Intermittent Transmission Problem on 2018 Ford Edge 2.0L

My 2018 Ford Edge with a 2.0L EcoBoost is having an odd issue. While driving to work on the highway, I noticed a loss of power — the RPMs were maxed out, and it wasn’t shifting. When I stopped, it was still having trouble shifting. After I turned the car off and back on, it started shifting normally again and went through all the gears without any jerking.

About a week later, the same issue happened again. Today, it happened twice — once on regular city streets and once on the highway. No warning lights have come on, and when my local repair shop scanned it, there were no pending codes. Since the issue is random, they told me to keep driving it until it becomes easily repeatable. Every time this issue happens, I have to pull over or wait until I’m at a stoplight, then turn the vehicle off and back on for it to start shifting again.

Has anyone else experienced this or have an idea what it could be?

I am experiencing the same issue.  Did you ever determine what it is?

Turns out it had nothing to do with shifting or anything like that. The issue was a vacuum leak caused by a split hose under the plastic shield on top of the engine. Because the engine wasn’t getting proper vacuum, the electronic wastegate for the turbo was getting stuck open. Since the wastegate wasn’t closing properly, the computer was putting the vehicle into limp mode to protect the turbo and engine from damage. Once I turned the vehicle off and back on, the electronic wastegate would close again, restoring power.
