  1. It's gorgeous!! I love the way that kind of black looks. I wish I could do that to mine, I'm too much of a sucker for anything sparkly and glittery so I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the tuxedo black metallic. I'll stick to admiring yours for now :P
  2. Apologies in advance if this is unrelated- but any chance that from here you can change the lighting on the gauges?? I seriously detest the green lighting! It looks so dated to me and completely clashes with the otherwise nice looking interior. My '03 Escape had green instrument lighting as well which I also hated, so I was really disappointed to realize come night time that my new Edge has it too! I don't understand the logic behind this- my dad has an '08 Mustang and it allows for the instrument lighting colors to be changed to any color as a part of the ambient lighting controls, but that's not the case with the ambient lighting feature on the Edge for some reason??
  3. If you're like me, you got the little Sirius information booklet in your glove box with all of the other paperwork, sans your account info and ESN because the salesman didn't write anything down. I was able to retrieve my ESN by calling Sirius and simply asking them. I've actually found their customer service to be rather pleasant and luckily haven't had anyone pushy. I accidentally let my free subscription expire but renewed when I got a letter in the mail offering a one year subscription at more than half off. I've since realized I could have avoided a phone call all together because if you just go to the 'media menu' while on satellite one of the options it gives you is to retrieve your ESN Let me know if you can't find it in your menu though and I'll go take a look at mine to see where exactly I saw that option...
  4. It sure is, it seems like my mileage is actually getting worse although I don't think my driving habits have changed. When I first got mine back in Feb I was getting 15 mpg, then 14, and as of now I'm down to 13 MPG, yikes. Some of it is also probably my fault, considering anytime I'm not stuck in city traffic I like to drive a little fast (I consider it necessary to compensate :yup:) I've tried granny driving but just can't do it, I'm too impatient so I'll pay the few extra bucks in gas to preserve my sanity. I'm definitely jealous of all you guys up there in the 20s range though! It doesn't look like I'll ever pull that off, at least not as long as I'm living here...
  5. as was my guess, the 11 front end can be swapped onto earlier models. needs a radiator support, hood, grill, fenders, valances, etc. any reputable body shop can do it. Its about 3700.00 in parts and labor, but if you wind up in a front end wreck which is cosmetic, it can be done.

  6. This is depressing, my Edge is only averaging 13.4 MPG according to the dash display Granted, I do live in Hollywood and only do city traffic driving and / or canyon driving through the hills, neither of which is particularly good on mileage. I also never do any highway driving, I don't even take the freeways since I live 5 miles from work. But even with such little mileage I'm still filling up at least once a week. I wasn't expecting it to be this bad, so hopefully it improves!
  7. Thanks for the advice krishtall, I was thinking the same thing unfortunately I also don't trust that they'll match the metallic black paint exactly either! So I'll just live with it. I only saw it happen that day while I was out and about, and then the next day at work when it was 115+ degrees here in LA. Luckily the rest of the time my Edge is parked in my little garage out of the sun so it popped back into shape by the next morning. Also, my dog already managed to scratch that top part of the rear bumper anyway the first time she hopped in for a ride in the new car, so I'm not particularly concerned with that area anyway  I guess I could always call them up for a replacement if it ever does start to bother me or get any worse. Out of curiosity, does this happen on model years other than 2010??
  8. Turned out to just be a mean, mean joke apparently Their website's product image was of completely black and chrome actual Ford emblems, but after talking to them I found out that the ones they'll send you are actually just plain old blue. Though they did try to talk me into them by saying they're a dark "kind of navy" blue. If anyone else has any luck getting the ones like wkevingossett has, please share!!
  9. So it's 105 degrees today in Los Angeles and I just noticed my bumper doing the same thing I actually came on here just to see if anyone else had this problem. Very frustrating for this to even be an issue, especially on a new car. I tried to photograph it without much luck, but you can kind of see it here: Excuse the dirtyness, I know she needs a bath :P As you can see, mine doesn't have the rubber protector thing so that's obviously not to blame. From everyone else's responses, it looks like I might be better off to just accept it and live with parts of my new car looking as if it's melting anytime it gets hot out here than trying to get my dealer to do anything about it...
