Does anyone have their MFT just start playing the SDcard randomly on start? I will park with it on radio. Come back and get it and often it will bounce to SD card and start playing the first track.

 

Sometimes if i've set it to play an particular artist and park it like that...come back and it will randomly go back to shuffle the entire SD card.

I don't use a SD card but MFT will randomly pick a source from those available. It is a real pain. It's been bugging me for 2 years now

I got my iPhone 5. One thing I have noticed since is that MFT is SO SLOW compared to the iPhone 5.

Trying to enter a destination into the MFT is like using a 486 pentium compared to the responsiveness of the iPhone 5.

I honestly tried my best to except the slow response and use voice commands. Voice commands are no better. In preparation for a short trip, I sat in the garage trying to enter two POI destinations. Very frustrating!

When I did get a list of restaurant list narrowed down to 3, I had no idea which one to select because I couldn't see the address.

I can't imagine trying to do this with my "eyes on the road and hands on the wheel"

I've got a 2011 and from time to time my seat is unable to move forward. The dealership replaced the seat module but it has happened several times since.

Somebody gave me a tip on the forum to move the seat all the way forward and up. This seems to reset it's brain and allow it to function for a while.

Has anyone been able to get the integration with phone book and nav system to work? I continue to get "invalid address" error when I try to set a phone book entry as my destination.

If it isn't supported, they should remove the button.

I didn't really play around with it yet, just figured I'd try to repair and then when I did it no longer told me my phone wasn't supported when I went to messaging.

My iPhone 4s appears to support sms in MFT and lets me configure it but it doesn't send or recieve messages

no text messages over bluetooth with iOS6 on iPhone 4, just tested.

When iOS 6 beta was first released, I was surprised with a sms being read to me by MFT. It must have been after the next iOS update that the messages stopped.

I was going to test with the upgrade this morning.

Too bad they don't address the random audio source "feature".

The posting on the Sync community only mentions the clock.

Seems like Ford is draggin their feet with this MFT. How long did it take to put the clock back on the main screen? 6 months? ...and even then, they had to yank it.

I guess asking for the AppLink otption they announced 3yrs ago is out of the question.

Most likely they will discontinue support of this POS and hope it dies in it's sleep.

 

I can assure you that my next car will not be a Ford. I'm fed up with the failed promises.

It's been 2 years and it looks like Ford is still confused with this MFT.

The hardware is the same with the exception of the steering wheel controls...or at least that is what I read somewhere. Still don't know why they couldn't just replace whatever the buttons do with voice commands.

Before I purchased my 2011 2 years ago, Ford was saying that app link will be coming real soon to MyFord Touch. At that time, it was just a software update. No new buttons needed.

I didn't know there were two black options when i ordered my 2011 Limited. I got the Tuxedo and boy am I glad! I think the standard black sucks.

I guess it wouldn't make any difference if you never washed the car.

My klunk can at 25-30 mph and while excellerating. Dealership says the TSB is for it when it happens after a rolling stop. It hasn't happened again, I've had this Edge 3 weeks.

It can happen at 25-30. A 30mph "rolling stop" as in going through a toll gate will do it.

If your transmission meets the TSB requirements (verified by looking at the dipstick and mfg date) then tell your dealership that you want the TSB applied.

 

On mine, the klunk still happens from time to time but not like it used to.

Based on history, chances are that the outage is not related to an update.

 

I wonder if the update will address any other issues beside the outside temp.

Possibly a few tweeks to get it to work more smoothly with iOS 6?

Situation:

Outside temp: <80F, car has been sitting in the sun, so inside temp 90F+, Climate set to 68F on Auto.

 

HVAC blower will not go over 50%. Car takes for ever to cool off. Need to use "Max Air" to cool off car, but when I revert back Auto, temp setting stays at "LO" so I need to go the Climate Screen to set temp back to desired 68F.

 

If outside temp is >80F, then blower will go over 50% on Auto.

What on earth are the Ford engineers thinking?? What does the outside temp have to do with getting the inside of the car to the set point as quickly as possible? Every other car I own would go to full fan speed and recirc regardless of outside temp.

 

My GM cars also reduce fan speed when a call comes in. Really nice feature.

I really like the fact that the climate control can kick in full force and cool that car off. I don't like the fact that it works at the most odd times.

Getting in and starting the car is an adventure. Not only the MFT adventure but the climate control is sporadic.

When the cabin is scorching hot, the climate control can act anemic.

When the cabin is tolerable, climate control sometimes freezes me out of the car.

 

The algorithm used to kick the HVAC into MAX is flawed.

 

Oh. I also noticed the bug where the system will not go back to your auto temp settings when you turn MAX off.

Seems like a real silly question. But, this is the first car I have had with the "capless" fuel system. So, I went to pour the bottle in and it ends up running all over the ground............ How do you get the "flap" to open to get this in the tank?

My Edge has a plastic funnel that is stowed near the spare tire. Use it when trying to pour gas or whatever into the tank.

I got the run around when i complained about my tranny. The next time I went in, I had the TSB in hand. They ordered the parts and scheduled the fix.

The fix seems to have help. It's not perfect but it's a great deal better.

Wilson - I seem to remember you saying a long time ago that you don't keep cars long - might be time for you to give in and just sell - for whatever you can get. So that you can go back to being happy with a car.

