Is this a single module that pretty much Plugs and Plays? If anyone can tell me where I can get it from besides the dealer, that wants $699 ? raziel00 Posted April 7, 2007 Report Share Posted April 7, 2007 I also had a question on the Edge factory retmote start/alarm. Our dealer told us that he could install the series 100 remote start (keeps the original key and you get a small remote separate from the key to remote start the vehicle), but would NOT recommend that we install the series 200 remote (completely separate remote and key, key does not have integrated lock/unlock functions). The reason he gave us is that the key which comes with the series 200 remote would NOT be able to be programmed to start the car. He told us he could sell us the 200 series and that everything would work except starting the car -- the key could not be programmed to start the car and we'd have to keep the original key. Said Ford was moving to this type of key and that the Fusion (and some other model(s), but don't remember which) have the same problem. Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone else been told this by their dealer? Does anyone by chance have the 200 series remote/security system installed on their Edge? BTW -- the dealer had the brochures prominently displayed for the Ford remote start systems, and the brochures do not mention any restrictions in regard to what models it apples to.
