  1. I've got a TPMS system fault showing on my 2013 Ford Edge Sport, its been sat for a while and this could be part of it... but the car is at an age where the sensors will go south due to old age. I am getting fault B124D:02 indicating 1-3 sensors are failing, however the service manual and Pinpoint Test G says it could also be the TPMS module itself under this code. Waiting on a TPMS wake/teaching tool coming, believe it can also be done with letting air out, I also understand that Forscan isnt as precise as the ford scanning tool for this but there are workarounds. I have tried pulling the tags on the oscilloscope and dashboard functions to help with pinpointing the issue, I am not seeing any sensors at all however. I have also tried changing the fuse (fuse blades were oxidised) and driving for 20mins, no joy. The screen grabs below are from my testing, leaning towards the TPMS module itself but wanted to check with the community to be sure I was on the right track. Please see below screen grabs, appreciate your feedback. https://imgur.com/a/dcfWtPb
  2. Happy ending for this one, Cardone pump fixed the issue. Working a treat. Car tested and back on the road.
  3. Update: took the panel off to get into the window to jam it up and the window motor off to check the drive. The wire was poking out when I took the motor off and was all jammed up and tangled in the drive carrier. Nothing appears broken but need to run, will look again later. Anyone else had this?
  4. TPMS faults - random failures or age related (battery)? Car is 2013 model, tried resetting it in Forscan, no joy. Will have another look at how to pinpoint but if you any experience of replacement of TPMS/battery, please let me know. Thank you.
  5. As above really… rear window just rolled down and now won’t come up, just making a noise. Any clues? Car is 2013 model, assume broken plastic part somewhere… but not very good at all when about to leave for the airport. ?
  6. The pump for my car which is a 2013 registered 2012 build is superseded by the corresponding banjo type hose updated pump, so bought one of the Cardone ones. https://www.cardone.com/product/power-steering-pump-21-4062 Will be here in a week, will get it in and hopefully that will get it back on the road again. Will keep the old one in vane hope of being able to rebuild it properly and keep it as a spare. ?? Ordered a bleeder cap and a new Mityvac kit, other one falling to bits.
  7. Anyone rebuilt theirs and got pics from the strip down? Not a happy ending for this one… found the Kotek kit, didn’t pay enough attention during disassembly and had the pump in once, didn’t work… had it out, watched a good series of videos, put it back in, still not working. ? Definitely had put the blades in the wrong way round in the pump… didn’t take enough care and attention with it, no clear baseline. Second time I flipped the spring valve round convinced I’d put it in wrong last time. Thinking valve down and spring up, it would lift if there was excess pressure and recycle to the inlet side… now I’m wondering if that was wrong too. Pretty bummed… had everything lined up, went to site for a few months and now wasted a weekend and a half rebuilding and stripping again. ? On the plus side, new ball joints in, new brake pads and two fully rebuilt driveshafts, also a new shaft seal on the drivers side. Just no power steering. FML. Away to look at pumps now…. ???
  8. Happy ending for this one… just a messy and dirty job. The OE fold over clamps are a pain to fit, apart from that it’s just messy.
  9. Thanks for putting me onto that kit emigma-2, ordered it plus the other parts I need (pressure hose, CV boot kit and hub nut) as new old stock. 715 AED plus what it takes to shop and ship. 140 AED for two litres of Merkon V. Target for the repairs are not to exceed 6,500 AED quoted by ford... robbing beggars. Will keep you posted... got axle stands and a trolley jack already, just ordered a dead blow hammer to help get the shaft off in case the others I have dont work... always handy to have.
  10. Didn’t realise the axle nuts were single use… just assumed it was Ford UAE refusing to reuse anything…?
  11. Thanks! This happened to me today. Is there anything that can trigger it? Apart from component issues?
  12. As above - anyone recommend anyone with good range/stock for Fords? I'm in the UAE and from the UK, so not up to speed on where to get good independent or new old stock parts from the US. Looking to send here via Aramex Shop & Ship.
