    Why would you risk installing a bootleg copy of the software and bricking your system?  I didn't see any new features, just a map update and a different look.

    First of all, I'm not forcing anyone to install it.

    Second, it is not a bootleg copy, but fully legitimate copy of software which Ford is installing on MY19+ vehicles. The way we installing it is not completely legitimate though, but as I said nobody is forced.

    Nice bonus of that is having latest maps available for SYNC 3 system for vehicles older than MY18 as Ford did not offered free maps udate for those vehicles which is a bummer!

    How to you find the full version number, mine only shows v3.0, and the Ford owners web site says that the v3.0 update is available.

    file Autoinstall.lst contains that info:

    I think you’re expecting too much out of a basic transverse engine platform.   It would be easier to make a high performance crossover off the Explorer/Aviator CD6 longitudinal platform but word is the new Edge will be on the FWD C2 platform instead.   Maybe the Explorer ST will give you the performance you’re looking for.

    I think Edge Sport/ST is pretty close to the max you’re going to get out of the platform.

    You will be getting max out of Edge with an RS badge... and manual tranny... and 2.7EB tuned to 460hp (which is quite possible considering 2.3l EB Focus RS with M400 Mountune delivers 394bhp).

    My point is that an ST badge it is not even tuned at all. Take 2.0l EB, it delivers 255hp thus 127.5hp per litre of displacement. 127.5hp times 2.7l gives us 344hp while Edge ST is only tuned to 335hp which means it is heavily underperforming, same with 3.5l EB in Explorer delivering just 365hp - underperformer as well... (127.5hp times 3.5l gives 446hp).

    Should admit though Mountune is quite costly and probably it is advisable to upgrade to Audi... :))).

    "To achieve 394bhp, M400 Mountune adds a high-flow induction kit, an uprated re-circulating valve, a large-capacity intercooler, a high-flow charge pipe, a three-inch exhaust downpipe with 200-cell sport catalytic converter, a three-inch exhaust system from the cat backwards and a remap of the ECU. Ford claims the standard Focus RS can reach 62mph from a standstill in just 4.7sec. We’ve actually achieved the same time when launching the RS to just 60mph, too. The M400, however, is significantly quicker completing the 0-60mph dash in just 4.2sec."

        As I looked over the the December issue of Car and Driver I noticed they had  just one page at the back of the magazine for the 2019 Ford Edge ST called "The Sharper Edge" . On page 54 to page 59 they have an article on the 2019 Audi A7 called "Sex Machine".  I have noticed for years how most all car magazines have little nice to say about American cars and drool and fawn over imports :rant:. To compare the numbers of the AudiA7 and the ST Edge they are very close. All the numbers I list here are from the December Car and Driver so no matter if there is a one foot roll out or anything else both cars are tested by the same magazine in the same issue.

       Let's start with power : The Audi is listed with 335 HP and 369 TQ. The Edge with 335HP and 380 TQ. The Edge has 11pounds more TQ than the Audi and they both have the same HP.
       Next is curb weight. The Audi weighs in at 4,451 and the Edge is listed at 4,600 pounds. The Audi is lighter by only 149 pounds. Both cars are AWD.

    Now that we have established the weight, power and drivetrain of both cars this is where it gets weird . The Edge is listed at 5.7 seconds 0 to 60 and the Audi is listed at 4.7 seconds 0 to 60 . The Edge St 1/4 mile is listed at 14.3 Seconds and the Audi is listed at 13.3 Seconds. Now my question is how can there be this big a discrepancy between these two cars as they both make the same HP and weigh within 149 pounds of each other. A full second quicker in the 1/4 mile with the same HP and weight . How can that be? :headscratch:   :confused:  I think C&D is :censored: .

    Listed values mostly mean nothing, test drive under real conditions is needed.

    Meanwhile, Audi is a premium segment, while Ford is a mass product. Do that premium one needs to pay for Audi costs that 1 second, that is another question and up to personal preference.

    Moreover, Audi A7 uses DSG while Ford Edge ST just standard automatic and Audi's Quattro is hard to beat...

  5. I know it is an old post, but...

    I'm not sure if Explorer's MY11 Sony system is equal to Edge's MY18 one (on a speaker side), but I noticed that Edge's one is weaker in terms of bass (at least). My '11 Explorer has pretty stong bass at neutral setting is equilazer, countrary in '18 Edge it is set at maximum and still doesn't sound as strong as in Explorer.

