  1. Yes I've seen the "wood". It just doesn't suit me.
  2. Hi guys, So as I wait for my order, one of the things I asked the dealer if they could do was replace the wood grain panels on the front dash with the Silver ones from the SEL/SPORT. My first question is, are they decals are panels that can easily be changed? If they're not decals, anyone with a SEL want to trade panels in the Toronto, Ontario area?
  3. I have the same problem in the morning - Until I have my coffee I simply don't function correctly.
  4. Easy to find problems with any single car out there. Here's a forum full of issues on the VW: http://www.mytiguan.com/index.php?/forum/41-problems-bugs-fixes/ If you base your decision on that, you'll never buy a car period. No one has invented the perfect car. If you want to compare the Tiguan though, I can tell you brother picked his up on July 29th (2010). Its been back to the dealer six times, the transmission already replaced. All cars have problems, I doubt the Ford Edge will have more than most. With respect to BT issues, most of them are IPhone. Don't buy an IPhone and you avoid many of those issues. Even still I'm sure the majority of issues (as well as new ones created) will be solved through software updates.
  5. What are you guys plugging into your cars that are draining your batteries? I once left an IPod hooked up and charging into my nissan for 13 days, and it started no problem. I think if your battery is dying to a 2 amp device, its time for a new battery.
  6. I ordered from SimplyTyre a local place I've dealt with years. They're near Steeles/Keele area.
  7. I just ordered 4 Gislaved Nordfrost 5 (17") tires with Steel wheels & TPMS sensors installed for $ 1160 CDN all in. These are supposed to be excellent tires.
  8. I picked up a White Limited 2WD with: - Rubber Mats - Adaptive Cruise - Canadian Touring Package - Vision Package - HID Lights - Driver Entry Package I got it for $ 36,685 + HST ( $ 41,454.05 on the road ) Dealer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
  9. Wow! This is good news for me. I actually ordered mine on Sept 30th, but I don't really want it until January. The lease on my current car is up in January, but I ordered to take advantage of the employee pricing. If the new one is delayed that's better for me. Sorry to hear its taking you so long - but have become very popular I guess?
  10. Canuck - you're right AWD does provide "SOME" additional safety. I think the problem is people get confused and prioritize AWD over proper winter tires thinking it is better. The improvement in safety you get from AWD in Winter driving conditions is perhaps being 2x better than 2WD - on the other hand good Winter tires can make a 25x improvement to safety. This is where I think MANY people get confused, and spend money on the AWD system but then skimp on the tires and keep all seasons. If you have the money, GET BOTH - it is safer. If you have to sacrifice due to finances, sacrifice AWD over Winter tires if your climate dictates. You will have a safer car, and end up spending far less money. Another point to keep in mind, all season tires wear quickly in the winter. So the supposedly extra money you are spending up front, really just saves you money down the road on replacing your all seasons. Essentially the extra money on the winter tires is minimal, and just the cost of the rims.
  11. I was almost about to buy a Honda CRV when I saw the Edge. I have to say I was impressed by the CR-V's cargo Cover. I wish something similar existed for the Edge.
  12. I often need to leave my computer in the trunk of my car. I just ordered a new 2011 Edge Limited. The cargo cover that Ford provides does not really suit my tastes... I will also be doing a lot of moving the seats up and down. Has anyone found a decent cargo cover that's quick to remove and mount?
  13. I noticed on your signature 2010 Edge Limited. Can't help but feel your insight may be linked to the fact you just bought the outgoing model. Can first year models sometimes have MORE problems: YES Can first year models sometimes have LESS problems: YES Fact is every year the assembly line undergoes changes. Manufacturing process is sometimes tweaked daily, and could result in defects, or the reduction thereof. Some assembly workers agree the by month 2 of production, the process of building the car is followed to the T, and that only when production gets ramped and do they sway from their normal QC process they begin to introduce more assembly defects (as opposed to design defects). I have news for you, by the time the QC engineers even have locked down that there is a design defect they're already half way through the 2013 model year. You going to wait around for the perfect car? Fact is if a company has a reputation of addressing issues, they will do it whether you have purchased the car or not. In addition, things have changed. So many of the design issues can be addressed with software or firmware fixes, which was once impossible. For example, are you aware that the Ford Edge with adaptive cruise control can actually be hacked to incorporate the Stopping feature included in most new Volvo's? Its the identical system with some minor firmware modifications to change how the car responds to the triggered alert. Anyways if you like the car, and trust the company to stand behind it buy it. If you're afraid of it not being perfect, then buy a used car with a proven record. Any new car can have both design, and assembly defects no matter how long how long a given model has been out.
  14. I just ordered my Edge and take delivery in November some time. I'll be extremely unhappy if my $ 40000 truck can not accomplish the same level of playback as my 4 year old $99 Pioneer bluetooth head unit. A2DP streaming is a standard that works fine. I have a Galaxy S loaded with podcasts that sync themselves, and I'd hate to have to keep plugging the phone in and not be able to use the Bluetooth controls. Using a touch screen and non-tactile feedback to change tracks, play/pause, etc... is dangerous.
  15. Waldo is correct - AWD is not a safety feature. Arguably it's the opposite. It creates a false sense of traction, where traction is in fact limited. It's important to be in tune with the road conditions, and to that end noticing some wheel slippage when you accelerate is an excellent indicator that you will encounter the same when you attempt to stop. 2WD is better on gas, and less likely to break down as its a more simplified system. There are limited circumstances where AWD/4WD will get you out of a stuck position, however that's about all the benefit you will see. In fact I laugh as I see people spend $ 1500 + gas + additional maintenance on the AWD system to better handle snow... yet leave on All season tires. Winter tires improve your traction more significantly then AWD on its own (yes AWD + Winter tires will help you get going even better of course). If snow is truly your concern, use the $ 1500 you save on a great set of winter tires. You will not only avoid getting stuck, but more importantly you will be able to STOP!
