Does the standard powertrain warranty cover the PTU on the all wheel drive Edge? I have 20k miles on my 08 limited? I have no leaks yet. I've read cold weather my be a factor. I'm in Connecticut so we get the cold. If so, I'm not conserned, what's it 6 years 60k?

My 08 awd limited has 30 k miles NOLeak. How many edges are on the road? People only post when they have problems.I bet Les than 1% have the leak. I'm not saying it's not a problem, but I don't think it's as wide spread enough to not buy one. I agree it sucks if you end up with one but 30 somthing post? Again how many edges are on the road?

I am having the same problem and its going to cost over $2,000 to fix because I am out of warranty.

What year and how many miles on your Edge? From what I understand its part of the powertrain warranty, (5 years 60 k miles) Your over that amount?

It can be done - the dealers are not correct.

They did it in mine, 08 limited with sync. It had the standard radio. The dealer installed the Nav unit and every thing including sync works perfectly!

Lets not forget the Myth Busters also did there testing, same results, Nothing..

well so much for the fix. It wouldn't shift out of first twice yesterday and a I got an "ODO error" message and the wrench light came on so it's back at the dealership. This is getting annoying.

Well, Ford made good and had the bumper painted for me, looks good. They even gave me a free loaner a Focus.

Anyone else care to chime in or elaborate? Reading up on the PTU stuff has made me slightly uneasy about purchasing the Edge, and Im trying to determine if I am being too concerned or if this is a deserved hold-up.

08 Limited AWD, 23k miles. To date, not a drop of any fluid leaking from any ware. Keep in mind that people don’t post to these forums unless they have trouble. There is a lot of Edges on the road and I doubt the majority of them have any leaks either.

my tranny just started to clunk or bang. It seemes to do it at slow speeds when steping on the has. Is this a known issue? I would love to have the tsb, if there is one, before i go to Ford. its a all wheel drive 08 limited. thanks, Lenny

Is anyone else having trouble with glare from the dash? I get a glare and reflection of the dash on the winshield? If so what have you tried on the dash to help?

Does the brakes on the edge have a Brake Pad Warning Sensor? You know that little piece of metal that rubs and squeaks while the car is moving with foot off the brake peddle when the pads are worn down.

Its happening now everytime I press the brakes. With only 16000 miles on the odometer don't you think its a bit early for the brake pads to be worn down?? I am going to take it to the dealer tomorrow. I hope its under warranty. Thanks for your all your help!

My old Explorer needed front pads every 10k miles.

The dealer had the car for about a month. They had to order some solenoid that is inside the engine. First the wrong side was ordered, ..then after a week or so I was informed that the right part came in, but needed to be installed. Then the engine had to be re assembled. It was all covered under warranty so when I picked it up they just said it was all set. ( no details were shared with me as to what exactly was replaced. ) I have been driving it for a month and it seems fine. Even took an 800 mile round trip drive and all is well.

Did they give you any paper work? I would want paper work for my records.

Does any one have this phone (LG Xenon) on the AT&T network? If so what features work or do not work? Im looking to replace my Moto Razr 2, V-9. This phone works great with Sync, pretty much all features work including text, phonebook download and custom ringtones. Im looking for at least text and phonebook downloads to work. I wanted a Blackberry, but no Text.

Its hard enough to find a phone I like, now I have to find one I like and works with the features of Sync I want to use.

I had the dealer check my 08; he made me a copy of a TSB that describes the problem. When I find it I’ll post what it says exactly.

It basically says this is normal and will not affect engine performance or engine long term reliability.

sorry.. not buying into that logic at all.. the 2 do not even equate.

 

we breath this air all the time, driving down the road with the windows open, with the BAMR open, when not in the car.. good lord, in the scheme of things, that filter doesn't really amount to much at the end of the day. Hell, most cars do not even have such a filter and never needed a cabin air filter before in cars - it doesn't really matter now either and it will not make 1 single difference in life or health at the end of the day. Nor does it do anything for the car.

 

However, the filter on actual engine oil or fuel filter can keep you car from being seriously damaged - and so it does matter.

Im with you on this one, Even with the cabon air filter, the dust on that builds up in the interer is proof.

thanks for the reply, i live in the uae (dubai), is it possible to order the unit and get it installed here, as it costs about 5000 dollar equivalent to get it installed here, and its not the factory nav they install, its a third party navigation done by ford. i have tried ebay with no luck. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

i am new to the forum and booked a ford edge limited just recently waiting for delivery next week. I am just wondering, how much does navigation cost and if I have the navigation installed will I lose sync.

The dealer installed into my 08 Limited already with Sync, a factory Nav , every thing works perfectly. the cost was $2200.00. I love it.

If you go for it, make sure you get in writing that includes Sirius radio (that is if you want it).

A car that new was an auction car? How would it be listed as a mfr vehicle after being a rental car? Is that odd?

I did some googleng, It seems like rental company have some kind of aragement with the Manufactures.

Yep thats How I fliped mine...

That's quite interesting. I just changed mine out a couple of weeks ago on my 2007 MKX and there was no screen just the filter.

My 08 Limited with the auto climate control had just the filter only, no screen also.....
