  1. Digging up a slightly old post... but I guess we'll be testing our '07 SEL+ with tow package soon. My wife called and told me that I now own a boat. We'd been looking, but she's the "Master Negotiator" in our house, so I'd pick them out, and she'd work on the price... I guess she got a deal she liked this morning.

It's a 17.5' with a weight of 2325 (incl trailer) according to the manufacturers web site. the closest boat ramp to us is less than 2 miles from the house (Lake Allatoona, GA), so we don't have to go far. The ramps are kind of steep, so that's my only concern is pulling it back out when done.

I've got a '01 F-250 Crew Cab Diesel 4x4 that I can use, but we also have a 26' travel trailer and it would be nice to be able to pull the travel trail with the F-250 and the boat with the Edge. I can always put in and pull it out with the truck after we get to camp, I guess.

  2. Since we are all giving our opinions, here is mine. Some of you wondering about how the price of those "spatulas" can cost so much. Well from what I have found online is that you can get wheels that are made cheap or made really well. Tirerack sells some 22" for the 07' Edge for as little as $302 and as high as $1168 per wheel. It just depends on what brand of wheel you purchase. Everyone likes what they like. I like the chrome look just not the ones he picked out. I would personally love to have the Avarus AV1's from Tirereack.com on my Edge. Those black ASA's that Mr. Behr is putting on his Edge are straight "BUDUSSY". Of course, that's just my opinion, do whatever floats your boat.

And for those (like myself) not too up on the terms... What is BUDUSSY?

  3. Most likely it's there, it's just takes some hunting. It is not what I expected anyhow with the bundle of colored wires. From the rear of the car, it is pointing down from the bumper to the left of the receiver. It is covered with a plastic cap as well. Actually, once you see it, it is kind of slick how they did it.

Ya.. it's a standard 4 pin plug like DJ Starr said. No "pig-tail" for other type trailer plugs.

  4. I have a rattle in th roof, and the dealer has ordered, basically the entire track mechinisim. Everything except the glass and motor(s) will be replaced to repai the noise?? I demanded it be repaired @ Starlite the area sun roof specialists. All this with 292 miles? Additionally, if a manufacture states they have a problem without a cure, that is the death nail for the lemon law here in Cali. Four times without repair success, the same. Whatever you do have everything documented. Lastly. tell your rep you want out. Call the BBB for options and advise as to the rules in your state. Good luck

you sure about that? I don't know how it is in Kaliforina, but the lemon law in Georgia only applies to a safety type defect... a sun roof rattle is no where near a safety issue.

edit.. I guess the allignment could be thought of a safety issue, but good luck trying to lemon law it if you go that route.

  5. I was going to order a 2008 Limited BUT they only offered the chrome clad! I ordered a 2007 with the painted ones, my car isn't here yet but saw some Egde's on the lot and prefer the painted my self.. The chrome chad looks nice but when you get close to them, they just look like an upgraded hub cap. Just my opinion and preference.

Our dealer actually pointed out to us that the Chrome wheels were the way they are. The one our sales guy showed me, teh chrome part actually felt kind of loose. I think he really wanted to sell us our Edge and didn't want to hassle whit having the wheels swapped since my wife wanted the chromes ones at first.

I like the painted 18" wheels better anyhow...

  6. I dunno... it was damn hot in Atlanta today... High of 97 and 60% humidity (heat index made it feel like 104). Our edge baked in the sun from 8am until 5pm (it was 95 and the heat index made it feel like 103)... I jumped in, turned on the AC put the BAMR on rear tilt/vent and by the time I got out of our parking lot (about 200 people in my bldg all leaving at once) and it was fine.

If you know someone with an IR temp gun, have them shoot it down the ducts of your Edge after the AC's been on for a while and see if it's putting out cold air.. ours got as low as 32 deg at one point, so it has no issue colling us off. also make sure that you are recirculating your air and not using fresh, so it cool cold air rather than hot outside air.

We have a copper Edge with charcoal interior, by the way.

On the other hand, my 6yo F-250 that probably is over due to have a recharge on the AC unit seemed like it wasn't doing jack in the same heat yesterday. It's got no sunroof and light interior with dark green paint.

  7. Here's an article that sort of explains the color choices...

Don’t be surprised if the Ford salesman asks you “what’s your flavor?” when you come shopping for a Ford Edge.

