ford garage today after a disagreement about cooling fans and whether it should be a whole module at 2500 dibs or a clean and grease / check connections.... separate post to follow. Cheers guys.
