Off topic, but my favorite thing that I got for this truck to replace the airbag warning stickers...lol Just happened to run across it while I was looking up the old pics of this

I love that style of wheels. Very simple and look good. However, I don't think they look all that great in large diameters (like 22"), look better with a "bit" of meat around them. I'd look in the 18-19 inch diameters but of course it's all up to you. I had a set of salvage yard 17" Mustang Bullit wheels (similar style) on my '03 Ranger that I sold (and still regret it) and they looked killer on it. You can also get the centers powder coated to match your vehicle color while leaving the polished aluminum outer ring and that looks good too. I got that done after this pic was taken. The beige color actually looked great on them. Heres a pic of my Ranger..IIRC, the tire size on it was 255/55/17. It nearly perfectly matched the OEM diameter of the tires that came on the truck (so my gearing and speedo wasn't off) and filled in the wheelwells of my mild 3/3 lowering. Not exactly what you are looking for but should show you what the style looks like on a regular Ford vehicle..

We have a 2007 MKX that originally came with a stock CD6 head unit. As many of you know, I have since swapped in a factory MKX Nav head unit, and replaced all the factory speakers (6x8s and front tweeters) with better Infinity Kappa units. Sound is good (a little better than stock) but the speakers can handle alot more power to sound even better so I am considering getting a 4-channel amplifier. I have located a harness kit from PAC Audio (the same company that supplied me with the IPhone/Sirius integration) that requires no cutting or splicing of the factory wires to add such an amplifier. I'm not going to get crazy and install all new speaker wires to the 4 door speakers since I would only be adding 50Wx4 or so. Just wondering if anyone has done this yet on their Edge or MKX. I obviously want to keep the factory Ford NAV unit so no, I don't want to replace the head unit....I know that will get mentioned...haha. Also, not interested in an aftermarket subwoofer or a Stealth box type sub (way too much money). If so, I have a few questions: Seems like there is plenty of space under and behind the center console (under the dash area) to hide the amp. That big void seems like it would not cause any heat related issues with the amplifier. I haven't had a chance to search yet but I'm sure that will answer this question. Where can I get the power for the amp from? Is there any other fused 12V power source around that I could safely use besides running an ugly wire directly to the battery? Anybody who is experienced in this...what is a middle of the road reasonably priced suggestion for a mild 4 channel amp? Not looking to spend thousands but a reliable, decent one. Thanks for the help!

You will most likely need to get the head unit re-programmed for your specific vehicle. The wiring harness is the same for all but it may not be recognizing the signal from the AUX jack. If you look through my topics, I have a very lengthy trial & error install of a NAV unit into our MKX which just had the regualr 6CD/AM/FM unit in it originally.

Glad I looked this up. Just spent most of the day yesterday cleaning, claying, and waxing our MKX and while we were out at folks today I was trying to unload the boxer (dog) out of the rear. I always lift her in and out to reduce any chances but I forgot to block her as the gate was going up, she jumped out, and put a scratch on our bumper. I got most of it out, but I can still see it. I may look into this Toyota/Scion part.

' I'm not sure if the Escape radio is 100% compatible with the Edge as far as pin-outs and harnesses but I'm sure you did your homework before you purchased. As for the Mazda logo, it more than likely came from a Mazda Tribute which is a near exact twin to the Ford Escape. I was not aware they offered a Tribute Hybrid but then again I am not sure. Sorry I can't be of more help but some internet searching should fill you in. As for the reprogramming, check in my topics. I went through a learning experience putting a factory MKX nav unit in our MKX that wasn't originally equipped with one. Has worked fine for several months now, no problems at all. I did end up having to send it off to get reprogrammed for our specific vehicle.

I've had mine out before, it's kind of scary the first time you do it because it feels like they are going to break but as Lex mentioned, once you do it it's fairly easy.

I would suggest using a clay bar on these parts just the same as you would with the painted surfaces. Also keeping a good coat of wax on these parts helps to keep them clean and free of spots that cant be simply washed off. When I clay & wax ours I do all the smooth rubber trim like around the windows, windshield seal, etc. It keeps them blacker and looking good. The wax is easy to get off of these areas since they are smooth. Just dont get any on the textured plastic (like the lower rockers, mirror plastic, etc) because its very hard to remove and makes a mess.

IIRC, the deal is still good on buying 4 Michelins that you get a $70 mail-in rebate. I got ours from TireRack and have no complaints at all, great all around tires. We got the Michelin Latitude Tours.

Here was yesterdays project. An '04 Infiniti G-35 sedan that one of neighbors inherited. I forgot to take any before photos, but it obviously had been very neglected. Paint was in horrible condition, dry, road tar, brake rust, and junk all in the finish, all the door jambs, engine compartment, and trunk area were packed full of old leaves and dirt, and the inside had obviously never been taken care of. Filthy carpet, dried up leather seats, etc. Anyway, about 8 hours worth of work later I ended up with this. Trashed 2 clay bars getting the paint clean and put on a coat of Meguires NXT, I love that wax...good stuff! The inside and leather, engine compartment, and underneath the car turned out nice too but that was alot of work! Extra cash for messing in the garage on a nice Saturday is fine with me and the neighbor was shocked how nice it turned out so was happy to pay. Now it resembles something you could actually drive instead of thinking you might need a tetanus shot from sitting in it...haha. Enjoy...

Ours takes the full 5.5 quarts, I'm not gonna take the time to covert to liters (lol) but I usually buy a 5 Qt. jug of oil and buy another single quart and pour half of it in. That way you have half a quart to top off if you need any or for the next oil change. Going 12,500 miles is a long time in my opinion. Not sure what they recommend in the owners manual (I think 7500 miles) I think I'd stick with that. Since we barely drive ours 10,000 or less miles a year I change it once in the spring and once in the fall, about a 5000 mile interval and I use full-synthetic Mobil 1 5W-20. Obviously talking oil life, synthetic vs. factory Motorcraft semi-synthetic, etc opens up a whole mess of debate and thats not what I'm trying to do. Just telling you what I personally do with my oil change interval. I got our trans fluid changed at 30,000 miles and will do it again at 60k, 90k, etc. May be overkill but again thats just what I do. Again, I would stick with whatever the owners manual suggests but it certainly doesn't hurt to do it more frequently.
