  1. I've paid extra for the cargo covers on a couple of vehicles just to have them sitting in the garage all the time. They were always getting in the way when trying to utilize the back area. Limited to what I could put under the cover. Just my $.02 with.
  2. I purchased Dorman elements but they were of the "universal" variety, not the Ford. They fit the same and had a little bigger heating area. They work just great. Purchased for $49.47, includes tax, for a pair from CarID.com. Now I've an extra, just in case.
  3. Went out to replace the heating element and after looking at the seat, I raised it to its highest position. I could see that there were 4 10mm bolts at each corner of the seat pan. Removed them and lifted the seat upwards to get at the wiring disconnects. Took about 20 minutes to remove the seat bottom. I did not have to take the entire seat out. I did unhook the battery, just as a precaution. Once the seat was out and on the bench the "shin" was removed. The creases of the seat held "velcro" tape that was glued to the foam . Carefully separate the "velcro". On the front seat crease there is a rod that clips into fasteners that are in the foam. These were a little tricky to undo, using a small screwdriver I opened the clips to free the rod holding the skin. Once the shin was removed I carefully removed the heating element without damaging the foam. Installed the new heating element, put the shin back on and mounted the seat to the pan. Mounted the seat to the seat frame after reconnecting the the wires, bolted the pan back on, reconnected the battery and wallah... everything worked as it should. Overall job took me right to the 2 hour mark.
  4. UPS delivered the heating elements this afternoon. Tomorrow is the day to do "battle" with the drivers seat. I'll take some pictures and post them.
  5. Yeah, I figure it will be a day job once I have everything. Thanks for the reply.
  6. New to this forum. I've completed a search on heated seats and I have not found anything that addresses my questions. When I try to turn on the drivers heated seat, there are 2 red leds that blink on the push button then go out. On the passenger seat they stay on while the seat is heating. In my research I've found that it might be a faulty connection, under the seat, where one pin goes bad. I'll check for that. However, I'm leaning to the fact that the heating element may be bad. I've found replacement heating elements for around $25.00. My questions are: 1) has anyone tried to replace their heating element ? If so do they have a procedure for removing the seat "skin"? 2) has anyone experienced a connection problem ? What was the fix?
