  1. [ No, they rebuilt it, took 5 days to get all the parts
  2. It is definitely the leaking PTU seals. Have you checked under the car, you should have some oil stains. Take it to a new dealer and tell them that this is the problem and that they should fix it now. It is a simple fix and should be covered by warranty. Our dealer took care of it for us quickly and efficiently Good luck
  3. I believe your problem is the transmission valve body. The valve body is the control center of the automatic transmission. It contains a maze of channels and passages that direct hydraulic fluid to the numerous valves which then activate the appropriate clutch pack or band servo to smoothly shift to the appropriate gear for each driving situation. Each of the many valves in the valve body has a specific purpose and is named for that function. For example the 2-3 shift valve activates the 2nd gear to 3rd gear up-shift or the 3-2 shift timing valve which determines when a downshift should occur. This problem occurred in our Edge. I took a week to repair because they got the wrong parts. Good luck
  4. For town driving my wife gets 18.9 mpg, she goes about 15 miles on country roads with stop signs, traffics lights and of course the ever present commuter slow downs as the local traffic makes its way out to 128. Hell I got 17 mpg today hauling a 19 foot power boat 35 miles through the center of 5 MA towns on route 16. On the Hi-way we get about 25 mpg, we just crossed 8000 miles.

    MPG??????

2007 Edge AWD, SEL +, BAMR. 5000 Miles On a recent trip to Philly from greater Boston, we got as high as 26 mpg at 70 mph, then we hit the 6 lane to 3 lane merge traffic on the NJ TP and dropped to 23 mpg. Over all the combined milage for the trip was 22 mpg which included 1.5 days of city driving. Not bad, I think we finally got the engine broken in.
  6. We recently has a little storm that caused many of the major roads in the Boston area to slow to a halt for various and sundry reasons. In response my wife took all back roads home from work in her Edge. She stated that she has never felt so secure and stable on snow/ice covered roads than in her Edge(AWD). Our old Escape was good, but this was in a another league. I took it for a little jaunt during our most recent snow event and would concur that the vehicle indeed performs well on snow and ice covered roads. So far the Edge performed as we had hoped; tows our boat in the spring and fall, great highway cruiser for familiy trips and safely get's through the a good old fashion New England snow storm.
  7. Just saw a picture of a monochromatic treatment of the MKX and was wondering if anyone has seen an Edge treatment where the Grill is the same color as the car.
  8. I am 6'2" and my wife is 5'6" and for us these our the best headrest we have ever used in an auto. Most are too far back for me, I wouldn't change them one iota. That not to say that they would be perfect for everyone. Because all people are different, Ford should include some tilt adjustment in the next iteration. My audi has that adjustment in the head rest.
  9. How many SAV from BMW's have said engine in the US? I believe that would be none
  10. Our Edge towed my 19 ft Eastern CC with no problems, this brake issue in a smoke screen from what I can in real world driving experiance. I have an Audi with boost but I prefer the smoothness of V6. There is no replacemnt for displacment (yet). To each his own.
  11. If you need to haul anything bigger than a lawn mower, you will need the Edge. A discounted the CX7 in my search because it has no towing capacity. In addition, you need premium fuel to get the HP out of the turbo four. I agree that the CX7 is not in the same catagory as the Edge, you have to ask yourself what do you need the car to do.
  12. Over the years I have noticed it on every car I have owned. Maybe because I live in a area where we drop below the dew point at night often. My Audi does it some mornings as well as the Edge.
  13. Let's us know about some of the comments you get while driving around, I am sure that I am not the only one curious about the reception the Edge gets in Germany. By the way nice color. Enjoy your time the autobahn, it sure beats the 80 mph which is about the most of any us will ever see.
  14. You can't make up for lost profit by selling an exciting new product that people want at deeply discounted prices. The key to making money is selling cars that people must have. Buying a car for most people has some degree on irrationality built in. The key for financial success is to light the fire so that it doesn't come down to dollars and cents. Anyway, hope you enjoy your Edge when you get as much as we have enjoyed ours so far.
  15. If you wanted the big rebate you should have gone for the 07's. If I was FMC I would hold out on the rebates until all the 07's are gone. I bought a 07 two months ago and got the 2K, we are still very happy. My wife doesn't even want to drive my A4 Convert. pictor
  16. AWD in MA, Winters and boat towing made it a must. Last year wasn't so bad, but you never know. Pictor
  17. We have a summer place on an island in Casco Bay, Need a boat to get there from the mainland so hence the need to have 3500 lb towing capacity. A lot of bigger auto could do the job but the Edge has the right combination for us, daily commuter for my wife and weekend hauler for the trips to Maine (~150 miles each way). If would be nice to live in Maine, but the jobs aren't there, that why we bought ourselves a summer place.
  18. The sticker comes off this weekend, more tasks than I have time. The metal hoops are for clay pots for plants. The heat of the summer has done it's damage, the plants have turned to cinders. My wife will replant with fall plantings soon.
  19. Here it is in all it's glory
  20. We just got our Edge this week, brakes work just fine. We needed a vehicle to confortably transport a family of four (two teenage girls) to Maine on the weekends as well as tow a couple of boats back and forth in the the spring and fall. We looked at the same choice of vehicles, plus the Mazda CX9. If came down to a choice between the Mazda and the Ford. In the end the following consideration won out. 1. BAMR 2. Ford X Plan price 3.Dealer Convenience My wife said that it was BAMR that made the Edge special. With the sunshades open, there are few cars that are as pleasant to ride around in especially in this price range. WIth the roof open the feeling of open air driving is there, certainly not like driving in our Audi C4 Conv, but still enjoyable. If you want to get the Edge you might consider requesting and X Plan PIN on this Forum. By the way, the X plan option made this our best car buying experience ever Just my opinion, have fun with the search
  21. No, it was carbon. As for the rebate, it did deem to increase over the week I was searching for the car. I think the final 500 was a dealer incentive. Good luck in finding what yoy want, we love our new Edge
  22. Purchased a 2007 SEL+, BAMR, Tow package, Cargo Management, Rubber mats, Audiophile, Sirius and Reverse Sensing. MRSP 34115 Invoice 32344 Xplan 32289 Rebate 2000 Price Paid 30289 + Sales Tax+ MA Registration Fee One very happy buyer
