I have an 08 AWD LImimited w/ 13k. Had the bad smell and smoke coming from under car last weekend after returning home from a short trip. Puddle of dark red fluid underneath the next morning, no warning lights came on. Had it towed to local delaer, it has been there for over a week with what they descbe as a failed axle seal. Nobody can tell me when a part will be available. I have a stripped down Focus as a loaner. Not quite a comparable car. I then called Ford Customer Care, and they have checked back with me to let me know they are researching this, and I should expect a call on Tuesday. It seems weird that nobody can provide a timeframe for a part. Until now, I have been fairly pleased with the car, but not looking forward to the future problems given these posts. In my state after 15 days out of service I can go the lemon law route. I have one year left on my lease. Anyone have any updates on part availability, etc? Thanks for any info.

My 08 Edge Limited AWD w/ 13k has been parked at my local dealer for a week. They say it is an axle seal that failed. Interestingly, nobody can tell me when the part might actually come in. I called Ford Customer Care, and they elevated the level of the complaint and I am due a phone call next Tuesday. They can't tell me how long the wait is yet, either. Is this the same issue as the PTO problems I have been reading about or something different? In my state (MA), after 15 days out of service I am covered under the lemon law. Anyone have any updates on part delays for this problem, etc? Too bad, otherwise I have been enjoying the car. Thanks for any assistance.
