I have a similar whine, I found if I turn off the heat/ac system/blower the sound goes away.

You do know those buttons are not available while the vehicle is moving, right?

Contact your local dealership, ask for the service department. Ask the service man- who's the local radio shop in your area that handles the factory authorized repairs. Call that shop and they can answer ALL your radio questions. I had some radio questions and that's what I did.

n The OEM radio is connected to the onboard computer. If you remove it the steering wheel radio controls will no longer work. you will also lose SYNC.

I sat down with my salesman, looked through a book with all the 2008 Edge info in it, and placed an order. Here's the deal on 2008 Edge's: Ordering began July 16, Scheduling for the 2008 Edge build begins August 16, and production on the 2008 Edge begins September 17. Perhaps your salesman, over at Podunk Ford Inc. should read up on what's going on.

I ordered my 2008 Edge Limited last Tuesday (July 17). The build doesn't start until September 17.