You're right. I have a history of not keeping cars long. I had hoped this Edge would have changed that.

I like the Edge and have learned to put my blinders on when it comes to the Touch problems. That makes for a half-ass experience of driving a vehicle.

 

I bet when I get a new car it won't have My Ford Touch in it!

My wife's 2011 Durango has this and I don't like it as much. To make a call is a real PITA. It has far too many prompts and questions before it makes the actual call.

Uconnect is a broad term. Chrysler has used it for several years now. It's very hard to distinguish what features you have when a person says "Uconnect"

Just like Ford may still use "My Ford Touch" in the future. A buyer will need to be well versed to know what they are getting.

 

I hope the buyer of my Edge is not well versed. I can see the Blue Book value dropping a butt load because I have the "first gen" MFT.

It has certainly been a fiasco but there is no way they're "kicking it to the curb". They're already working on the next generation using Windows 8.

 

And I'm sure it will require a new, faster APIM with more memory (it is windoze after all).

I'm not saying there will not be other systems in the future.

I'm just saying that Ford will drop this version and move on to the future.

I have a 2011 edge ltd and the sync packed it in this morning completely screen blank, no camera, radio , phone ......... And on . I have had this car for about a year now and never had the sync work properly. I have it booked into the dealership to get this fixed.

 

My question is. Is there any hope in getting this issue fixed! Or is this a FORD LEMON

The whole Ford Touch system is proving to be a big mistake for Ford. I see them working on updates to the software for another year then they will throw it to the curb.

 

Did you update to the newest version? That will be the first thing you will need to do before they even consider replacing the My Ford Touch computer (APIM).

After reading everyone here, I just called up Sirius and cancelled.

 

I picked up my new '11 MKX on Oct 31, 2010. After my 6 free months of Sirius I subscribed for a year on May 2nd, 2011. I paid $210 total for Sirius Select + Traffic + Travel Link + tax, etc., which I now realize was stupid.

 

I recently received 2 e-mails from Sirius stating my subscription had expired. 11 months after I started my YEAR subscription. I checked thier website and was informed I could renew my existing plan another year for $248, which is over 15% increase over last year's price.

 

I came here and read everyone's comments which prompted me to call Sirius directly and not bother with the website. After 15 minutes of Muzak and automated sales pitches I was finally was able to talk to a customer service rep. I explained the situation and told him that I will not pay for:

 

A one-year subscriptions that only last 11 months,

A 15% increase for something I really haven't used that much in 1-1/2 years,

Pay $80+ per year for Traffic and Travel Link which I found didn't work very well,

A service that will cost me over double of what other people are paying.

 

I was put on hold for the obligitory 5 minutes while Customer Service "talked to thier supervisor". He came back with the "promotional deal" of $160/yr.

 

I told him that wasn't good enough and to cancel me right now. He put me on hold for another 5 minutes, and then came back to tell me I was sucessfully cancelled and that I owed them something like $7.25. I told him that they can bill me for it.

 

Pro Tip: I originally subscribed using a credit card (actually a debt card) that expired prior to my 11 months. That saved me from automatically overpaying even more for something I realized I didn't really use that much. It actually saved me this time.

 

I'm with Wilson; I will also be suprised if they last 3 another years.

so i bought my car in November and was almost immediately having problems with MFT (freezing frequently, black screen, disconnecting from my iPhone...) I called the dealer and they told me the update was going to roll out "soon".... well, 4 months later and i received my USB stick and SD card in the mail and upgraded!

 

I wasn't having any weird problems like before until i was sitting in my car for about a half hour listening to my iPhone via USB cable and the car turned off (you know, so ya don't kill the battery, not like i've EVER done that...) and then when i turned the ignition on, my car wouldn't reconnect to my iPhone... it was counting thru the song like it was playing but it wasn't... I tried thru the USB connection and Bluetooth. so i officially disconnected the iphone and then repaired it and it didn't work... so i gave up. and then the next day when i got in my car, it worked again.

 

does anyone know what the heck happened? does MFT hate the iphone?! well, i'm not getting a new phone anytime soon so i hope this is just a random glitch that MFT hates apple but i'm hoping someone has the answer to this? or anymore insight...

I've determined that the upgrade is mostly cosmetic. Yes, they changed the nav but it still shows me driving through corn fields from time to time.

The brains behind managing the connections to the phone (usb or BT) are still just as buggy as they ever were....the bugs just look different.

 

Ford really screwed this one up and can't find a way to fix it.

I bet MFT (as we know it) will not be in the next years models. The future is to use the owner's cell phone as the main processor and use the car to simply display/play it.

No traffic. He first quoted $1.99 per month for SiriusXM Travel Link. That equaled $23.88 for 12 months. I then said I wanted a discount on that because I was paying for 12 months up front. He then lowered it to $19.90( he took 2 months off).

 

So it sounds like the only difference between your price and my price is one month of the Travel Link - or $1.99.

I opted for the 24$/yr travel link a yr ago. I noticed that they dipped into my bank account and renewed it this week.

If I look at the Sirius subscription info on the Touch screen, I see all the travel link items green except the Traffic option. It's red and says I'm not subscribed to it. I don't used the traffic option (hell, I don't use any of the options cuz they hardly ever work) so I haven't noticed.

I'm going to call Sirius and cancel.

 

(My bet is that Sirius will be out of business in 3 yrs.)