  6. No I tried really hard to order mine with the brake package, my dealer investigated it for me as soon as they received their dealer order forms and the package wasn't listed. Then when the US website listed it and there was a package code they looked into if that could be specially added, we received an email directly from ford saying there was no way for it to be ordered with it and it was not going to be offered with it in canada. So unfortunately it's just not an option if they aren't willing to add on some calipers, pads and a brushless fan onto a canada edge I can't see them willing to do anything anymore complex than that.

    In the meantime all the Edges are built in Canada...

  7. Just a quick question here and maybe I am totally ignorant on this, but... is it possible these days to do a special order and order a base model then pick and choose which options you want? Can that even be done anymore? I suppose a dealer might be ticked off if you asked to do it but hey, Mr. Dealer - you wanna' sell a car or not?

    Not possible for a long time.

    I agree, Ford's packages are ridiculous, but still better than japanese or korean where there are only few trim levels available and anything extra can't be ordered...

  8. Please note that the 2015 - 2018 Edge uses the H11 (not H9).

    Can anyone speak to a LED conversion kit to replace the stock Low Beam lights (which rather poor)??

    I just did LED conversion for both low and high beam. I went with these bulbs:

    Low beam - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B017M57NAU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    High beam - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B017M57DJG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Paid $157 CAD for both sets.

    Both packaging and build quality seem to be great.

    Installation was easy for driver side since there is nothing in the way, passenger side was ok to replace high beam bulb, low beam was a bummer since there is coolant tank in the way, snapping bulb in is almost impossible without taking out the headlight. High beam bulbs had to turn connector 180deg. Fans are bit noisy and can be heard when engine is not running (outside only, not in the cabin)

    As for LED low beam I dont see any big difference in how far I can see, since it doesnt depend on the bulb but on the projector (if we were dealing with reflector then it would be a difference). LED is slightly brighter and absolutely white colour. Halogen visibility on the wet road was extremely bad since I couldnt see pretty much anything and I yet have to test how LED do perform on a wet road.

    As for LED high beam there is a HUGE difference in visibility, halogen wasnt doing much in there, but LED is just super bright and lighting road far away.

    So far I have no any issues with them after installation, no flickering, no bulb errors on dash (both, low and high beam bulbs are 35W). They perfectly fit inside the headlight housing with dust caps back in its place. Will be keeping an eye on them in terms of heating issues.

  9. The vehicle that I'm talking about for this software is my 2014 Ford Taurus Limited which has Sync2 MFT presently at version v3.8 (15128). I have both vehicles listed under my profile. I've attached the autoinstall from the v3.10 software.

    The autoinstall file you have is missing your version 3.8.15128 for whatever reason even though we have the same version 3.10.161080.

    Here is portion of string from Autoinstall file:

    The line you missing is in RED

    Item11 = EA5T-14F496-VE
    Open11 = SyncMyRide\EA5T-14F496-VE.zip
    Options = AutoInstall
    [sYNCGen2_3.08.15128]
    [sYNCGen2_4.30.13171]
    [sYNCGen2_4.31.13319]
    [sYNCGen2_4.32.14073]
    [sYNCGen2_4.32.14122]
    Item1 = EA5T-14D546-AKB
    Open1 = SyncMyRide\EA5T-14D546-AKB.cab

    Nevertheless,

    In order to install 3.10 please replace the Autoinstall file with the one I attached and change "txt" extension with "lst" as I wasn't allowed to upload .lst

    autoinstall.txt

  10. Ford made Sync2 v3.10 available for download but when you download it and try to install it says it requires a dealer to install, on the Sync screen. I've contacted Ford IVT (In-Vehicle Technology) about this and they responded that they would get back to me but its been 2 weeks and no answer.

    Their response 2 weeks ago was: "This is being reviewed for you. Someone will reach out to you as soon as possible. However, it may be a good idea to have this installed at the Ford service center."

    Hold on, just noticed, do you have 2017 Edge? You should have SYNC 3 then, not SYNC 2

    Check your version of SYNC and compare it against Autoinstall.lst file of version 3.10 you downloaded (opens by any text reader like wordpad or notepad). Your version is most likely not included in that file. I can help you to modify it so you can install it by yourself without visiting dealer

  12. I have replaced APIM with used one with same version 3.0.2 (which is 4.26.12023_PRODUCT), do you recommend that I update to version 3.08 by downloading the version at the top of this page?

    First, go to syncmyride.com and check again if an update available for your vehicle. Ford just recently made SYNC v3.10 officially available for download.

    Second, If not, you could try installing 3.08 or 3.10 from links available on this page. There is a 99% chance you'll get it succesfully installed, but another 1% might fall into dead APIM category (those cases have been previously reported)