The new Ford crossover comes in paint colors like Crème Brulee and Light Sage -- named for food and spices -- to make the job of selecting a paint color for a new Edge a little more delectable. It also marks a new push at Ford Motor Co. to tie vehicles in with societal trends such as America's zest for foods.

"There has been a lot of movement in the foodie culture," said Susan Lampinen, Ford group chief designer for color and materials. "There's the raw food movement, organic foods the slow food movement. What person today can't relate to food?"

Don’t come looking for a gray-green Edge. There won’t be any. The new Edge is offered in Light Sage though.

And what beige or camel or light brown paint color? The Edge is sold in Creme Brulee.

Looking for a rich, full-size SUV in white? How about a 2007 Lincoln Navigator painted in White Chocolate? Delicious hmmm?

And if ever there was a memorable, four-door truck, it's a 2007 Ford Explorer SportTrac in Orange Frost – doesn’t the name just remind you that cheery children's beverage made with orange sherbet?

Ford insists however, that safety, reliability, styling, performance and, lately, fuel economy, remain the top considerations for buyers – in spite of the fancy foodie names. Still, there's no denying that Ford is making the selection process for shoppers a lot more fun. And there’s more on the way.

  8. My owner's manual (pages 102 and 103) lists what is checked and in what order. It says:

    1. Doors Closed

    2. Engine Temperature

    3. Oil Pressure

    4. Brake Fluid Level

    5. Washer Fluid Level

    6. Fuel Level

    7. Distance to Empty

Nothing about the Tire Pressure or TPMS.

Where in your manual does it say this?

In the same place.. I must have an earlier printing of the owners manual. the must have changed the software at one point.

  9. We also didn't need the Hitch.. I have a F-250 diesel that'll pull more than anything we'll ever own, but the other items like the engine oil cooler, larger radiator, upgraded battery and cooling fan were worth the extra. There will probably never be a trailer hooked up to our Edge.

For your hitch cover... how about this for $2.99...

  10. Good luck to you.. we test drove a Highlander right before we tested the Edge for the 2nd time. Honestly, the Highlander didn't do much for us, but it's a good seller, so... it just wasn't the cuv for us.

hmmm... maybe we drove a '07... I don't remember it looking like the one one toyota's page, but it may have.

  11. I have the same rattle on my 3day old Edge and I'm not exactly sure where your description of the black platic bezel is located. Could you be more precise or take a pic where the rattle source is? Thanks.

I answered in your original post about your rattle, but here ya go....

Open the sunshade and then get in thd back seat. look up through the rear vista roof panel and there's a piece of black trim that goes around the under side of the glass. It's held in with double sided tape and it it's loose, will hange lower than it should be and rattle over bumps. On ours, I just pushed it back into place and pressed down all the way around the trim to make sure it was stuck down good. others may need to add more double sided tape.

  12. Has anyone else here noticed that the sunshade rattles when closed going over moderate bumpy roads? Looks to me like the design of the shade is extreemly cheaply made. I expected a more rigid piece covered in fabric...mine is almost hollow when you push lightly on it(up). Might take back to the dealer tomorrow...only had the car 2 days...also, the cover that covers the spare tire...rattle,rattle,rattle....removed from car,now all is quiet...Ford still has some design/assembly issues that led me to buy an Acura...my wife still loves her Fords, and so did I until the 02 Escape my wife had previously to this Edge....cheapest vehicle I've ever owned...oh well, off my soapbox. Any info on the sunshade is appreciated.

Check the trim around the glass (between the shade and the glass) by the back window. It appears to be held in with double sided tape and can come loose.

Since the design of these shades is to roll up behind the glass (like a roll up window shade in a house), I'm not sure how that they could have used a more rigid material for this.

  14. You know I saw that pic a week ago but I didn't think it was the 2008 Edge because the liftgate does not have a new handle like everyone was talking about like the MKX has...? :banghead:

Isn't the part of the tailgate right above license plate a handle for lifting it up? that's what it's been used for on ours at least... once it's up high enough then I use the ones one either side on the bottom of the tail gate to lift up the rest of the way. I prefer the license plate positioned where it is rather then in the bumper.

  15. Hey the 2008 order guide says"CHROME BELTLINE MOLDING" Does anyone know what this is going to look like? What is this? Anyone have any pic's of another auto with this molding? :redcard:

    Thanks Y'all

Search on Beltline.. there's anotehre thread about it already on here somewhere... but here's a link to a page with a picture... it's the chrome under the windows instead of black trim
