    Copper Edge in Phoenix

    My new edge
  2. From the album: Copper Edge in Phoenix

My favorite Edge pic so far.
  3. Good_Hands: "Spring Tease." You're sharp today! :shades: No more teasing-- Before: After: (Notice the front-window tinting...to 35%.) The rear looks a little lower in this pic than it looks in person; I think it's the outline of the tire. I still haven't noticed any worsening of the ride--maybe because I'd rather not notice any. Someone creased my LF fender this morning in a parkinglot. Didn't notice it until much later. Here's my favorite Edge pic so far.
  4. sranger: "An honest man.... I like the way you worked through the droning problem. It looks like first class work..." TY. Mighty Muf'ler has been doing the exhaust-system work of fussy Phoenix-area enthusiasts for decades. A week or 2 later, I'm still happy with the sound.
  5. The springs arrived from Tire Rack (only $234 plus shipping) yesterday and my goodbuddymechanic said bring 'em over! So I did and we installed them. Unfortunately he got started so quickly I couldn't measure the 'before' height, but the Edge appears to be down about the 1-1/2" H&R claims. Will post pics this afternoon.
  6. The Ford recommendations are 35 front and rear. It makes NO sense to me to have tires that are loaded with substantially different weight--my AWD model has c. 1290 pounds on each front tire or 37% more than the rears' c. 940 pounds each--inflated to the same pressure. I also feel that the 35 is Ford's concession to soft ride, so I use 37 front and 33 rear, cold.
  7. You'll need just those $17 straps. The sensor and holder ("cradle") are reusable. I wired mine on with stainless-steel safety wire. I use that Hankook in 295/45-20 on my Porsche Cayenne Turbo, but I choose the General grabber UHP... ...for my Edge.
  8. How do we vote in this poll? ----------------------------------- AWD. I don't like the torque steer of FWD cars, and AWD always has better traction.
  9. irod, be sure to see an Edge and test it yourself before commiting to anything. I sure love mine, but everyone's different.
  10. Just measured mine. With the RF seat bottom all the way forward and with the seatback at a sort-of-normal rake, the distance from the rear of the seatback to the rear sill is 77", FWIW. What specifically is a 'trike'?
  11. gnaible: "Does the Edge have tire pressure monitors?" Indeed, as standard equipment.
  12. If caramel's wheels aren't available, mine are. Original nuts included but NO tire-pressure monitors. I'm in Phoenix, AZ. E-mail me directly at jeffreybehr@cox.net if you're interested.
  13. I retrieved mine 1500 miles from home and started FM calcs upon arrival. The trend is definitely upward--the CUMULATIVE miles-per-gallon numbers after each of 4 tanks are 13.5, 13.8, 14.9, and 15.0. This is mixed local and freeway with the AC ALWAYS on. Total miles are about 2300, about halfway to its 2nd oil-and-filter change. I'd still like to replace that grille, but not with Precision's billet grille after seeing pics of it/them here.
  14. 007, my shit is together, and I already knew they were made in Korea. I regret mixing your question with the at-best-inane statement of the original postist, dbe.
  15. Indeed. Well said. All that stuff, along with chromed light-alloy wheels and white stitching on black leather, is just garish to me.
  16. Ahem...ever do your own research? http://www.hankooktireusa.com/ "I think that the dealer that sold me my Edge replaced the tires from the factory and put on cheap ones. I think that they are doing it to others too. I'm sure they are selling them to the LOYAL costumers who come in for new tires." You seem to be quite cynical and you seem to jump to totally unjustified conclusions. Why?
  17. Rockfish, I think I understand your position on the Edge's brakes. I too feel that excellent brakes are important to not only the feeling of being safe but the reality of being safe while driving a vehicle. Over the decades, I've spent thou$and$ improving brakes on several vehicles, so I put my money where my mouth is. In no particular order, here are some thoughts. 1. The AWD chassis has slightly larger front brakes, and the rotors are vented. 2. Porterfield R-4S (for 'street') pads do indeed have high friction hot and cold, in spite of another poster's comments. That combination, plus the fact that they're virtually dust free, makes them the best pads money can buy, IMO. Also, I've used them on 3 vehicles and NONE has squealed, so I don't know where that comment comes from. 3. I still plan to investigate Ford Motorsports brake systems for the front of my Edge. 4. ALL vehicles are compromises. The looks of the Edge appealed to me first, then its features, then its price. I'm 'fixing' those characteristics--exhaust and audio systems, unpainted exterior body parts, ugly wheels, etc.--I'm not happy with. I suggest you buy the best compromise you can find and then improve what needs it. I'm NOT at all nervous about my Edge's braking performance, but I'll still be investigating better brakes in a few months.
  18. No, but I never do when I do these kinds of things. I think the vast majority of people who claim to perceive an increase in power are responding to the higher exhaust-noise level.
  19. Rockfish: "I also saw an article refering to vented rotors possibly helping. Have you heard this and what brands will fit without changing the calipers." The front rotors of my AWD model are vented and about 12-1/2" diameter; I've not examined FWD versions but apparently they're slightly smaller. Here http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=784 is some discussion of aftermarket rotors and pads. Ford Motorsports has some large-rotor kits; I may investigate those.
  20. Only if you see that they're buying larger-size clothes.
  21. ...or you could buy an '08 Taurus X. http://www.fordvehicles.com/crossovers/taurusx/ I'm glad Ford decided NOT to offer 3-row seating in the Edge. If it did, ALL passengers would get less legroom AND it'd be longer and heavier.