  13. What were the symptoms before you did that?
  14. Anyone done it and can recommend a repair kit? There's hundreds of them out there but want to avoid cheap nasty kits, looking for OE quality or equivalent. Part of the same recent trip to the dealer and another independent place as the power steering pump thread... neither offering to change the split boot, only the full driveshaft. Ford denying that repair kit TS213 even exists... at $100 MRSP for the OEM repair kit plus $20 for a new snap ring, vs $180 for a full new driveshaft, its almost a no brainer as its a messy job. Not done one in about 20yrs and not looking forward to it, don't miss lying under cars at all... but now running a third car (6.2 L supercharged Raptor which guzzles fuel like its going out of fashion) and got a new bike incoming (2023 KTM 300SX) so don't mind getting my hands dirty to save a few bucks. Full new shaft is ~660 AED plus shipping, shipping must be really expensive as both Ford and the independent place want ~1850 AED for the new shaft... Ford also want to replace the hub nut and PTU oil seal (which they did about 40k ago when they changed the PTU seals)... the difference in price will give an indication of why I'm grudging this one also. I'm in the wrong game. ? Feedback, guidance, experience welcome. ?
  15. Firstly, apologies as I am not on here much... more often on the UK KTM forum ☺️ and more recently on the Ford Raptor Forum ? but at 281k km the Edge Sport is still going strong apart from old age related issues an Tourette's inducing trips to the local dealer... Car has clearly been leaking power steering fluid for a long time, after topping up from half full the noise on full lock has gone... I'm amazed that its taken Ford that long to spot it as they don't miss much or an opportunity to recommend to replace everything end to end. They say its leaking from the pressure hose but also from the pump and due to the age of the car, I should replace both. Took it to an independent place who want to do and charge the same amount as Ford themselves, which is a no from me also. If I'm paying through the nose I'll take it to the dealer as its 5mins walk from work. Hose leakage is common I believe due to the ends perishing, replace or find a local place that does hydraulic hoses to refurb/re-make (was quoted 35d for parts) is my preferred option. Pump leakage is also not uncommon I believe, it is not leaking from the shaft seal that I can see though. I have had a look at pictures of the pump and its of flanged construction, assume the gasket/seal has perished. Are there any kits out there (like Gates) for refurbishing these? Are pattern items worth bothering with? (my experience with these is >15yrs old... a lot has moved on from there). If its just perished seals on the flange, I would really grudge buying a new pump. Had a look online but couldn't see a kit for this pump though (will keep looking though). Another 35d lead time and a salty $300 for a new pump... with further mark-up from the local dealer/garages. I have access to our sister business which refurbishes industrial pumps, I may strip it and take it there or may strip it myself and rebuild it wish new seals. There's plenty of options locally for buying seals, etc from the oilfield industry suppliers. Feedback, advice and experience welcome.
  16. I've been all the way through this... brake booster recall (small tear in the diaphragm) HPU replacement (advised by main dealer) Master Cylinder replacement (done same time as the HPU - on dealer list)... braking system felt better for a refresh (car was IRO 240k km) but none of them fixed the intermittent issue... after a test drive I requested the dealer to replace the vacuum hose (at my instruction and cost) as it was the only item pending that hadn't been changed... and they point blank refused. Fixed the issue myself with a $30 OEM replacement hose and took it in to the garage and dropped in on the service advisor's desk and left after a brief discussion. My car was revving up intermittently also, which is indicative of a vacuum leak / air ingress. Hope that helps. Keep us posted.
  17. Tried all that and removing and re-pairing the phone... limited effect. Quite odd.
  18. As above... driving the mrs car and she has been complaing for some time about the volume being low whilst using the hands free... I took it for tyres today and it is indeed. Made a call and could barely hear anything, had to go onto speaker on my mobile. Hasn’t always been bad and wondering it it was a setting lost when the keys were recoded. Anyone else had this / cured this? Car is 2013 Edge Sport with SYNC system GCC spec (reg card says COO: Canada), iPhone X using lates iOS. Thanks folks.
