  1. These are never used Cordura front seat covers made for the 2007 Ford Edge. Extremely durable, they are custom made to fit the contours of each seat. Side airbags are unobstructed for safety. Bottom of seat cover is separate from back and is held in place with adjustable straps under seat. Back of seat cover is held in place by a Velcro closure that prevents any movement or slipping of cover. Head restraint covers are also held in place with the same type of Velcro closure. Large pocket on back of seat covers. These are very snug fitting foam-padded covers that look totally custom once they are in place. Asking $125 for the pair (plus shipping and insurance). My email address is pbmitch@cox.net
  2. The four vents together with tax totaled $180 purchased/ordered at my local Ford dealer. Each vent had a different price, strangely enough. It's worth it to now have control of air flow. The original vents were worthless.
  3. Replaced the four vents per your helpful instructions. Thank you! Worked out fine. I found that for the two outer vents bending the release tabs inward inside the housing after removing the louvers allows for easy removal. What a difference now in the airflow control. I highly suggest '07 and '08 owners to make this switch.
  4. I just did as you did last year and bought the four 2009 air vents for my '07 Edge. I read your post that changing them was pretty easy. How did you go about doing that? Do you have to remove part of the dashboard? I'd appreciate any help.
  5. I just picked up four 2009 Edge SE A/C vent louvres to switch out the vents in my 2007 Edge SE. The newer ones are a better design for directing air flow and allow you to completely close them off. Does anyone know what the procedure is for removing the old vents/louvres and installing the new ones?

Buyer pays for shipping and insurance. Will accept money order or cashier's check only. I am located in Carpinteria, CA (zip code 93013) and will ship anywhere in US.
  7. I had the same popping noise in two doors. Try spraying white lithium grease, just a small squirt using the little red tube in the spray nozzle, in the door hinges and a little in the door latches. Open and close the doors a few times to work it in. This cured the noise for me. Good luck.
  8. I think I figured out recently what causes the autolock and autounlock features to deprogram themselves in my '07 Edge SE. If the autolock and autounlock features are both "on" and working as they should and I change the Auto Lights headlights off delay (seen as "AL" on the odometer readout) to change the delay time for the headlights to turn off after exiting the vehicle, this action somehow deprograms the autolock and autounlock features. I can't figure it out. Now, however, I have something concrete to show the dealer that something is definitely not right. I discovered this recently and have tried it a few times and sure enough, it deprogams the locking and unlocking features. On my SE you change the headlights delay time by pushing the trip odometer stem that sticks out of the instrument cluster when the car is off and the key is in the Run position. It appears as "AL" followed by 10, 20, 30, 60 seconds etc.

  10. Has anyone else had a problem with Autolock and Autounlock? It seems the locking system in my '07 Edge will not hold these programs in the memory for more than a few days/weeks and then they deprogram themselves. I've taken it to the Ford dealer four times and they just can't figure it out. Last time they replaced the PCM module per Ford Helpline technicians, as all attempts to locate loose connections failed. They reprogrammed it and it has worked fine for three weeks, until yesterday it stopped working again. I know that I can reprogram it per the owner's manual, but something is not working right in the system. Any ideas out there?

