  1. I know there was a lot of previous discussions on the 2007 tires. Specifically that the Continental tires on the 2007 would be replaced in 2008 with another brand to improve stopping distance.

I plan to get the 20" rims on the Limited and told my Sales guy that I thought the $895 price tag for the 20" Chrome rims over the 18" Chrome rims was kind of steep considering the '07 model Ford only charged $750 to upgrade from an 18" Aluminum rim to 18" Chrome rim. My Sales guy said the added cost was probably due to the larger tires however when checked it, I found out that 245/60 R18 and 245/50 R20 have exactly the same dimensions. So it's not like you're paying for more rubber...in actuality you get less rubber and more rim.

It would have been nice to at least bump the size to a 255/50. For $895 it better be a darn good brand. Can anyone confirm the brand yet?

Ya, but the lower profile tires on the 20" rims cost more anyhow... go to tirerack.com and price them... Supply and demand thing.

  2. I found the Sync Demo on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiUiJaIlLRg

It clearly shows the LCD screen used to view Caller ID, Text Messages, and Track Listings. Maybe I'm answering my own question here but I don't see how you could possibly use those features without a LCD. I can see the Edge in the Demo has the DVD Nav buttons to the right of the screen.

Could be the same way that RDS info is displayed on a non-NAV radio

  3. I bought the Husky liner for our Copper Edge and with the heat of the summer sun it has molded to fit the cargo area. It is definitely a good buy if you do not want to dirty the carpet in the back.

Ours caught about a cup of milk that came out of a bottle that got squished with all the other junk from the store. Just wipe it up rather than cleaning the carpet so the car doesn't smell like rotten milk.

  4. Polarized glasses and looking through the windshield and not at it does the trick for me. I notice the silver trim around the useless little pocket at the top of the center stack sometimes, but it's not enough to bother me. I get similar reflection (that's what it is, not glare, by the way) from the black and tan dash on my F-250 too.

Like Good Hands, I['m not into the look of a dash mat either.

  5. We had an issue with our BAMR at first, but the dealer fixed it under warranty. It would make a noise when closing and sometimes not close all the way the first time (it would get to about an inch of closing and then back up like it thought something was stuck in it.. like an arm/hand). They adjusted the track on the passenger side and all is well now.

As for noise, it's actually nice and quiet inside ours. I too drove an Edge without the BAMR while ours was getting the BAMR adjusted, and it drove the same and was just as quite.

Can't help on the lease.. we put far to many miles on vehicles to do a lease.

  6. I beg to differ. The GPS antenna is the black button on top of the spoiler. GPS needs a clear view of the sky.

I'll for sure disagree with those statements...

    1) Our Edge does not have the SatRad antenna on the spoiler (we don't have Sirius... I'm an XM kinda guy)

    2) At least on my Garmin 60CSx, I'm picking up 9 Satelites (out of 12 possible channels) in a windowless room in my basement right now.

  7. Is it possible (and then how difficult) to add the factory foglights to an SE model Edge. Previous cars I've owned already had the wiring harness and connectors in place (cost savings to use same harness?) and it was relatively simple to buy the parts (or kit in some cases) and put the pieces into the bumper cutouts and dash switch. Any info about the SE? I'd be perfectly happy with an SE with the exception of it not having fog lights (I think they should be a required safety feature, but that's me). Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

I don't know about the wiring, but does your headlight switch have the set up for it? to turn then on, you have to pull out the knob on the headlight switch. A headlight switch could run into a good amount of money if it's not the one for fog lights. Just the knob (not the entire switch) for my F-250 when it broke cost me $25.00

  8. No Lincoln doesn't have anything like this, Since mine is White Chocolate, I will be going for a clear plastic covering, like the type that can be installed on your front bumper. Google search for protective Bumper cover and you'll come across a few places where you can order one precut, and instructions on how to install. ( Name of site escapes me at this moment, but when I am ready to order I will re-run my search again.) Then again, I'm debating with myself on the need to have it, I don't plan on hauling lumber out the back of the Lincoln.

From my earlier post in this thread... Part #7A1Z-17B807-AA for the MKX and Part #7T4Z-17B807-AA for the Edge.

And the first time a can of corn falls out of a grocery sack unloading your vehicle and it takes a nice chip of paint out you'll wish you had it installed.

