  1. Can someone tell me what this message means (pic attached). I have connected to WiFi from my driveway, and clicked the update software link. It spins for a while but nothing usually happens. However every time I start my car away from home I get this pop up that doesn’t go away without a click. Will it always pop up if I am not in range of my home WiFi? I don’t understand how to enable it to check through the FordPass app.

Its not simply the roll when placed into park. Its a 2nd roll once the engine is shut off. You can feel the car roll once you let off the brake after placing it in park. It will settle on the parking pawl. Then shut off the engine to get out and as soon as you turn off the engine the car rolls again.

Yes, this... It is a second roll.

  3. Does this happen with anyone? I put the car in Park, I take my foot off the brake, it rolls slightly, as expected (when not using the Parking Brake). however when I then turn the car off, it rolls slightly more. What is that extra roll? That shouldn't happen right since I already let it settle into Park?

I just flip the phone upside down and leave it in the phone slot when connected to apple car play. I stuff an extra coil of cable in with it to keep it from slapping back and forth as I drive.  My napkin space is in the glove box or the center dash compartment at the top. as my co-pilot is responsible for any mess cleanup on trips. My 2011 didn't have either space so both are a luxury for me.

That's what I've been doing but while driving at night, with that compartment open, the light is very bright and the only way to turn it off is shut the door, which I can't do with the wire stinking out.

I had some napkins up in that top compartment above the screen. Noticed that it got very hot in there. Not sure if its residual from the heating system since its been on, or heat from the screen. Either way, also bad industrial design. Wonder how hot it would get up there in the summer.

  6. I'm thinking of cutting a little slot in the side so I can run the cable (it's a lease, will just deal with the consequences). Also the charging pad is in a terrible spot. Like that's a perfect compartment for napkins and other things, but now I can't fill it up if I want to use the wireless charging.

I get that the intent is to hide the phone to prevent useage while driving.

  7. Wondering if this is an oversight or just poor design. In the front compartment with the wireless charging, I have my charging cable (also for Carplay). But most of the time, I want the phone out of that compartment and waant to be able to close the door because the light at night in it is very bright. However, the door does not close with the charging cable sticking out. In my old Explorer, the front compartment had a little slot that when closed, the cable would still slide freely.

    Am I missing something?

Very hot. Although the temp seems to vary around the steering wheel. I'll move my hands to the bottom if the top is too cold.

Used FORScan to auto-timeout after 10min (so every start-up, wheel is heating for 10 min, then off). The max. temp can be adjusted with FORScan too.

Do you have information about the changes you made in FORScan to do this? I just took delivery of an ST on Wednesday. been remote starting the car because of the cold this week. I noticed that after 10 minutes of driving the top of the wheel is so hot its almost untouchable.

For my heated seat. I feel like with remote start and turning the engine on, the lights are on but it takes FOREVER to heat up. If I cycle through the heated seat options, it appears to heat much more quickly.

  9. Super excited to be taking delivery of my Edge ST on Wednesday AM, replacing my 2016 Explorer Platinum.

QUICK QUESTION: I noticed when test drove it this weekend that the Sync screen showed the Steering Wheel heat button on the home screen, not deep in the menus. Does this mean it has the latest software or dealer update? Does that mean it also has the engine sound dialed down?

I was planning to use FORSCAN to enable that and reduce the engine noise, but would be great if I didn't have to.

well yeah, before you get in, you observe your surroundings, verify that likely hood of anyone coming is slim and then proceed to back out. It sucks, but it's not hard. Yes a camera makes it easier. Though that shouldn't be a deal breaker in a purchase imo

agree, not a dealbreaker... but odd that Ford goes all out on marketing the new front 180 degree camera, again, when my 2016 explorer had both a front and rear 180 camera 3 years ago.

Yes it does. But then you'll have to look at the side view mirrors or the instrument cluster to know which side the vehicle is coming from and wait to see if it is a true  warning. The rear cross traffic alert is not really that reliable, had it on the MKX & now on the Edge and could never trust it. They should have at least added indicators on the rear camera view so you'll know whci side the alert is from.

EXACTLY!!!! I feel much safer backing out with my 16 Explorer than with a 19 Edge...

Cross traffic alert doesn't catch non-vehicle issues as well. People. Shopping carts, kids on bikes...

The Edge has a regular (single View) rear camera. Even the 2019. Unfortunately the split view (180 degree) camera is not yet available for the rear. it is for the front only when equipped with a front camera.

Why do you suppose they made that specific design decision? Certainly the tech is there. My '16 Explorer has a split view in the rear AND the front. It is fantastic for backing out of spaces... And is not less effective on a smaller car.

This is the option on the ST, it also should be available on the Titanium and maybe the SEL.  Front 180-Degree Camera with Split View and Washer. I know there is a front grill camera on the 401A package but not on the 400A which I have, I do have a camera mounted in front of the rear view mirror but that is for the auto high beam, lane assist, and braking assist I think.  Googling the camera gets you to this page https://newatlas.com/ford-split-view-camera-see-around-corners/38182/

Now you have me wondering if the rear view does the tri pane view.

That article references "backing out" but I am pretty sure the Edge does not have the split view in reverse.

my bad, I stopped two pages up where it talks about the front due to the game being one, usually click next to see all results on pdfs....ooppps

That's correct, the rear on my Explorer has 180 degree camera. I find it incredibly useful for backing out of spots, driveways, etc, actually more useful than a 180 degree front camera, mostly because it turns itself on automatically and it was just a quick hard button click away from making it 180 degree mode. The front camera never really helped me see any better than I already could out the windows

Ford hasn't offered any other color for the Sport since at least 2015. Same thing with the Fusion Sport & Explorer Sport. Seems like it is Ford's "Sport" theme and if you want the stronger/bigger engine with the nicer interior, go for a Lincoln.

I was considering the Nautilus...How does that compare to the ST?
