  1. How do you know you will only get 240 miles per tank on E85? Did you convert your MKX to burn it? Or is this just a mathematic assumption? Just because YOU might get 240 miles out of a tank of gas doesn't mean Joe Blo will have the same mileage. If you haven't bought a conversion kit for your vehicle then you can't even begin to make assumptions on mileage. If I accidentally put E85 in my Edge, it's going to run rough and get terrible mileage because it doesn't have the proper fuel injectors or computer mapping. The only way to get mileage estimates is to do a real world test. Just because you did some math does not mean it's correct
  2. Okay, first of all that makes no sense. GM's financial situation has nothing to do with their vehicles being compatible with E85. I used to own a 2001 Taurus which was a flex fuel vehicle. You could fill up with plain gas, blended gas, and e85. Hell, if we had 100% ethanol fuel it could even burn that. (Like they do down in Brazil) There are STILL Ford vehicles being produced today which run on E85, mainly fleet vehicles. Most of the Ford city vehicles in my area also burn E85. So to assume that GM went under because of their E85 compatible engines is just wrong. Second, who's to say that it isn't worth it?? Sure, you will get lower mileage, but you'll be releasing fewer toxins back into the atmosphere when you drive your Edge. Ethanol is here to stay for quite some time. Call me crazy but it's probably cheaper to convert a gasoline-powered car to run E85, versus buying a new "green" vehicle. How else do we expect to transition from gasoline to alternative fuels? You can't do it overnight, especially when the majority of the population owns gas-powered vehicles. Conversion kits would be the first step to this transition. msfd350, it never hurts to ask your dealer. They may even have a conversion kit, or collection of parts that they use for converting fleet vehicles to E85.
  3. Technically, yes. When I bought my Edge it was a $555 option, so chances are, it will be even more expensive to have it added now. However, it really is a nice feature to have...
  4. Our Edges flasher is controlled by the Smart Junction Box, which is something that only the dealer can program. If you want to cut into your wiring, use the resistor method to stop the bulb-out warning. If you don't want to modify your wiring, ask your dealer to turn off the bulb-out warning in the SJB, simple as that. They may question as to whether or not it can be done, but trust me, it can.
  5. Obviously Ford is going to recommend using the bulbs that came with the vehicle, however i'm not sure how turning off a bulb-out warning would void your warranty... I could see how it might be used against you if your LEDs stopped working and someone rear ended you though. I use these for the front markers/turn signals: http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Turn-Signal-LED/Amber-LED/V-LEDS-AMBER-60-M-SMT-p4835729-1-2.html and these for the rear parking/brake lights: http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Brake-Light-LED/Red-LED/2-RED-3157-V-LEDS-7W-p6634413-1-2.html
  6. My dealer has the best labor rates in town, and I'm still under warranty. Even if they DID charge me for say, a half hour of labor, I would have gladly paid it. I'd rather be safe than potentially void my warranty! Just wanted to let others know that there was an alternative to wiring resistors, since I'm sure there are others out there who also aren't comfortable messing with wiring! Cheers!
  7. Wow I thought I was the only one having issues with the Weathertech deflector... I'm pretty sure mine got warped during shipping because I had the exact same problem. No issues whatsoever with the side window deflectors from Weathertech, those things are great! I ended up returning my deflector to Weathertech and got the Ford one instead. No fit issues at all.
  8. I just posted in a new thread, but if you want LEDs without the fast clicking (bulb out warning), all you have to do is ask your dealer to turn OFF the bulb out warning in the Smart Junction Box. If one of your LEDs goes out, you won't be notified with the bulb out warning though. If you're like me and you check your bulbs all the time, this shouldn't be an issue. BTW the bulbs I'm using are from www.v-leds.com. So far they have been the best quality aftermarket LEDs I have found.
  9. One more thing - my dealer did this for FREE, as my wife's Focus was also in the shop getting an oil change. I love small town dealerships :-)
  10. Hey guys! Been a while since I posted to these forums but thought I would give you an update (or maybe not depending if you already knew this) on the situation with changing your exterior lights to LEDs. I changed my taillight bulbs to LEDs and immediately noticed that the SJB (Smart Junction Box) thought my bulbs were out, due to the low current of the LEDs. Being as that my car is still under warranty, I didn't want to screw with adding resistors to my wiring, so I brought it into my dealer and asked them what they could do. Turns out all they have to do is turn off the bulb out warning in the SJB!!! So that means any future upgrades, like changing my front parking/turn signals to LEDs, will be no hassle. It also means I don't have to worry about putting my crappy old incandescents back in and risk burning the sockets!

    RPM's '09 Cinnamon Edge

Here are a few pics of my Cinnamon '09 Edge
  12. Hi klc! I too am expecting to get my '09 Edge Limited very soon! Although I did not get the trailer tow and remote start packages. (It'll have heated seats so I figure that should be at least as good as the remote start) To me, it seems like the navigation is a waste of money... Others might say they love their navigation system but it just seems kind of pricey to me for something my gps-cellphone can just as easily do. I would think the SYNC would keep you entertained as far as techy-stuff goes. What mods have you considered for your new vehicle? I think I'm going to replace my tails and front signals to LEDs for my first mod.