  9. the problem with the paper labels on the CDs is that they get HOT in teh player... so hot that the adheasive will let loose and no matter how well that you put it on, it's going to come loose and jam.

I've had no problems playing homemade CDs without labels with other Ford radios (Visteon Brand) in the past and no problems with our Pioneer made unit in our Edge.

  10. Also deleted is the outside temp reading on the EDGE, while the Fusion , Taurus, F-150/ 250 truck retain them. I miss that. Once you've had it for the past decade or so, you miss it. Are you listening Ford?

No, you just have to get the dual-zone automatic climate control... it's part of that.

From the Owners Manual Page 72

EXT: Press to display outside temperature. Press again to display

cabin temperature settings. Note: Exterior readings are more accurate

    when the vehicle is moving.

  11. I have followed all of the directions in the owner's manual and I cannot get any sound. I bought the cord from bestbuy and it was the one that it asked for. I connected it directly to my ipod then to the AIJ. Is there something i'm missing?

What's the volume of your ipod set at? try turning it up more. Not all the way as you'll be "over driving' the amp in the radio and get distortion.

  12. I'm looking for a custom fitting cargo tray to keep my wet dog from ruining the carpet. Looked in JC Whitney and did not see any offered. Does anyone know of a maker for this item?

Husky Liners... I got ours from www.AutoAnything.com

These pictures were taken shortly after I took it out of the box where it was rolled up. It's now reformed itself and lays flat and fits better.

We also got liners for the front and 2nd seats

  13. Thanks for the pictures and the install instructions Bryce. Very easy to install, so now I will not hesitate about seeing if they have one at the lincoln accessories site which I am pretty sure they do.

Part #7A1Z-17B807-AA for the MKX and Part #7T4Z-17B807-AA for the Edge.

Now that it's been on all day and I've had a few chances to look at it, I have grown from liking it to really liking it. The one thing that changed it for me is that it's hardly noticeable until you are right on top of the back of our Edge. Being as thin as it is helps hide it from angles greater than a few feet away, but it does seem to be fairly tough material and while it wouldn't help if you dropped something hard enough to crack the bumper, it looks to be able to keep you from scraping your paint off more than a few times if you hit it with something like a suitcase or cooler.

  14. It's a great time to leave GA for WI - really sweet weather up here right now. :happy feet:

Actually temps are looking to be about the same, but even though we're in a sever drought, the air is still humid and the evenings look to be cooler in Wisconsin. Sending my daughter up there in a plane this evening and going to rescue her next weekend. I can only take my extended family in small doses :hysterical:

  15. Congrats. The Edge drives faster than it feels (you go fast without realizing it) - so watch out for Johnny Law :hysterical:

I got pulled over within 24 hours of getting ours... 56 in a 45. the officer took pity on me for just having gotten a new car and let me go with a warning... I still wonder if he just wanted to check out our Edge.

  16. Nice job with the install, Bryce!

I'm thinking of having one put on at our dealership, as I'm a little concerned that I'd muck it up trying to do it myself. Is that a Ford accessory available from Ford, or is a third-party purchase?

From Ford Accessories. generally, I'd push people to do this themselves, but at $60something for the piece, it may be worth it to have them install. If they charge more than 1/2 hour to install, then they are ripping you off.you may want to see if a sign shop would install it for you if you bring it in... maybe save a few $$$ that way. If you were in Atlanta, our price for the install would be $25 if you brought it to our shop.

the piece is on backing paper that's cut out to fit perfect on the bumper... no measuring required... just line it up with the bumper, tape it down like I described and then install.

  17. We installed our Ford Bumper Protection decal this morning. While it wasn't something that we could have reproduced in our sign shop, we could have come up with something that would have been a way cheaper option. I'm happy with the product, but not the price and feel that it (or a nicer one) should have come included with the vehicle.

It's basically a thick decal with some embossed things for traction and the word EDGE in it.

    Here's a few pictures....

    bumper1.jpg

    bumper2.jpg

    bumper3.jpg

I used a "hinge" install method where you place it where you want to go without pulling off the transfer tape or the waxed paper on the adhesive. then you put a strip of masking tape across the center (where edge is embossed) to hold it in place. Peal 1/2 away from the waxed paper and then squeegee down from the center out. then do the other half. No bubbles in ours, but then again we do this stuff for a living.

Roughly a 10 minute install for us including surface prep to clean the bumper and remove the wax.
