The troubled Detroit automaker is pinning much hope for a turnaround from its current financial troubles on the sales success in 2007 of the new Edge crossover vehicle that it began shipping to dealers on Dec. 7. Also with much at stake is Ford's Woodlawn stamping plant which supplies all the major body sheet metal for the Edge which is assembled at Oakville, Ont. Paul Kosaian, the executive in charge of the local facility and six other North American Ford stamping plants, said the Oakville plant and its Western New York supplier share a relationship -- similar to one between Woodlawn and Ford's St. Thomas, Ont., plant -- that links their futures together.