  12. Our 07 Edge had the same clicking when we first picked it up. I took it in to the dealer and they replaced the shifter assembly. That took care of the click noise.
  13. Does the MKX have the same fuzzy weatherstrip on the outside of the four side windows as the Edge? I've found that on my Edge these angled fuzzy strips catch everything that blows up against them, from trees etc. Roll the window down while moving and stuff blows in the vehicle. Good old fashioned rubber weatherstrip would have been my choice. I wonder if these could be replaced? Any ideas?
  14. Congratulations to you and your wife. Very wise move cutting back on expenses at this point. Take care.
  15. We've had our Edge for three months now. I've noticed that the Edge's side window weatherstripping, at the bottom, has the fuzzie material on the outside of the vehicle and the tight fitting rubber strip on the inside of the car. I've never seen it reversed like this in any car. Kind of a drag when the fuzzie strip along all four windows fills up with debris/road dust, as it catches everything in the angled gap between the fuzzie strip and the glass. When you open a window and drive away the crap blows in the car. Whoever designed this at Ford needs a talking to. Maybe it was the same person who designed the center console a/c vents that can't be closed off or pointed upward. Wondering if all Edge's have this same reversed weatherstripping. Why'd they do this?
  16. After having the dealer's master mechanic personally handling my concern over the rough engaging/jerking of the tranny in 1st gear, I've been assured that there is nothing wrong with the tranny, that is, no error codes(EEC) are coming up. He even did a tranny pressure test driving the Edge for two miles in 1st gear to see if an error code came up, as recommended by Ford's tech support. No codes came up. He also checked that the build date of the tranny was after the 1-10-07 date, so Ford's TSB 7-5-2 relating to harsh engagement was not the answer. The master mechanic believes that what's occuring is that the new six speed trannys try to get the car in higher gears as quickly as possible to be more fuel efficient, and when creeping the vehicle may already be in second or third so I don't always feel the jerk associated with the very low 1st gear. But, sometimes the tranny may slip into 1st when under 5 mph and that's when the jerk is felt; specially in stop-n-go traffic or parking lots. Sounds very possible to me. Anyone have similar feedback from their dealer's mechanic on this issue?

  18. I've noticed occasionally while creeping in 1st gear, under 5 mph, in parking lots or stop-n-go traffic, that the tranny jerks the vehicle a bit with slight acceleration. Once 2nd gear engages, things smooth out. I had a master mechanic at my dealer ride with me today to check it out. He felt the slight jerking and assured me this is normal. Anyone else experience this occasionally in 1st gear?
  19. I had the same noise with my shifter. I took it in to the dealer and they said it was not normal. They ordered me a new shifter assembly and they installed with no problem. Noise is gone and the shifter feels more solid now. Go talk to your service dept.
  20. I took it to the dealer this week, had the transmision tech drive with me, but could not get it to do it for him. Frustrating. He checked out the 7-5-2 TSB that I had printed out and brought along. He called Ford's Hot Line and was advised not to do any repairs at this time. His EEC test showed no error codes. I was advised just to watch things for a while. I've read on this forum something about how the transmission has to learn your driving habits and adjust accordingly (?) Don't know if I understood this correctly, but I'm thinking maybe this has something to do with it. If anyone knows more let us know. I tried flooring the gas from a stop today to see if I could "teach" the transmission to smooth things out. After that, it stopped jerking. Don't know if it worked. I'll watch it over the next few days and report back here. I'm also wondering if increasing the warm engine idle a bit would help. Anyone know what the Edge's warm idle rpm's should be? It would be great if Ford sees this problem enough that they could issue a resolution to the dealer technicians. Other than this issue, I'm very pleased with my Edge.

    Hard Shift?

Is this happening when your foot just leaves the brake and you give a little gas? I've got an SE FWD that sometimes, not always, jerks a bit when I push on the accelerator a bit driving around parking lots or stop-and-go traffic on the freeway. This is like 3-5 mph or so. Feels like it's in low gear however when it does the little jerk, not 4th gear. I took it to the dealer this week, had the transmision tech drive with me, but could not get it to do it for him. 23. My Ford dealer just replaced the whole gearshift mechanism yesterday. They agreed that the clicking/crunch noise made while shifting out of park was not normal. The replacement shifter feels more solid and is silent.
  24. Just washed our two week old Edge today and got a little upset about something. While using Windex to clean what I thought was a dark smudge mark off the med. stone colored dash, I found paint was rubbing off onto my cleaning towel. The towel was light blue, so I could plainly see the paint rubbing off. The smudge mark was evidently the dark plastic dash under the paint showing through. Very disappointed to discover this and now I have a darker smudge area on the dash where the dark plastic dash is showing through. Just thought I'd warn other owners. The dash is a painted dash, not solid color throughout. Guess I have to buy a dash cover now, as I'm concerned about messing up the paint. The sun glare off the light colored dash is pretty bad anyway, so I'll get one of those covers. I really like this vehicle, but I hope I don't find more cheap quality surprises.
