  1. Yeah I had come across that a while ago as well. I signed up but haven't heard boo.
  2. All the more reason to get extra developers involved. Microsoft learned this lesson a long time ago. I guess they also run the risk of us pointing out major security flaws too....
  3. So I've had my Edge now for almost 1 week. I'm super impressed with how well it works with my Milestone & Touch Pro 2. All I can say to FORD is hurry up with the Developers kit. I quite a few interesting idea's brewing, and I'd love to see what I can push out of the hardware. You guys wanna start dominating the market Apple style, support the the Application developers. Is anyone aware of a developers forum?
  4. Mine was built on the 17th of November and I took delivery of it on Saturday (the 20th - I live in the same town it's made). Here's the Sync details: Sync VersionSYNC GEN 2 Confirmed installations BT4T-14D546-AG BT4T-14F496-AG BT4T-14F497-AG SYNC compatible software BT4T-14F603-AG
  5. My 07 Nissan Altima is impossible to lock as long as the keys are in the Cabin. I would imagine the Edge is the same if you have the Driver Entry package?
  6. Figured out your problem for you. I don't know why Ford just doesn't point out the glaring problems in the IPhone bluetooth stack. Try upgrading your IPhone to 4.2, there's widespread reports that the bluetooth stack has been somewhat improved.
  7. I've convinced myself this $ 20 TPMS reset tool is a Unicorn. Not to be found in real life. Anyone had any luck locating it?
  8. Apple IPhone's are bad. The sooner you realize and accept that, the better your life will be. You should be on the Apple forums complaining about why Apple can't follow industry standards. Then go out of there way to change connectors on future generations, screwing anyone who has an older phone.
  9. What is it that they're demonstrating that the Edge doesn't do?
  10. Does anyone who actually has possession of their vehicle see the "SOLD TO" information filled out? Mine is still being assembled and is blank, does this eventually change when it leaves?
  11. Good NEWS!!! I found a way to enable our lovable Microsoft Office friend CLIPPY on sync! Clippy says: It looks like you are trying steer your car into a ditch, would you like some help with that?
  12. Well from what I can see technically, Apple's Bluetooth stack is not 100% to Spec. Now I'm flying a little blind with Ford, but I suspect that Microsoft is using their Windows CE bluetooth stack which was developed in majority by Broadcom. Broadcom for those who don't know makes 80% of the bluetooth chips out there, so they know there stuff. Anyways Apple is known for having numerous bluetooth issues, and if they didn't have the market share that they did almost no devices would work with the IPhone. The fact is manufacturers have to specifically dance with Apple to get anything to work right with an IPhone because Apple does not properly follow standards. In addition they are not transparent about it. As much as I'll knock Microsoft about trying to make their own standards, they won't necessarily call stuff to a spec unless it actually tries to follow it. Honestly folks, Apple should be punished for this type of thing - because it hurts industry innovations like Sync as a whole. It slows down the market, and doesn't allow us developers to just build things. Instead we waste time dancing with BS licence agreements and the sort, which time that can be spent innovating and working out bugs. This is why I stopped developing for the IPhone, and have moved to Android. I may also consider Microsoft if they change their Developer agreements, and allow side loading of applications. Bottom line: Punish companies that are not open and do not make it easy for developers & competitors to make neat things for their platforms!
  13. Bah IPhone... Glorified piece of hardware that does not follow industry standards. Then users blame everybody but whom they should be blaming - Apple. I've been hearing this crap since the Apple IIc... Get over it people Apple is the biggest Teflon coated company out there when it comes to addressing issues. You're HOLDING IT WRONG! My suggestion to anyone considering an IPhone... Look elsewhere, unless Apple is selling you the product to go with it you'll get nothing but grief. They'll go out of there way to make sure it doesn't interoperate with something that they're not getting a piece of the pie of.
  14. Okay, I think I get this. So its actually the truck that needs to be reprogrammed to deal with the different set of sensors. Where do I buy this tool from? What is it called? Thanks!
  15. YOU SIR ARE A STAR! Yes it does help me! If its a one-time setup on my spare rims, that means no extra work for me switching it out each winter. So the extra set of sensors is worth it.
  16. Well now this is an interesting question. I'm also in Ontario and have ordered tires with TPMS sensors already. I take delivery of my truck within the next 2-3 weeks. One thing I did find out about the TPMS sensors is that its a new "Valve stem" style system, not the bands like the 2010 Edge. If this requires recalibration... I'm not going to bother with the sensors. The whole point to getting rims & sensors is so I can swap the tires on my own. Now my winter RIMS will be 17" and the factory ones are 18" ... does this affect things? Can anyone confirm these details for the 2011 Edge?
  17. This! Seriously, how hard is this to do? Seems baffling to me that they could leave this out.
  18. I once heard from my Acura dealer that I should not change the oil prematurely. He claimed there where additives to the oil to assist with engine break-in - removing the first batch of oil early could affect the engine break-in. He was a sales guy, so I don't know how accurate it is....
  19. Sounds like the hotspot works in Adhoc mode rather than infrastructure mode. If this is the case, you're not going to be able to hop from device to device. Once I take delivery of my truck I can give you guys more details. I'm dying to get the developers kit for sync as well.
  20. I think it's unfair to call that buried - seems fairly clear to me anyhow. More importantly as a developer, I'd prefer instead of handing us yet another cheesy web-browser that they invest that time in developing a very robust API. I'm dying to write an app that will turn on the rear camera and record the video for 5 mins after the proximity sensor detects a close-call or impact. Just the threat of that technology alone is going to get a lot of people to reconsider hit & runs.
  21. I'm also a member of the general public. I don't know what your buying experience was, however when I purchased I had brochures and a web-site that clearly stated the cars features & specs. Most importantly, I waited until I could test drive the car and verify it had the features I wanted/needed. My first test drive Sync was not available as they did not properly initialize it. So when they asked if we could work out an offer, I simply replied "after I can try out sync". If you're the gadget geek you claim to be, you should be aware from years of history that you never get everything in 1.0. How many years did it take Jobs to include something as simple as copy & paste in that running calamity called IPhone? That was actually promised by the CEO with a specific time-frame that was not met. Hey sorry you're having buyers remorse - but in my opinion it was preventable. The Edge is an excellent truck, with loads of features and I'm sure it will continue lead in innovation for years to come. Quite frankly, most of the features you're wanting are available on your phone anyhow - use it in the interim. I'm sure Ford will continue to extend and expand Sync while the other makers play catchup.
  22. AT FORD: QUALITY IS JOB1!!!! Sorry I had to!