  10. Thank you for the advice edawg, much appreciated. So you think what I described definitely warrants a trip to the dealer then? I know I won't be able to get them to replicate it, because I've noticed it only does it when the car is first started. The brakes only rumble for about 5 - 10 city blocks, coming to a complete stop at a stop sign or light every block. After that it feels like they soften up or something and I can't replicate it. Someone said something about them needing to warm up, but in any case that kind of rumbling does not feel right. Maybe I'll get my dad to come with me so they'll actually listen! I'm always completely shrugged off otherwise  I must have taken my Escape in at least 5 times after it was hit and "repaired" because I thought the CV joint where it was hit should have been replaced, was clunking and clicking at every turn yet they "never heard anything." While being serviced there two months later, they tell my dad it sounds like I've got a busted CV joint on that side and it looks pretty banged up, better get that fixed
  11. I have Sync 3.0 and just replaced my 3G with the iPhone 4 no problems. I didn't have any issue with the phonebook and the IP4, possible solution or reason being that I actually had accidentally turned off the autodownload option. Someone else over at Apple's forum also turned off autodownload, intentionally, after initially syncing his phonebook and now has no problem. Your contacts can always be synced manually after that whenever you feel like it needs it.
  12. Could you please tell me what it felt like when braking? I also have a 2010 and have been noticing my brakes feel 'rumbly' when coming to a stop. I don't feel it if I'm just slowing down for traffic or whatever, only when actually coming to a stop. I don't know how else to describe it, they don't squeal or anything they just kind of sound and feel rumbly, like lumpy rumbling uneven clunky-ness. Kind of how I would imagine it would feel to drive on wheels made out of lumpy crumbling squares instead of circles, that's how the brakes feel when stopping. Dumb analogy, but that's what it feels like! So, is that what yours felt like by any chance? Thing is, it only feels like that sometimes, I don't notice it if the car has been running for a long time. It's actually kind of like that sound and feeling you get when at a complete stop, you take your foot off the brake a little, but not enough for the car to actually move so it just starts to make that creaky rumble. Hopefully someone knows what I mean. If it's not at all the same then my apologies, I swear I'm not trying to hijack your thread
  13. I have a 2010 SEL with only 5k miles and also noticed that light was coming on and off on my way home one day last week. I was driving through the hills at the time, but I was going up the canyon and at less than 20 MPH because of some slow truck in front of me, so I'm positive none of my tires were slipping. No rain or anything either, it was a normal L.A. day, sunny 75 or so degrees. I drive the turns in that canyon at 40+ the rest of the time and have never seen it come on before or after that one time. It just started flashing on and off, first time I'd ever seen it so after a few minutes I hit the button on my dash to turn it on and off once or twice and it stopped. I mentioned it at my first oil change but was told that meant it was working, they pretty much assumed I was just a dumb girl and said it's supposed to do that on a windy road, nevermind any of the aforementioned facts. Let us know if you ever find out what it really is. If you don't feel anything different about the way it drives, it could just be an electrical glitch. My Escape had one where the airbag light on the dash was always randomly coming on and off with no rhyme or reason. Dealer would re-set the computer to no avail. Sometimes would go for days without seeing it, other times it'd stay on for the whole trip or come on intermittently for a few seconds or minutes, did it to the day I traded it in for my Edge.
  14. That sucks, sorry to hear about his Edge. I was devastated (okay, I cried!) when I scratched my brand new one on a stupid low retaining wall. Can't imagine how pissed I'll be at it's first accident! I too would love to know the answer to this question. I just bought a 2010 Edge less than a week before finding out they remodeled them for 2011! And it wasn't on year end clearance yet either, so I paid full price I still love mine, don't get me wrong, I'm just bummed my new car is going to the "old" model in a matter of weeks. Same exact thing happened with my Escape (Next time I'll go and almost-buy my new car, then go home and a wait a year. Or start leasing...) Anyway, can anyone please chime in as to whether or not ANY of the exterior parts of the 2011's will fit the 07-10 models? I wish I could get that new grille, but that'd be too good to be true I bet. It made me notice how much I dislike those empty gaps in the bumper under the grille the 07-10's have...
  15. (Sorry to bump such an old thread, but figured I'd ask here instead of making a new one...) I don't see the tinted overlays on patriotdecals either, does anyone know where to find them? (other than eBay please) I have a tuxedo black metallic Edge, so I'm thinking the front emblem, since it sits on the chrome grille, would look best in black / chrome and then the back emblem, on the black paint, would look best with a black tint. The Ford ones can't be made anymore but I really don't want the tacky (IMO) worded kind or a solid black hole. So I did some research and found a place that sells black / chrome Ford emblems (not decals) :D They don't list them for the Edge, but I read somewhere that they're the same size as the F150 emblems, which they do have. Can anyone confirm this? Depending on the size, their prices are $30 - $70 each. If interested just PM me for their site, I don't want them getting shut down before I have a chance to order! EDIT: I just noticed some discrepancy between their product image vs. the product description, so I've contacted them for clarification. Will confirm if they are infact the black emblems!
