  1. Good to hear that the Edge is finally appearing in showrooms. We ended up letting our order go. After sharing a single car for 2 months and waiting for our SEL Plus to arrive, we decided it was time to move on. We even went to the dealer to work out a swap for our order with a retail, but, they could have cared less about selling us a car. We bought a fully loaded 2007 Toyota RAV4. It's an awesome car, and the price was less by a whole year's worth of payments. It lacks the BAMR (which all Edges on the showroom floor lack as well). However, the bluetooth phone integration is awesome. The brakes and fuel economy are awesome. Handling is great. The storage spaces are incredibly well thought. In all, there are some great cars out there that we never considered when we ordered the Edge back in August. Tired of Ford treating you like a second class citizen (i.e., in communicado [never a single status update from Ford], retail deliveries before customer pre-orders, no traces, no loaners)? Well, check out Toyota. They'll happily sell you a great CUV. And, I think Toyota may actually be doing more today for the US economy than Ford. The world is flat. Peace out. :yup:
  2. Breach of contract. Can he just hold your deposit forever? What if Ford gives you delivery date of July 2020? Take him to small claims court for the $500 plus interest. You'll win easily. Call your local news outlet. Call your area Ford dealer rep.
  3. LOL! What a joke Ford has become. Ford better hurry up - the 2007 Edge is going to debut on top of the 2008 model year if this continues. I'm going to buy another car, but, I'm not canceling my order. I want to take bets on how long it will actually take my pre-order to arrive. It will be worth losing the $100 deposit. I'd bet it takes 6-9 months after I placed my order. If I wait long enough, maybe my order will actually show up as an '08 Edge. Maybe the '08 will have bluetooth, HIDs, and rear camera options.
  4. A couple more weeks??? We expected delivery on Oct 16. A couple of more weeks is two months too late. The analysts on Wall St. are going to crucify Ford with another delay for their 2006 savior product, especially being the last CY quarter. Ford is in real trouble. The S&P just downgraded Ford's corporate debt to junk bond status. Ford management announced it will burn half of its cash reserves by 2009. Management is going to spend $17 billion USD through 2009 just to keep the lights on and doors open. These dire straights explain why the Edge is 2 months slipped. Management is all about execution. It you can't deliver the right product at the right price at the right time, a competitor (Toyota, Honda, Nissan) will. Inattention to execution explains the ridiculous choice to engineer Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) over anchoring it with 4-wheel ventilated discs. How can this CUV take longer to stop than an F-250? You can't fix stupid, and computer control can't make up for a mechanically flawed caliper/pad/rotor assembly. Moreover, lack of execution explains why the rags are reporting worse gas mileage than an Expedition EL. I love this country. I want Ford to prosper. Sadly Ford is its own worst enemy.
  5. Hey Guys, As mentioned before, I've decided to let my order go. I'm now negotiating for a Toyota Hybrid. Regardless, I just noticed today that Ford published the first financing incentive online for the Edge. FordDirect.com - 2007 Ford Edge - Get this promotion offer from your local dealer. Maybe this is good news, maybe it's just lack of coordination between marketing and production. Either way, Happy Thanksgiving! :yup:
  6. Braking distances are affected by more than just the tires. The suspension tuning can be significant. A harder setup will keep the nose from diving, thereby keeping the contact patch larger for the rear wheels. Moreover, the calipers, pad composition, brake fluid composition, and rotor swept area contribute to this. I went to great lengths to increase the stopping power on one of my cars. It takes alot more than just swapping tires to improve a 152 foot 60-0 stop. From what I've read, the reviewers are blaming lack of ventilated discs. I'm surprised that Ford would engineer an Electronic Brake Distribution system, only to leave out a simple mechanical feature like ventilation for the discs. For comparison, the Mazda CX-7 gets rave reviews for its brakes, which is generally credited to having both front AND rear ventilated discs.
  7. Same for us too! we are going out tomorrow and will either have a Toyota something or the Mazda CX-7 by Sunday. I just can't deal with this anymore... not even the delay (which I can partly understand) but the sub-par treatment and nonchalance by the dealer towards us. I'm over it all! Good luck to those that hang in there.
  8. We are in the same situation as everyone else on this post. Ordered a car with a ballpark delivery of October. Build date was supposed to be mid-October. Then quality problems caused all Vista Roof pre-orders to be delayed. Yet, I reluctantly agree that this is probably the right move long-term for Ford. However, Ford should be more pro-active in keeping pre-order customers happy. Given the marketing dollars spent to acquire a single customer, I'm surprised that Ford takes no interest in pre-order customers. These are people geniunely excited about a new product, and will evangelize it to their acquaintances. You can't buy positive word of mouth like that. Even a small token like a weekly status update from Ford HQ would demonstrate commitment. Unfortunately, we have been without a car for too long. We are forced to cancel our order, and purchase either a Mazda CX-7 or Toyota something this weekend. Best of luck to everyone with their orders.
  9. foxrun, you're a tool If everything was fine, then Ford would have started selling Edge models on the dealer floor back on Oct 16th. The reality is that no one has their order filled, and Ford can't commit to a ship date.
  10. Yep! I'm in your boat.. I have been driving a RENTAL for the last month while Ford keeps jerking me around. Not once have I gotten a straight answer or clear information about the ordering, building, or delivery of my car. I ordered my Edge Sept. 3rd. I was just told that I can take one of the dealer ordered cars instead of what I ordered because my car will not be built until JANUARY now because I ordered the Vista roof... ummmm but the one coming from the dealer stock (when it actually arrives) has a Vista roof. So does that mean that dealer ordered cars were built before customer orders or that my dealer never actually ordered my car or that Ford is really having a hard time with this. I grew up in a Ford family so it is very disheartening to be treated this way as I try to purchase my first Ford. And, it makes me wonder, what will it be like when I actually have the car? Heaven forbid something breaks and I ever need service! What avenues do I have other than go to a competitor at this point? I have decided to give it this week and the next (only because I will be out-of-town) after that, to Mazda or Acura I go. I read this forum every other day and I have not found one satisfied person yet. I don't know what to do either. I really tried to have faith in this car and Ford... I guess the losses they have been posting are for a reason. Sorry for the soapbox...
  11. Sorry.... forgot to mention that our pre-order was placed back in August. I could understand this if our order was after the advertising launch on Oct 16th, however, that's not the case here. You are correct that dealer will get some Vista roof units. According to dealer, however, pre-orders with the Vista roof will not be manufactured until start of 2007. Anyone else having this problem?
  12. According to some info gleaned from the Ford press releases for SEMA, looks like the system will be the Invision REVOLUTION III. Invision claims to be a dealer-installed product, however, you can find a dual-headrest package online for ~$1,800 USD.
  13. Our dealer relayed to us that our order with the Panoramic Vista roof option will not go into production until JANUARY!!! Is this true? Is there an assembly line retooling for units without the vista roof? Also, why does Ford build units to sit on dealership floors BEFORE building customer pre-orders??? Can't understand why our dealer is getting 3-5 random units before our order is ever built...
  14. Our dealer relayed to us that our order with the Panoramic Vista roof option will not go into production until JANUARY!!! Did you hear the same thing if you also pre-ordered an Edge with a Vista roof???
