  1. 2007 Edge SE AWD with Hankook Dynapro tires. At 42,000 miles, I replaced the 2 front tires with the same Hankooks that came from the factory. Had the dealer install and rotate the other two tires to the back. A month later, a valve stem cracked on one of the new tires and had to be replaced. Now, 30 days later, a valve stem has cracked on one of the two back tires and I have another flat. I have been driving for 30 years and have never had a problem with a valve stem. Now it has happened twice in 30 days--once on a new tire and once on a factory old one. Any thoughts on this?
  2. I bought myself one of these for Christmas, and I am very happy with it. Cost me about $80.00 from the dealer, and took all of five minutes to program and install it. It looks almost identical to the factory version--I don't think anyone could tell the difference except someone else who bought one. Most of the factory models I have observed have been in black as well. My wife also got me the black Ford rear bumper protector. It was also easy to install and I think really helps the look of the backend. It's too thin to offer any real protection, but looks are the most important thing, of course! It has the word "Edge" embossed in the middle of it, which doesn't show up in any of the internet pics I have seen. I would recommend both products.
  3. 2007 SE AWD with 42,000 miles. I had been hearing a roar from the rear of the vehicle--started at about 20 mph and got progressively louder as I went faster. Replaced two worn out tires and the noise did not go away, but kept getting louder. Took the Edge to the dealer Saturday, and they are replacing both rear bearings under warranty. The parts still had not come in this evening. On the bright side, the dealer rented me a 2009 Ford Flex SEL to drive until the Edge is repaired. I'm still not wild about the exterior of the Flex--reminds me of a school bus more than anything. I Like the shape of my wife's Taurus X much better. But the interior is very comfortable. Love the blue dash lights and the Sony stereo with Sirius. Seems to handle well considering its size, but the 3.5 litre seems to work pretty hard moving all that weight around. I'm beginning to miss my Edge, even though the Flex has more bells and whistles.
  4. 41,000 miles, 07 AWD. No problems yet.
  5. That would be a single disc player, I presume?
  6. Okay, not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things, but I have an SE with cloth seats, and the drivers seat has a squeak in the bottom that's driving me nuts! Every time I sit down, SQUEEAAKK. I have 39,000 miles and am out of bumper-to-bumper warranty. Dealer told me it would probably be 2 hours labor or more to take the seat apart and investigate--upwards of $150.00. Anyone removed the bottom of the seat cover to give me any ideas?
  7. I've got the Ford factory version on my Copper 07 SE--www.fordaccessories.com. It was about $75.00 in smoke color. I think it looks great, especially if you've got the dark grey panels on the bottom of the Edge. Also tinted the front windows and added window vents to complete the look.
  8. Anyone know if the single cd / mp3 player in the 2007 Edge SE will control an aftermarket cd changer? A couple of prior Ford Windstars that we owned had a single cd, and we bought an aftermarket 10 disc changer that was installed under the passenger seat.
  9. Noticed that the black covers for the B and C pillars between the doors was coming loose on 2 doors. There is a screw hole in each piece, but no screw, and no hole drilled in the doors for the screws. Left it with the dealer for 2 hours today, thinking they would install the screws. Instead, they just put in some double-sided tape, which is already pulling loose again. Is this a common problem, or did someone just forget to drill the holes in mine at the factory? I'm probably just going to insert some screws myself.
  10. I would advise EXTREME CAUTION with the scratch removers. I have a similar situation with the panel that has the cupholders and shift lever. The Scratch X helps on light scratches, but as noted above, you will leave a shiny spot if you rub too hard. I tried another scratch remover and actually made worse scratches than I started with. I priced the piece from my Ford dealer, and they told me $217.00 for the one piece. I am living with the scratches for now.
  11. I have an 07 Edge SE which has the dual exhaust but does not have the nice polished chrome exhaust tips that are on the SEL and Limited. Instead, it has some 3 inch metal flares back there, but they are not chrome. Budget is small. Has anyone seen a bolt-on chrome piece that will slide on over the factory 3 inch tips? Will those come off with either heat or a hammer and leave the 2 inch exhaust pipe intact? I've seen bolt-on tips that will go over the 2 inch pipes and take them to 3 inches. Looks like 3.25 or 3.5 inch would fill the bumper cutout better. Or do I need to go to a muffler shop and have some welded on?
  12. What's up with the rear-end collisions??? Same thing happened to me about a month ago. Waiting for someone in front of me to turn left and got rearended by an 18 year old girl driving a Chevy Corsica. New rear bumper cover, new exhaust, and paint = $1,700.00. I got to drive a Kia Spectra for a week while my Ford dealer fixed it.
  13. Hello to all! I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 2007 Ford Edge SE AWD in Blazing Copper with 25,000 miles. I have already found a lot of useful info. at the forum. Prior vehicle was a 2006 Ford Fusion V6. The Fusion was an excellent car, but I wanted to go back to something taller and with more interior room, and AWD or 4WD. Absolutely love the AWD in the snow and rain, but now I have found all the posts about PTU issues, so I am worried, wondering if and when it's going to happen to me. I have owned Fords since the mid 80s. Prior vehicles: 75 Mustang II 86 Escort 88 Ranger 88 Bronco II 93 Explorer Sport 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee 1998 Ranger 4WD 2004 Explorer Sport Trac 2006 Fusion Wife's ride is a 2008 Taurus X.
