Rear Caliper Guide Pin Boot - not replaceable? HELP!

Recommended Posts

New here and could really use some help! First time doing brakes on a 2016 Ford Edge Sport. I believe mine is a 'Canadian' version, if that makes a difference.

Brake job was going smoothly until I decided to replace the Caliper guide pin boot (came with the brake kit, so I thought, why not?). I attempted to remove one, decided to rip the boot to get it out (since I had a replacement), but was met with what looks like a metal guide inside the guide pin hole. The boot was formed around the bushing, and I'm guessing it was pressed in place somehow.

The replacement boots are just rubber - no metal parts at all.

Right now it seems like my options are:
1. Remove the entire caliper, and push out the metal ring, and replace with a regular boot

2. buy a new caliper (it looks like new ones come with the guide bin boot already installed)

Appreciate your help!