  19. Worried about this one long term.... drivers side (LHD) boot showing some signs of weeping, boot starting to perish. According to the ford dealer the oil seals wear inside the rack and it starts to leak, its also non-serviceable, new rack required, 4000 AED + labour at about 300 AED++/hr. Common issue? Anyone got any experience / fixes / tales of woe?
  20. Is this common? Any way to diagnose it over and above normal engine rolling when revved? 250 AED part and about 12-1500 AED in labour charges... declined for time being. Mount was the drivers side (LHD)front mount. Car is Ford Edge Sport 3.7L, 200,000km service just done.
  21. I also have this issue.... just changed the belt, tensioner didn't appear to be causing any issues when in the workshop and they couldn't effectively demonstrate it, so I declined the replacement as it was 4x more expensive than the labour for the belt change, seemed too much. New belt, first drive from cold it slipped a couple of times briefly, then all ok afterwards. Nothing like before. 2013 Edge Sport 3.7L 200k service just done.

    200k Service Woes

A brief update: Replace rear pads and skim all four discs - Deferred Drive belt - also want to replace the tensioner as “when the car is accelerating, its getting vibrating and losing tension” - really, how very interesting... please tell me more - tensioner really required? Wear limit on it? - V-belt replaced but first drive still squeaking briefly once or twice Transmissions mount - worn - OK for mileage but labour is about 5x price of the mount. - Couldn't demonstrate - deferred Transmission cooler hose is leaking - need to replace the whole unit - No fix unfortunately 1600 AED lighter Item 2: Are the tensioners a known point of failure on these cars? Is this slipping when cold indicative of a worn tensioner? I looked this up and couldn't find anything conclusive, a few stories of people who had replaced belts and tensioners and it still made the same noise from cold. Item 3: When revving the car from tickover to low RPM you can feel it shake at your feet - how much of this is normal rocking of the engine? Any telltale signs (thump/clunk)?

    200k Service Woes

Need some advice and a lie down... car went in for its 200k service, they were asked to investigate a slipping fan belt, also revved it in the workshop and it went clunk, so they were investigating a worn mount somewhere as well... total list: Replace rear pads and skim all four discs - 4.2mm vs 3mm wear limit - Not yet thanks - only another 10k till next service Drive belt - also want to replace the tensioner as “when the car is accelerating, its getting vibrating and losing tension” - really, how very interesting... please tell me more - tensioner really required? Wear limit on it? Transmissions mount - worn - OK for mileage but labour is about 5x price of the mount. - Seriously? Transmission cooler hose is leaking - need to replace the whole unit - really? - Google tells me this is a common issue and another only one piece part stich up - any alternative fixes? A few other bits and bobs.... Bill looks like over 10k AED on top of the service itself.... Defer Justify - demonstrate belt tension as-is and wear limits Justify - show and justify labour Justify - show and justify why cannot be repaired Not holding out much hope for anything other than a good old butt poking tomorrow... wife uses it to travel 200km round daily so not one to bodge. Any thoughts / experience from you guys? Off for a beer.... :(
  24. Cheers.... look forward to the next instalment then. :/
  25. As above... looks like its not uncommon either. We have also had it its no lines, upside down and intermittently not working... then stopped and came up up with the contact your dealer error. Meant to post sooner.... but it went in for its service today and had the camera replaced.... 1200 dibs lighter. Mrs didn't take diagnostic as she needed the car for tomorrow for her first day at her new job. Does the camera replacement fix the issues? Like the fan I was sceptical about it.... thought it may be as simple as a broken wire in the tailgate loom. Is this the end and another one of the Edge's faubales? Suspiciously second thing to be replaced since I took a service contract.... either dodgy or good timing as you get discount on parts.
