  1. I did not know the "press and hold" to FF/RW...that is cool info. I don't think you can change the default home...it always picks the "middle" option. To see wallpapers, you need to press home, then "top" home option. I think if you do not have "auto" selected when you turn the car off, it remembers the previous manful settings when you restart (I will confirm this).
  2. I had to "downrez" some pictures to get it to show once uploaded to the Car. I found somewhere an optimal resolution noted in the docs. If you load a picture that has too many pixels, it will display as black screen. :stats:
  3. I have had my 2011 LTD for a little over a week. I love how it drives and there are a ton features I have become enamored with (MFT, adaptive cruise, BLISS to name a couple). :happy feet: On the Nav, I have not found that you can download routes as you note (if you can post a link/instructions, that would be great). I have never had a car with Nav before, so I have no comparison, but here is what I know. With the features that I think are tied to Sirius, you can locate Points of Interest (POI) such as a park and such. The Nav systems has a great "3D-ish" view that actually shows major POI buildings (I was in downtown Denver and Coors Field (Rockies stadium) was a big 3D land mark on the map. Great traffic features that have already helped me avoid traffic. Better than my Google maps app on my iphone. Great voice activation features. Very nice feature with next direction able to show on the right dash mini-LCD next to speedometer. It uses your contacts as you are setting destinations (via voice) if you ou have as contacts address uploaded, it will zero in on that saving you time on destination entry. I have yet figure out how to say "Destination, Mom's House" (assuming Mom's House is a contact) to set a destination and had to build destination manually via voice (driving) or key entry (if not moving). So far the Nav helped me find some back street short cuts on routes I have been driving for years that saved me some time. I did have the Nav lock up and cause a Windows error in the Myford Touch this weekend, but it rebooted itself and kept my destination in memory....once it rebooted it kept my route going. I will assume pending software patches should stabilize...but Sync is a Microsoft product so I am a little skeptical and await a Blue Screen of Death someday (kidding..mostly). Note: lock up did not impact car performance or handling, simply entertainment and nav were down for a few minutes (climate still works via console buttons).
  4. I have had my 2011 LTD Edge for about 5 days now, so not a good sample period, but I wanted to chime in that I have not in over 15 years had fun driving a car until now. I do not regret my choice at all. I have had no problems to speak of, but for iphone related BT (I blame Apple as the BT is uber-flakey on the 4...but it does stream which is all I ask so my kids can watch a movie on it in the back seat and hear it via the car's sound system). I find the interface is brilliant and once you get the settings where you want them, and just "use it", it is simple and effective. I also find the MFT true to the press: It does NOT add to diver distraction. I used to fumble with my iphone (i.e. trying to look at the google maps to find Starbucks or something) or with my old Kenwood stereo (which had Bluetooth too) as I drove and now I do not. I am more focused on the road. I actually get a bit giddy getting ready to drive to and from work. I am sure it will wear off and this will become just normal transportation, but for now I feel like a teenager who just got his license (so hopefully the adaptive cruise will keep me out of trouble). So don't fret or pre-regret as I feel confident you will be satisfied with your 40K plus car. Let us know after you get it!
  5. This list is REALLY out of date. iPhone 4 is not on it. I just today got my 2011 Edge with MFT (which is awesome :happy feet: ) but the Bluetooth is very bad . The phone aspects work, but contact photo's don't port as noted above. In addition the Bluetooth audio BARELY works. You can only select music, etc from the phone interface directly and use the MFT intervace pause/skip. The media data will not "index", artwork does not transfer, etc. It basically just plays and you need to fumble with your phone to change/browse media. Lastly, the iPhone 4 does not work with the text message feature ( :finger:boo ). I basically have to connect via USB to get optimal control via FMT of my media. This makes my iPhone very sad as it is being treated like a basic iPod. If any Ford Engineers or Marketing People monitor these forums: I love my Edge LTD. Best car ever owned. The iPhone is one of the best selling smart phones, so PLEASE PLEASE update the software to work with the iPhone better so all the cool features your sales materials show actually will work for customers. :shades:
  6. Update: I just today got my 2011 Edge. OMG I love this car. Odd thing: I tried to hit the flasher with my palm and could not do it easily. Not sure if the LTD (I test drove an SEL) has slightly deeper LCD screen (it seemed slightly more set back into the console than I remembered) but I could not get my palm to hit the flasher as I recalled int the test drive. So I retract this complaint and just love my new LTD more than I thought I would. Ford Edge 2011 FTW. A lot of cool little things I found that I missed test driving: Got to see ambient lighting at night (which strangely very cool!), the "little white strip light things" on the front bumper when you open the door, the "edge" etched in the turn signal lights on the front, the little "cubby/tunnel" thing to put stuff in under the center panel, the little clips for paper under the flip up, just to name a few. My only real complaint at this point is that the Bluetooth audio with my iphone 4 is not very solid: no images with contacts transfer, no album art, and cannot even browse/select content (it won't index). I will research on the forums....
  7. I just spent a month trying to find the right crossover for me. This reminded me why I hate buying a car...it is a HUGE time sink (and my time is precious these days). The biggest take away I had was there is no crossover that had exactly what I wanted, which would have been something like a Honda Crosstour sedan-style crossover with better looking grill, hybrid engine, a high-end luxurious interior and MyFordTouch! But that said, my decision ended up with a 2011 Edge LTD after whittling down the field to about 5 cars....and it beat out the 2010 Lexus 450h (without considering the cost/value difference either). Here is why: [*] Sales person was an arrogant snob [*] Ford Sales person was awesome, knew her stuff, and knew how to deal with people in a laid back and patient fashion. [*] Lexus Dealership was SO over the top in what it cost to outfit the place, it makes you know a huge chunk of the price covers the marble tile showroom and marble bath room. [*] The 450h did not get THAT much better gas mileage than other cars, especially the Edge on the highway. [*] Interior was luxurious, but the console and instrument panel was still outdated old-tech feeling. [*] The Edge LTD interior only felt a hair less luxurious IMHO and the MyFordTouch was bleeding edge console tech (I still cannot believe Ford has leapfrogged everyone on console technology). [*] My test drive buddy (and Lexus owner) and I agreed that the Lexus was noisier on the highway (more wind noise) than the Edge. [*] Handling felt tighter with the Ford on quick swerves and maneuvers. [*] Acceleration felt stronger. [*] Dumb as this is, I could not believe the Lexus did NOT have the flip down sunglass holder by the rearview (no sunglass holder anyway). I just love that feature that is stock on almost every car you drive. [*] Ford = Did not take bail out money and Toyota/Lexus = rumor has it Japanese government helped them out. I want to put my money in the pocket of American company not owned by the tax payers. [*] Toyota/Lexus did not handle the stupid acceleration issue well (nor did Apple with the iPhone Death Grip but that is another thread for another forum) Anyway, just thought I would share this as I did not see a Lexus comparison thread and the decked-out Edge LTD or Sport starts getting CLOSE to the starting price of a Lexus so I thought this may be helpful to someone. Now if my Edge would just show up at the dealer! It seems lost in transit as I patiently wait......
  8. Happened 5 times on the test drive to my passenger as he played with the touch screen while I was driving. Small issue/design flaw to deal with and unfortunate you have to learn not to rest your palm where it would naturally rest to operate a touch screen. But still ordered a LTD despite this small annoyance!
